No, Catholicism is not a denomination.....all there was for 16 centuries was the Catholic church....then along came the wannabees who had to be separated by name so they were referred to as denominations so people could tell the difference between them
The Roman Catholic denomination has slowly degenerated into a cult, which is why faithful believers left it for the Reformation and when the denominations of the Reformation began to grow stale, Evangelical denominations arose, and when they began to wane, faithful students of Bible doctrine began to formulate the tenets of Dispensationalism.
The fundamental doctrines accepted in Christianity regarding the Trinity and Hypostatic Union were developed early in Church History by believing Catholics. The doctrines of soteriology were matured by the Reformation. Dispensationalism has brought these with eschatology together in their doctrinal growth.
Every denomination appears to last about 200 years before it’s attacked and degenerated from within. Unlike the other denominational studies, dispensationalism is the only study which answers the question, “What happens after salvation?”
While there may be some weaknesses in dispensational studies, it essentially seeks to stand on the shoulders of previous denominational doctrinal strengths and continue the build sound Biblical doctrine within the Church.
Those who attack dispensationalism, simply attack faith in Christ and manifest they really don’t know what they are attacking. Their attacks remind me of a rebellious middle school student criticizing their mathematics teachers because “nobody ever uses algebra, trigonometry, or calculus” and “who needs to bother with all those confusing charts and diagrams”.
