Liberals increasingly want to enforce a comprehensive, uniformly secular vision of the human good. And they see alternative visions of the good as increasingly intolerable.... Palmer... expresses "ambivalence," "suspicion," and "visceral discomfort" ... that these men and women are motivated to make "long-term commitments to address the health problems of poor Africans," to "risk their lives," and to accept poor compensation (and sometimes none at all) because of their Christian faith.
The question is why he considers this a problem...
Gordon College, a small Christian school north of Boston, is facing the possibility of having its accreditation revoked... In accordance with traditional Christian teaching, Gordon College bans all sexual relationships outside of marriage, gay or straight...

Because Christianity condemns them ...
Because the ruler of this world is their spiritual leader and guide....................
Because Christianity teaches about moral absolutes and standards of behavior that disrupt the “liberal” emphasis on self-absorption and hedonism.
Given free choice the left will almost always choose evil.
“Because Christianity condemns them ...”
No, because Christians condemn them. They’ve been deceived into believing that they must live outside the love of Christ, and that belief is reinforced by people who concentrate on their symptoms without considering the cause of their affliction.
Most drug and alcohol abuse is the result of self-medication.
To change people, they have to reach a point where they want to change. There isn’t anything that can be done about that. However, there is a crowd that believes that being saved means that somehow now they are perfect and sinless, and empowered to sit in judgment over others.
Christ didn’t come to condemn anyone. Christ came to save those who could not save themselves (everyone).
The Ten Commandments scare the hell out of them, especially the Thou Shall Not Kill one. Gets in the way of their slaughter of 1,300,000 human babies yearly.
Plus their homosexual behavior and condoning flies in the face of Biblical teaching.
They are Godless heathens and pagans.
I don’t know whether Christianity condemns anyone, but Christ does not condemn. To answer the question, though, liberals despise Christianity because it points to a Being greater than ourselves, and that is just not acceptable to liberals. If there is anything greater than ourselves, it cannot be God. Government perhaps, according to liberals, but not God.
Truth hurts.
Because liberals have to overthrow Theism to put Humans in charge of you.
Because Christianity (the real kind) provides truth that is sourced in God’s revelation of His will in His authoritative word. Liberals want to determine “truth” for themselves (and then force it on the rest of us).
If they are obsessed with pursuing those behaviors they attack the messenger.
Liberals think of themselves as gods.
They hate competition.
Some people hate competition, especially if it comes from God.
“Because Christianity teaches about moral absolutes and standards of behavior that disrupt the liberal emphasis on self-absorption and hedonism.”
Agree 100%!
And this is the judgment: because the light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the light: for their works were evil. For every one that doth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, that his works may not be reproved.
But he that doth truth, cometh to the light, that his works may be made manifest, because they are done in God." ~ St. John 3:18-21
Because they are bullies?
Because mankind wants it his way and not God’s.
Two instances in the 20th. Century.
1) Around 1930, when the movie industry gained talkies and really started to push the envelope on acceptable content (check out some of the early Marx Bros. stuff and you’ll see what I mean) Christians organized a pushback. The Catholic Legion of Decency and the Protestant Breen Committee pressured Hollywood into accepting a set of standards for what would and would not be shown onscreen. These were in force up into the 1960’s.
The creative community in Hollywood has NEVER forgiven them for this. They took it as a personal affront. In addition, many of their creative were Jewish, and inferred some type of anti-Semitic motive which did not really exist. It was like forcing them to swallow a cup full of razorblades and they’ve been out for revenge ever since.
2) The Moral Majority (Falwell, Robertson, and other prominent ministers in the 70’s) began pushing back against the Cultural Revolution. By attempting to “spoil” their sex, drugs and rock-n-roll fun, Libs interpreted this as a direct threat to “freedom” as they defined it.
Hence the emergence of very shrill pushback groups like Norman Lear’s People for the American Way. And yet another white-hot drive for revenge.
In my experience talking with others, there is one fundamental reason that is generally true, and it has a particularly common manifestation:
Liberals don't want anyone telling them what they can and cannot do. They don't believe in personal sin, and therefore don't believe in personal responsibility. So they have fashioned their own sense of sin, and because they don't think we're responsible for our actions (i.e., they don't trust us to act responsibly), they have to force us to do what they think is the right thing to do, and not to do what they don't want us to do.
Because they don't believe in sin, they also don't believe in forgiveness. Only punishment as a form of behavior modification.
A particularly common manifestation of them not wanting anyone to tell them what they can and cannot do is that they don't want Christ telling them who they can have sex with. They want to have sex on their terms. They want to have it before they get married, or with someone else's spouse, or with someone who's not their spouse, or with someone of the same sex, or several people of the same sex. Or by themselves. Or with a rubber doll. Or with an animal. Not that there are no Christians who are tempted to these things, too. It's just that Christians understand that these are wrong and most of them at least try not to do them.
Liberals are about forcing people to act in a certain way out of disdain for them. Christians are about encouraging people to live according to a moral code out of love for God and others, and with an eye toward the reward of heaven.
The two are not compatible.
