The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not mans standard.
(For some reason, the Catholic D-R has this as Psalm 50:6 - I have no idea why.)
Exactly. Which is why a priest CAN'T forgive a person's offense against another. Only the offended party can forgive the offense.
Sorry; but the COMMAND was given WAY earlier in Jewish history:
Exodus 20:24
You shall observe this rite as an ordinance for you and for your sons for ever.
The Jews KNEW that the Passover Lamb was an indication of the Messiah to come.
Jesus was pointing out that HE was that Lamb.
He was changing their 'rememberence' to Himself; away from the mere meat that was before them: changing the mere WINE into remembering His blood; about to be shed for them.
ALL pagan 'priests' say some kind of mumbo-jumbo; too.
If either of you could send some our way, it’d be greatly appreciated.
Woke up to 22 and high winds this morning.
Looks like the arctic tundra out there but then again, it is winter in Central NY.
That’s because you look at the whole.
Catholics are TAUGHT to look at each piece separately, thereby avoiding logic problems.
What for it in the questions they ask you.
Parts are parts!
Almost.
The glory of the Lord is my read guard.
There. Now it’s complete.
It contains the truly WONDERFUL Book of ABRAHAM.
I hear that Mormons truly believe it.
Well; maybe NOT Normandy; as he appears to be a CHRISTIAN that is going to Mormon houses of worship temporarily.
Ouch. That is about enough to make one want to crawl right back into bed. It was about 82 here today, pleasantly cool, as January is a little cooler than normal. April is coming, however, the hottest month of the year. Temps about 95 everyday, with humidity near 100%.
Just what are those traditions Paul was referring to that he handed down that we are to keep that were not included in Scripture?
How do you know?
How do you know theyre from the apostles, Paul in particular?
How do you know theyve been passed down faithfully?
What is your source for verifying all of the above?
Please provide the sources for verification purposes.
The same questions apply to Scripture. Biblical scholars agree that early oral traditions along with collections of accounts preceded the writing of the Gospels.
How do we know?
How do we know they’re from the apostles?
How do we know they’ve been written into the Gospels faithfully?
What is the source for verifying all of the above?
The source has been lost to history.
I left St. Pete Friday morn; bound for St. Augustine; as we wanted to see the Festival of Lights. (Darned Catholics got to name them places it seems.) In the mid 70's as we left.
as we got to the Atlantic side of the state (Ormand Beach), the low tire light came on. Got some air, but found no evidence of a problem, so we drove on to St. Augustine. What a mess was in Old town!
We figured that AFTER Christmas the gawkers would mainly be gone; but it turned out I was wrong! Vast crowds and traffic impeded our progress (rude of them; wasn't it!) but the lights were great. As I was leaving the area, the light came on again and shortly I could FEEL problems!
I pulled into a small lot and put on the spare (Still in the 70's).
I decided to hustle to nearest WallyWorld and get tire plugs, but the local store was OUT of them and the tools required! So we hunkered down for the night and we'd git 'er fixed in the morn.
Next day was 78 when I got the tire fixed. (Me, hot parking lot at the next WW-Jacksonville.)
Made it almost to Montgomery, AL before stopping for the night. (We'd just come thru a HORRENDOUS rain storm in southern ALABAMA - Thank you Lord for letting me have GOOD weather to fix tire!)
Next morn, Sunday, was 50°.
As we got closer to home, the temp got closer to freezing.
AS we pulled into our driveway, it was 31 and snowing.
Ain't GOD good to INDIANA!!!
Psst... it's 7° this morning!!
Who's your 'rite guard? ;^)
John 14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
Is there anyone else but those apostles that could "remember" what Christ said to them?
>>The source has been lost to history.<<
No it hasn't. Even if you disregard those books not self identified as to who wrote them we still have all we need.
Pitiful indeed. We see all too often that when at a loss to defend their beliefs diversionary tactics are used. I also wonder if they say the same to those women of the Catholic persuasion who post on these forums. Hypocrisy comes to mind.
He sure doesn't have a problem being told what to do by Mary!
Ummmmmm...
Or would that be murmuring and backbiting ? If you have a problem with Mrs. Don-O, you can take it up with her husband. I'll ping him for you. As for me, I've not but seen Mrs. Don-O represent herself but under the authority of the Catholic Church, teaching the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which is not dependent on Sola Scriptura, to which Catholics trying to scratch off their baptism would do well to headmen to. Further, she presents the truth with more grace and compassion than anyone else I can think of on the FR RF. I have no doubt she is in obedience to her bishop and brings honor to her husband by her posts here.
Let your women teachers present their credentials, the denominations/sects/faith groups which are sponsoring them and then all can judge whether they believe and obey Sola Scriptura, they are yet another faith group recently formed to do whatsoever they deem right in their own eyes.
Headmen to => give heed to
