Pope Francis concept of the Catholic Church is a welcoming home for all the Lesbians, Gays, Transgenders, Bisexual, divorced and remarried, Evangelicals and atheists. He feels that these people have been oppressed by the Church by Her condemnation of these sins and he wants to welcome them into the hospital church to be accepted and healed.
I think he puts them in the same category as the poor, the unemployed youth and anyone else who may have been oppressed. Although his compassion is to be commended, it is misplaced. These people are living in sin and will go to hell if they are not corrected before they die.
The pope has a pattern.
1. He receives a letter from someone feeling alienated from the church because he is gay or had a sex change, (which is impossible genetically, a boy is always a boy no matter what operations he may use to change his exterior body. Boys have an X and a Y chromosome. Girls have two X chromsomes), or is divorced and remarried, or is a single mother separated from a violent boyfriend, who could have killed her baby by abortion but did not.
2. Then there comes the phone call from the pope to make them feel accepted by the church.
3. In some cases, they are invited to have a private audience with him.
4. Then somehow the media hears about it.
5. The liberals acclaim the pope as a hero.
6. Almost every Catholic and nonCatholic gets confused.
7. People begin to believe that the Catholic Church can, and has changed Her teachings on sexual morality.
8. Most Catholics who have already accepted the worlds new morality feel affirmed in their deviant life styles.
9. Their conscience is appeased because they have heard from the pope that their deviant life style is not immoral after all.
10. In fact it is something to celebrate and be proud of.
11. More people copy these sinful Catholics immoral life styles.
These same people continue to die at every age imaginable, every minute, all over the world and here are the consequences:
1. These people are judged by Gods rules, not Pope Francis rules.
2. These people may be damned to hell for all eternity.
3. Their souls are lost, not saved.
Now let us look at what then happens to someone who might disagree with the pope and instead, uphold what Jesus teaches in the Holy Bible and His 2000 year old Catholic Church.
1. Progressive blogs, media, clerics and people strongly condemn them as extremist.
2. They are immediately labeled as unloving and extremely judgmental.
3. If they happen to speak the truth at a parish or Catholic school, an angry group of opposition is organized against them.
4. They justify their anger, hate and persecution of that person by quoting their loving pope who says Who am I to Judge and Do not talk about Abortion or Birth control.
5. The cardinals, (like Cardinal Burke), religious, (like Franciscan Friars), or persons who spoke the Catholic truth, are then demoted, removed, silenced or punished.
6. All over the world, traditional Catholics are being persecuted and suppressed by the pope, bishops, religious and other priests.
7. Being a believing and traditional Catholic is the only unforgivable sin.
The very first Spiritual Work of Mercy is to Admonish the sinner. Yes, we Bible believing and Catholic Church believing people also love and care about the sinners. We love those struggling with same sex attraction or gender identity confusion or any sinful temptation and confusion. But we help them to realize;
Sin is still sin.
God loves us and put His commandments to protect us. God is just.
Any unconfessed mortal sin at time of death will condemn us to hell for all eternity.
Heaven is our true home and where true pleasure is to be found.
Let us keep on speaking the Biblical and Catholic truth no matter how much we are persecuted, judged, condemned, hated, silenced, called extremist and black listed. We are in great company with Jesus, St. John the Baptist and all the saints throughout history. Be a prophet of truth, you will be ridiculed, ostracized, called names, exiled and maybe soon, imprisoned or killed. Jesus said: Do not be afraid.
Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake: Be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you. Matthew 5:11-12.
The Church is supposed to be accepting of sinners, for we are all sinners. Very few in all of time have never sinned. Examples: Christ. Mary (although many non-Catholics dispute that, and I’m not here to argue the point). Those murdered in the womb (I’m assuming, don’t know though).
Those without sin do not need any church. Again, that is a very short list!
But the Church (and any Christian church) is not supposed to be accepting of sin itself.
I’m sad to say that Francis apparently does not get this. Or he does and is acting contrary to these simple principles.
I should have said “welcome” instead of “be accepting of.” My bad.
And a caveat: only if they try to sin no more.
I’m not a Catholic, but I agree. Something is going on here.
Yes, but Jesus has given the power to forgive souls in His name to Peter and his successors. We Catholics call that the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Matthew 16: 19
“And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.”
Douay-Rheims Bible
DAMN...and here I thought that the church was MEANT to house sinners
I bet He’s particularly thrilled at the love the church has shown to the priest molesters...with “forgiving” Bishops transferring them when they get caught to move into a new place to rape even more little boys.
Jesus knows the condition of each heart and He’s the one who forgives sin. We are not to embrace sin nor be proud of “forgiving” sin. We don’t have that power. Jesus has that power.
To get to heaven, you will have to first pass John 6:53
“Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you.”
Then also seek forgiveness of sins and get pass Matthew 16: 19
And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.
Douay-Rheims Bible
Amen!
John 14:6
John 6:29
John 11:25
Romans 10:9-10
This may be old fashioned thinking but I thought God was the one who saved man’s soul!
Unfortunate title. I think the author means guiding souls toward the narrow gate.
Nope, He's not real happy with any unrepentant sinner, but VERY happy with those who confess their sins, repent, and clean up their act. You do realize, of course, that the incidents which you described were MUCH higher among protestant clergy and even public school teachers and scout organizations....they must also confess their sins, repent and change their acts....
Of course the Church contains sinners. That’s why there are confessionals.
That’s not the message the Pope is preaching.
He is preaching that certain grave sins are not sins. He tried to manipulate the Synod into declaring that sodomites, adulterers, and fornicators should receive Communion.
