Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

Posted on 12/14/2014 11:57:21 AM PST by ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

I wish I knew more Greek, but am grateful for the resources that allow one to research it and find out really cool stuff like that.

Not me!!

It's turtles; all the way down; if you do.

Some jerk will ALWAYS come along and ask DEMAND! to see your credentials.

I'll leave all the translationing stuff to EXPERTS.

It is OBVIOUS to many who look; that THEY disagree in places; so having ME in the mix would not help one bit.

Thank GOD that NONE disagree over the GREEK words found in the bible about Mary's assumption!!!

In fact, it's becoming quite tedious having to constantly argue the SAME points over and over again.

He's hoping you'll FINALLY get tired of his game and leave.

Or, is it more important to y'all to demean, destroy, insult, mock and belittle those who, though they ARE Christians and believe and follow Jesus Christ, are not Roman Catholics?

The Sons of Thunder were CATHOLIC; remember???

>>so I trust the Church because I learned these life-saving facts from her.<<

So there you have it.

Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

WOW, talk about reading between the lines and making up hypothetical possibilities...

Welcome to Catholic Thought for January 2, 2015 AD

We'll be discussing the many things NOT found explicitly in Scripture that Catholicism finds VERY important.

Get your prayer beads really in case any NON-Catholics (pbuh) call in.

I think I may have said sometime back that I was baptized in the swimming pool at Bien Hoa Air Base, Republic of Vietnam by a Southern Baptist chaplain, even though at the time, I was a recent convert from the you know what church, and I didn't even know what a Southern Baptist was. Oh well, how things have changed, for the better, I might add.

Since you volunteered you were re baptized by an SBC chaplain, a follow up question begs an answer; are you still a member of an SBC church ? thanks

the very Catechism of the Catholic church

Moved by the grace of the Holy Spirit and drawn by the Father, we believe in Jesus and confess: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”8 On the rock of this faith confessed by St. Peter, Christ built his Church.9 (683, 552)

Condemned PETER?

What did he know about anything?

“So rather than metmom coming in as representing some modern, novel speculation, she believes about this passage what Augustine believed, and many others early Christians of good reputation as well.”

Today, believing what the early church believed is referred to derisively as “Protestantism.” We know it is Christianity.

Many years ago, we had a VCR movie (yes, that long ago) called the God Makers, about Mormonism. We saw the magic underwear. If it wasn’t such a serious cult, it would have been laughable. A few months ago, we were at the Davao City Airport, a few blocks from Quiboloy’s church, when I saw two young Filipino guys with bycycles. I said to my wife, I bet they are Filipino Mormons. We got close, and sure enough they were. They greeted me in perfect English. I am not rude, so I said hello, but made it clear I didn’t really want to hear about old Joe Smith. The Jehovah’s Witnesses are here too, but the worst, besides Islam, are the Iglesia Ni Cristo, or Iglesia Ni Manalo, and the cult of Apollo C Quiboloy. A couple of pernicious cults for sure.

Please show from the Greek where in 1 Corinthians 11:27-29 it includes “of Christ”.

Being baptized in a church or by a pastor of that church, does not by default make you a *member* of that church, contrary to Catholic thinking on the matter.

Church membership is a different thing and often simply a technicality for being able to participate in the church government.

Catholics really need to learn to look at things from a different perspective.

>>Messiah promised a Church, not a Bible.<<

No He didn't. It was an "ekklesia". An assembly of those called out or dedicated to God. The Catholic concept of "church" is found no where in scripture.

I am not rude, so I said hello, but made it clear I didn’t really want to hear about old Joe Smith.

But THEY need to!

Not the watered down MILK about him; but ALL of his dirty underwear!

Not just HIM; but the LDS religious organization in total!

The BY's and the Porter Rockwells, and the Avenging Angels and Mountain Meadows MAssacure and the magnificence rebuilding of downtown SLC and the "delightsome" white skin and...

He said the flesh profits nothing. Remember that part? He also said not to eat the blood as did the apostles later. Remember that part?
