I have been taught Dispensationalism from my mothers womb. I was born in a dispensational environment. It was assumed at my church to be a part of the Gospel. There was never another option presented. It made sense. It helped me put together the Scriptures in a way that cleared up so much confusion. And, to be honest, the emphasis on the coming tribulation, current events that prove the Bibles prophecy, the fear that the Antichrist may be alive today (who is he?) was all quite exciting. But what might be the biggest attraction for me is the charts! Oh how I love charts. I think in charts. And dispensationalism is a theology of charts!
The first time I came across someone who was not a Dispensationalist was in 1999. I am not kidding. It was the first time! I dont think I even knew if there was another view. It was when I was a student at Dallas Theological Seminary (the bastion of Dispensationalism) and I was swimming with some guys who were at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Once they discovered I was a dispensationalist, they giggled and snickered. They made fun of the rapture, the sacrificial system during the millennium, and the mark of the beast (which, at that time, was some type of barcode). It was as if they patted me on the head and said Its okay . . . nice little dispensationalist. I was so angry. I was humiliated. I was a second-rate theologian. They were Covenantalists (whatever that was). But they were the cool guys who believed in the historic Christian faith and I was the cultural Christian, believing in novel ideas.

As near as I can tell form scanning this thread, I am the only person that has posted the appropriate passages from Paul’s epistles to this thread.
.
This post right here tells me all I WANT to know and hear from you. Thank you for playing. Your parting gift is located at the desk. It is the missing Epistles of Paul. Good luck and good reading.
You should try thinking rather than parroting false doctrine.
I do think, and that is how I quickly recognized the eisegisis inherent in the idea that dispys try to apply to that verse.
The meaning has to be contained within the epistle, since divide and word do not occur together anywhere else in the entire Bible. Thus the subject of the epistle and that of the verse must be the same. otherwise it is an insoluble shuffle of thousands of cards and a blind draw.
Rightly divide the word of truth!
From what?
From the word of falsehood.
Any other answer goes completely outside of the word.
.
I will NOT leave your posted unanswered. For anyone to think it is correct. If you cannot understand the simple words rightly divide the word of truth, God help you. The words lie, false doctrine do not appear there. only the word of truth. Now off you go..
You do a great deal of surmising about my beliefs and understanding of the Bible. From your other comments on this, and other threads, I find many of your comments to be tinged with sarcasm and at times, arrogant. I am familiar with Bible verses concerning humility, such as Ephesians 4:2 and James 3:13, but I’m unable to recall Jesus, nor His disciples instructing us to display arrogance or sarcasm in our dealing with others, especially fellow Believers. How does that style work with your evangeliing non-Believers? Perhaps you could enlighten me, as I unfortunately, like you, have such a gifting for sarcasm, if I don’t control it.
No, Catholicism is not a denomination.....all there was for 16 centuries was the Catholic church....then along came the wannabees who had to be separated by name so they were referred to as denominations so people could tell the difference between them
I am gentle where it is called for. I don’t excuse saltless ‘lets all just get along’ surrender, which drips from your posts.
The world is full of Catholic churches, monasteries, schools libraries, hospitals, which date back to biblical times...there are no other Christian denominations there at all. Obviously there were pagan religions, and religions who did not recognize the God of Christianity....but that's not our discussion....the Catholic church was the ONLY Christian church for about 16 centuries....I Can't prove that there were no others, that would be proving a negative....if there were 0thers (there weren't) then you prove the positive....their sect, buildings, accomplishments, history, followers, leaders, proclamations, teachings....whatever.
Keep up the good work. I was away from the Internet for the day, but did scan through your posts this evening.
It amazes me that people can read the Gospels, Acts and the books written during that time, and not see the dramatic differences between what was taught then, and what was taught AFTER Paul revealed the Mystery that was Hidden in God in his Prison letters. Heck, if you are not shouting “Hallelujah” after reading the first 3 chapters of Ephesians, you may be spiritually dead.
2Timothy 1:
[13] Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
[14] by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.
[15] This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
The entire epistle is written like this. .
More projection...”...saltless ‘let’s all just get along’ surrender”. ‘Surrender’ in living as Jesus instructed? “If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbour and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” FWIW, those are Jesus’words in Matthew 5. I’ll take His words at face value, whether you choose to or not.
In speaking of evangelism, Francis of Assisi said, “Preach the gospel at all time and if necessary, use words.”. Perhaps it is a good idea that you ‘contend’ for the ‘pre-trib rapture’ ‘faith’ on FR and let others do the actual outreach to the unchurched. Those of us who see the errors in Pastor Darby’s theory are not apt to walk from the faith when confronted with your arrogance and sarcasm, like a baby Christian might.

Doesn't seem to be all that complicated of an idea...You have the word of truth; the bible, divide it...
Not much different than you have a deck of cards and are told to divide it...
Very poor advice...Fact is, you can't preach the gospel withut using words...
To attack a simple system of doctrinal studies built upon doctrines enunciated directly from the Word of God over the past 2000 years and consistent with the OT Scriptures as well, indicates there is more spiritual truth in that system than comparative denominational studies.
Otherwise, the Adversary wouldn’t waste so much time attacking it.
Well done!
The Roman Catholic denomination has slowly degenerated into a cult, which is why faithful believers left it for the Reformation and when the denominations of the Reformation began to grow stale, Evangelical denominations arose, and when they began to wane, faithful students of Bible doctrine began to formulate the tenets of Dispensationalism.
The fundamental doctrines accepted in Christianity regarding the Trinity and Hypostatic Union were developed early in Church History by believing Catholics. The doctrines of soteriology were matured by the Reformation. Dispensationalism has brought these with eschatology together in their doctrinal growth.
Every denomination appears to last about 200 years before it’s attacked and degenerated from within. Unlike the other denominational studies, dispensationalism is the only study which answers the question, “What happens after salvation?”
While there may be some weaknesses in dispensational studies, it essentially seeks to stand on the shoulders of previous denominational doctrinal strengths and continue the build sound Biblical doctrine within the Church.
Those who attack dispensationalism, simply attack faith in Christ and manifest they really don’t know what they are attacking. Their attacks remind me of a rebellious middle school student criticizing their mathematics teachers because “nobody ever uses algebra, trigonometry, or calculus” and “who needs to bother with all those confusing charts and diagrams”.
