Pastor John MacArthur of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California provides eight free sermons out-lining Catholic beliefs and why they are full or error, heresy and idolatry.
As a Protestant, I’ve noticed more Catholic bashing by those who would do well in a music video for Ray Stevens’ “Mississippi Squirrel Revival.”
Catholics want to dominate the forum?
Hail full of Grace, The Lord is with thee, Blessed art Thou among women and Blessed is the Fruit of thy Womb, Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God pray for us sinner now and at the hour of our Desth. Amen.
Ad Majoram Dei Gloriam
If only the Catholics would watch. They are one group that does NOT want to know the truth of God’s Word.
Thanks for posting.
Helq us Dr Thorn, we r stuck here as Catholicks and need your preyers!
Oh my gosh. Now granted, we are all off today and have time on our hands but can’t we all just get along? This stuff has been festering for hundreds of years, and it’s not going to be solved in a chat room. Let’s just shake hands and slowly back away

Would it add to the quasi-festive martial atmosphere here if someone can arrange to have a rousing rendition of “Onward Christian Soldiers” being sung in the background while people are linked to this thread?
I can’t speak for the other few Buddhists I know of here on FR, but I - for one - am pleased as punch to be left out of the squabbling.
Maybe if Christians would stop stabbing each other in the back Christianity would be better able to defend itself against assault by the secular left and islam. Of course recognizing that Catholics and Orthodox are in fact Christians would help. Is it truly accepted that Christianity did not exist from the final chapter of Revelation to the Ninety Five Theses?

Credo in Deum Patrem omnipotentem;
Creatorem caeli et terrae.
Et in Jesum Christum,
Filium eius unicum, Dominum nostrum;
qui conceptus est
de Spiritu Sancto,
natus ex Maria virgine;
passus sub Pontio Pilato,
crucifixus, mortuus, et sepultus;
descendit ad inferos;
tertia die resurrexit a mortuis;
ascendit ad caelos;
sedet ad dexteram Dei Patris omnipotentis;
inde venturus est
iudicare vivos et mortuos.
Credo in Spiritum Sanctum;
sanctam ecclesiam catholicam;
sanctorum communionem;
remissionem peccatorum;
carnis resurrectionem;
vitam aeternam. Amen.
In English:
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived
by the power of the Holy Spirit,
and born of the Virgin Mary,
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
he will come again
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen
My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden,
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm:
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
and the rich He has sent empty away.
He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;
As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His posterity forever.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
Magníficat ánima mea Dóminum,
et exsultávit spíritus meus
in Deo salvatóre meo,
quia respéxit humilitátem
ancíllæ suæ.
Ecce enim ex hoc beátam
me dicent omnes generatiónes,
quia fecit mihi magna,
qui potens est,
et sanctum nomen eius,
et misericórdia eius in progénies
et progénies timéntibus eum.
Fecit poténtiam in bráchio suo,
dispérsit supérbos mente cordis sui;
depósuit poténtes de sede
et exaltávit húmiles.
Esuriéntes implévit bonis
et dívites dimísit inánes.
Suscépit Ísrael púerum suum,
recordátus misericórdiæ,
sicut locútus est ad patres nostros,
Ábraham et sémini eius in sæcula.
Glória Patri et Fílio
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio,
et nunc et semper,
et in sæcula sæculórum.
Amen.
She became the Mother of God, in which work so many and such great good things are bestowed on her as pass man’s understanding. For on this there follows all honor, all blessedness, and her unique place in the whole of mankind, among which she has no equal, namely, that she had a child by the Father in heaven, and such a Child . . . Hence men have crowded all her glory into a single word, calling her the Mother of God . . . None can say of her nor announce to her greater things, even though he had as many tongues as the earth possesses flowers and blades of grass: the sky, stars; and the sea, grains of sand. It needs to be pondered in the heart what it means to be the Mother of God.
(Commentary on the Magnificat, 1521; in Luther’s Works, Pelikan et al, vol. 21, 326)
Conspiracy theory and ignorance about Catholicism. Am I sensing a natural link here?
A very distant relative of General MacArthur.
My Bible is a study Bible with commentary by MacArthur. Listening to one of the audio tracts right now to what you linked.
I still don’t like these threads bashing each other. But the truth does need to be told.
But love for others is critical.
As a Protestant Christian I think it very wrong to bash another persons religion. We are all the family of God and our enemies are huge. We must all stand together as separated we will all fall before sward of our foes. Our church recites the apostles creed, -which is catholic and that’s all that is necessary because what it says is our faith. We just worship differently.
Jesus is really going to piss everyone off when He lets both Catholics and Protestants into heaven. For the next ten thousand years, He’s going to hear nothing but “why did You let THEM in?”
Shouldn’t we be fighting together against the liberals instead of with each other?
Anyone who posts this kind of post is not looking to make the world a better place, they are looking to cause trouble. Whether the information is true or not does not matter, it is meant to divide and not bring us together under God’s love. Shame on you!
Christianity came out of Judaism. Yashua is Jewish. Just saying.
Whilst I find the “on-going battle” here on Free Republic between our Roman Catholic and Protestant friends illuminating, I come here mainly for the political news, debate, etc.
That said, I find it a bit odd that there is such acrimony in some of the comments I have read — from both sides of the battle.
Odd because both groups have much in common.
For example, I would imagine that most Protestants would be surprised to learn that in a typical RCC mass there is more of the Holy Scriptures read than in your typical Protestant service. A lot more. The RCC, as far as I can tell, has a deep, loving respect for the Word of God.
I would further imagine that our RCC friends would be surprised that most — if not all — Protestants would agree wholeheartedly with the words of the Nicene Creed and the Apostles’ Creed, even though these two creeds are rarely if ever read at most Protestant church services - save the Lutherans and Anglicans and perhaps a few others.
As far as I can tell: both Catholics and Protestants worship and serve the same God; they both believe “for us men and for our salvation He [i.e., Christ] came down from heaven”; both believe in a Heaven and perhaps a Hell, etc.
So much they have in common. So very, very much.
It is sad that FR sees it as part of their mission to provide a space for catholics and protestants to bash each other on public.
There was a horrible thread last night from the roman perspective that was just horrible. And they refused to take it down.
