Movie :
KJB: The Book That Changed the World

Of all places, Hulu has this well done, interesting and edifying documentary (with ads) with actor John Rhys-Davies.

Describes King James 1 upbringing and and political events, including the Gunpowder Plot and shows historical background and aspects which led to this translation.

the KJV has cost the loss of more souls than any other book in history.

Nope! That prize belongs to the Roman Catholic church catechism.

It’s not a coincidence that the invention of the doctrine of “The Bible alone as the sole rule of faith,” coincided with the invention of the printing press.

Since a Bible cost the equivalent of three years wages, prior to Gutenberg’s invention, Luther’s doctrine would have been entirely impracticable and absurd. No one read because there was nothing to read.

I am finding information which suggests King James 1 was straight, and that one of his ex-courtiers, a chap named Antihony Weldon, was the principle source for these defamatory attacks, out of some sort of political grudge, which would explain why no one at the time took it seriously. Can you share your source?

Oh, those pesky printing presses.

We simply cannot have the people reading scripture for themselves...

They might find out how thoroughly FUBAR/screwed up the Church of Rome REALLY was!

They also confirm, through their dating, that they were written way before the gospels of Christ,

thus proving the divine/prophetic nature of the Bible as a whole.

He was as much Catholic as Henry VIII. His alligiance was to himself, not the Pope.

No sense in posting anymore about King James’ sexuality. I thought it was a well established fact that King James was homosexual, or bisexual if you can believe he fathered 7 children. Maybe he was as straight as an arrow and those ugly rumors were started by those that are not fans of the KJB.

Yes.

The fully extant (and additional, partial) copies of Isaiah show there was no significant amendment to that book, done to squeeze the one we know of (commonly in the English language) as Jesus Christ, into the texts where He does not belong...for Isaiah did prophesy of the Messiah -- of that -- even the rabbis who most adamantly deny that this Jesus was the One, do not otherwise deny (or can in any real way refute).

When you find Friday and Sunday in scripture let me know..

Those aren’t sola scriptura... those are sola popa gregory.

Scripture says He died on Passover, the 14th of the first month.
In Israel, that was a Moon’s Day this year..

Not saying they are accurate with the month as they ignore the stars, but they are accurate with counting days as every month in scripture starts with a new moon.

Tough to celebrate good Friday on a Moon day.. it really screws up the greco roman latin friya day, Saturn’s day and easter sun’s day weekend..

The mother church has some of her greatest defenders of her greco roman latin church traditions in her daughters- but on this forum, those daughters seem to either hate their mother or at least find fault with their mother for everything else..

A dumb and difficult book was substituted for the living voice of the Church.

That says it all, doesn't it? This is why Roman Catholics to this day fight tooth and nail against those who honor God's word ABOVE any organization of man. We see it pretty regularly here.

** God is the author.**

Then why did you write this if all those people were real people and wrote Letters, Gospels, Books of the Bible Can you make up your mind?

Can YOU??? Have you forgotten that "holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit"? That is what makes the Bible Divinely-inspired SACRED Scripture - it came from God THROUGH human writers. It is also why we know those extra Apocryphal books Catholics stuffed into it are NOT. Now, will you learn this truth or will you toss the SAME argument out next time as if oblivious to its error?

Right on! How many people even realize that the "English" language we know and speak today didn't even exist until the middle ages?

Modern English, which includes the works of William Shakespeare[40] and the King James Version of the Bible, is generally dated from about 1550, and after the United Kingdom became a colonial power, English served as the lingua franca of the colonies of the British Empire. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_language

You mean like many of your Popes? Disgusting to think that so many sitting on the Throne of Peter” were unrepentant sodomites.

IIRC Elsie has a list and can name names.

HTML is your friend. Use it.

Also, nobody is saying ONLY the KJV accurately conveys God’s word. Why even bring that into the discussion?

The KJV, while a fairly accurate translation, left out some very important books and is thus WRONG.

What is this nonsense you are going on about?

I own a 1611 KJV with in-line apocrypha, and a std KJV with Apocrypha as an addendum. You can buy them right now, today. E-sword has an electronic version readily available.