The notion that if a person is not permitted to receive Communion, he is not receiving “mercy” from the Church, is a bastardized version of “mercy.”
Your point? I eat of the flesh and drink of the Blood of Christ as commanded. I believe and have been baptized, all without the help of rome. I am saved totally and completely by Christ and His finished work on the Cross.
If you mean by quoting your verses there is no salvation outside the roman church you are sadly mistaken. Christ is the way the truth and the light, not some manmade organization. And spare me your tortured thinking that the roman church was estabished by or acts for Christ. The only Church established by Christ is the true Chruch composed of all those washed by His blood, His pure and spotless Bride. There are some romans in that Church but many non romans as well.
Faggy priests and sorry popes are two big reasons Protestants broke away. Another is the centuries of persecution of the movement toward the common people having access to a Bible. It wasn’t the Comfy Chair of the Python show.
It’s also notable as some of the mainline Protestant churches gained bureaucracy, they also became more collectivist and queer. The present turmoil in the Presbyterian and Lutheran churches are examples of this phenomenon.
I think it says a lot when Catholics demand people to come back to “the” church and seldom mention the need for a personal relationship with the Savior.
Yeah, I have men in my family who were molested as children by homo perverts. It’s totally evil. If they weren’t already dead, I might kill them.
“Tortured thinking”?
Wow! Don’t take my word for it, why not try consulting eminent Protestant theologians who converted to Catholicism.
Even single objection to Petrine Authority has been so solidly refuted that even pre-eminent Lutheran and Episcoplain theologians and pastors have defected from their Bible-Christianity and converted to Catholicism. Here are just three example. I am not talking about political leaders like Gov. Bobby Jindal who tossed out Hinduism or Tony Blair who ditched Anglicanism.
Ulf Ekman, the founder of Scandinavias biggest Bible school, with a congregation of some 4000 individuals, converted to Catholicism because his theological inquiry confirmed for him the indispensability of the Catholic sacraments.
Francis J. Beckwith, a born-again evangelical, a tenured professor at Baptist-affiliated Baylor University in Waco, Tex, was the president of the Evangelical Theological Society, an association of 4,300 Protestant theologians resigned and joined the Catholic Church. One blogger likened it to Hulk Hogans defection from the World Wrestling Federation to the rival World Championship Wrestling league.
Rev. Richard John Neuhaus, was a pre-eminent Lutheran theologian in America. He knew his Bible-text and history like no other Protestant. When he converted to Catholicism he said, I have long believed that the Roman Catholic Church is the fullest expression of the church of Christ through time.
It has been said that if you place 100 Bible-Christians in a room and give them a notepad and pencil and have them interpret a phrase of scripture, you’d have 100 different reasons they would provide for their conclusion. Don’t forget to include pastors from the AME Church as well or those Bible-faiths that ordain gay and lesbian pastors.
Thus the early Church historian J. N. D. Kelly, a Protestant, writes, “[W]here in practice was [the] apostolic testimony or tradition to be found? . . . The most obvious answer was that the apostles had committed it orally to the Church, where it had been handed down from generation to generation. . . . Unlike the alleged secret tradition of the Gnostics, it was entirely public and open, having been entrusted by the apostles to their successors, and by these in turn to those who followed them, and was visible in the Church for all who cared to look for it” (Early Christian Doctrines, 37).
Dont take my word. Heres one original source. St. Irenaeus:
“It is possible, then, for everyone in every church, who may wish to know the truth, to contemplate the tradition of the apostles which has been made known to us throughout the whole world. And we are in a position to enumerate those who were instituted bishops by the apostles and their successors down to our own times, men who neither knew nor taught anything like what these heretics rave about” (Against Heresies 3:3:1 [A.D. 189]).
“The true knowledge is the doctrine of the apostles, and the ancient organization of the Church throughout the whole world, and the manifestation of the body of Christ according to the succession of bishops, by which succession the bishops have handed down the Church which is found everywhere” (4:33:8).
eminent protestant theologians who have fallen into error are likely to parrot the error they have fallen into. So what?
The roman church as it exists contains grave error not even bordering on but crossing the line into heresy and apostacy. It has led millions astray and will have to answer for that. Even Paul admitted He saw through a glass darkly and He is one of the most learned and quoted church fathers.
The only true Church is the one composed of all those washed by the Blood of Christ. I am a member of that organization and have the assurance of salvation without any help from rome. You can quote your manmade authority and pray to anyone you want. I trust in Christ alone.
Good grief.
So all the preeminent theologians from Augustine to Aquinas to Newman to Benedict and all those eminent Protestant theologians who converted to Catholicism as well as all the saints, martyrs, and stigmatists, as well as the early Church fathers who under Petrine Authority put together the books in the Bible (the Bible did not fall from the skies and magically self-assemble in order the chapter and verse you find them) were ALL wrong! Oh, by the way Protestants should not celebrate the liturgical calendar dates for Christmas, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday since this was a Catholic calendar.
Nice strawman. I didn’t say all theologians and saints were wrong on every subject. I said protestants that converted to roman catholicism should be expected to parrot the errors of the system they have chosen.
I don’t have time to refight the reformation tonight. You think your church has all the answers and is the sole keeper of truth. I find your institution full of misplaced pride and error. Of course none of that matters, the only approval I seek is that of Christ alone, and if you were wise you would seek the same.
I will not be surprised to find some romans in heaven, I think some are truly saved. You on the other hand may be quite surprised to find some of us pesky protestants sharing eternity with our Savior.
I’m with you- the whole thing has been very hinky.
& i’m not a very big fan of him anyway- i gave him my 3 mins but there’s something going on that just doesn’t meet the eye.
1 Peter 4:17For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
