The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not mans standard.

Some RCs deceive people intentionally by claiming their church teaches we are saved by the grace of God alone. What they don't teach or believe is that we are saved by grace THROUGH faith alone and not by our works, deeds, efforts, merits, “cooperating” with God's grace, etc. It's really a sneaky way to rope people into a false gospel that places their church as the only way to get through to heaven. It is the same kind of accursed gospel Paul warned the Galatian Christians AND us about.

What they don't teach or believe is that we are saved by grace THROUGH faith alone and not by our works, deeds, efforts, merits, cooperating with God's grace, etc.Yes, that is true. I have always suspected, that when you are dealing with folks from other religious persuasions, you must define every term you use. They engage in cult speak. Example: Some weeks ago, the Jehovah's Witnesses came to my door. I said I would be glad to discuss the Word Of God with them. I had to define every term I used, such as when I say Jesus Christ, faith, good works, salvation etc, I know exactly what I mean. When a JW, Mormon, etc, says these terms, it conjures up an entirely different concept in their minds, and it usually is far different than what comes to my mind. So, if someone says we believe in salvation by God's grace alone, they must define what they mean, and usually it is different from the biblical definition. Make sense?

Ping to 5970 for a link to literacy in Bible times.
Thanks dan. That’s a great article, that I don’t doubt will fall on some/many deaf ears who want to promote the concept of illiteracy in those times as an excuse for their church trying to keep the Bible out of the hands of lay people.

Those who know it, tend to be Catholic. Those who know the Bible tend to be Christians.

I see more red and stupid from the anti-Catholics everyday on these threads than I do in a year of living just north of the Bible belt. Not to mention the SCRIPTURE and CATHOLIC quotes!

If the body is invisible in history I think there is a problem with having a visible and historical Canon.I guess so!
1 Timothy 4:1 Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)
Now the Spirit manifestly saith, that in the last times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to spirits of error, and doctrines of devils,
Revelation 1:4-6, 11,
4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia. Grace be unto you and peace from him that is, and that was, and that is to come, and from the seven spirits which are before his throne,
5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth, who hath loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 And hath made us a kingdom, and priests to God and his Father, to him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen.
11 Saying: What thou seest, write in a book, and send to the seven churches which are in Asia, to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamus, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.
(Read the 2nd and 3rd chapters to see what ERROR these 'CATHOLIC CHURCHES' were involved in.)

When does the door close?
NEVER!
Mary can pop up again (perhaps in Paraguay this time) and dazzle 5 goat herding children with her appearance; telling them GOD only knows what.
Maybe, "Pray the Rosary TWICE as much and things will REALLY happen! True dat!!"

Paraphrasing 2 Timothy 3:15.
2 Timothy 3:15-17 Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)
15 And because from thy infancy thou hast known the holy scriptures, which can instruct thee to salvation, by the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture, inspired of God, is profitable to teach, to reprove, to correct, to instruct in justice,
17 That the man of God may be perfect, furnished to every good work.
HMMMmmm...
I never thought the day would come when a CATHOLIC finally sees Sola in the Bible!!

Catholics get very little theological instruction from 25 year old garage door repairmen... Some folks need a talking ASS to get through to them.
I am at your service.

Your schtick is getting REALLY thin, son.
