Totally misguided, ping!
Life used to be slower paced.
There was a time when people were patient enough to wait to die of old age, this go-go-go obsession with being proactive, is going too far for my tastes.
The decision to end one’s life is between the individual and God.
Anyone else who gets involved without being invited to the discussion, including and especially the State, is an interfering busybody.
Euthanasia/Suicide crowd beating the drums of acceptance again. It’s not hard to find a few elderly folks who are delusional, fearful, early Alzheimers or have screws loose to be the poster child for these movement(s). Given their first names, I’d assume they’re Christian; nice to see how well the Judeo-Christian ethic regarding caring for others, heck, the 10 Commandments, having respect for your parents, took root in their offspring. Selfish jerks. When the shoe’s on the other foot, we’ll see how much they’re own children care...years down the road. Tragic.
Belgium, you have a problem.
"Identified only by their first names, Francis, 89, and Anne, 86..."
Or not.
You have at least one supporter around here. :{)
I don’t understand your commentary; there was no euthanasia in Notebook.
then for what are they saving their savings?
i concur...
I love my wife dearly. If I die before her, my wish is for her to live and love the children and grandchildren and if lucky to find love again in her life. The above are my intentions if she is gone before me.
As a medical professional I also know that the endstage of life can be brutal and agonizing for self and family. I have been there in my personal life. I can not make the decision to help end another ones life in these conditions so long as they are competent and rational. I can make the decision for myself and it is between me and the maker. It does not have one damn thing to do with the government or the law.
No, just the sympathy for a sort of joint “lovers” suicide.
Hmmm ...
They are also afraid that a good retirement home would cost more than their combined pensions and that they would have to dig into their savings to afford it.
What is the point of having savings then?
we are afraid of what lies ahead
They have plenty to fear if they go through with this.
I guess that would be one way for the snotty-nosed, commie 'RATS to get the elderly vote.
Notice how their children are ‘supportive’ of their wishes. I’m sure the interests of their parents are at the forefront of their minds when they are trying to avoid them getting distressed at the thought of their children’s inheritance being frittered away on care home bills....

The decision to end one’s life is entirely the decision of God.
He knows all the hairs on our heads and every thought and action from conception to natural death.
These people are joining the ranks of Judas Iscariot....sad to say.
**then for what are they saving their savings? **
Or did the heirs initiate this conversation/idea so they would have more money as inheritance.
Something’s rotten in Belgium.
