The Modernists in the Catholic Church will pay a very steep price when these men face Jesus Christ. Sodomy is one of the 4 sins that cry out to heaven for revenge!

A civil union has nothing to do with the Catholic Church.

He's basically saying "go bugger yourselves, just leave us out of it."

This is consistent with rumors that he took a similar position when this issue was debated among the Argentine hierarchy. Let’s face it. This pontificate is a disaster. Pray.

If report is true then Malachi’s prophecy was right (whether some of the predictions were written by someone else or not).

Here is the problem in posting threads, one line in length, sourced to a liberal secular media site - the pope's words are twisted to suit their own agenda. The interview was in Italian and The "civil unions" he is referring to are ones legally approved by governments, over which the church has no control. Issuing from such unions are innocent children who should not be denied reception into the church.

Pope Francis, clarifies the point with these words: “The question is not that of changing doctrine, but of going into the depths, and ensuring that pastoral [efforts] take into account people’s situations, and that, which it is possible for people to do.”

Always consider the source of the news.

In this case, a CNN blogger.

Don’t even need to read the story to know this is bogus.

Pope Francis has said that he could support civil unions between members of the same sex; but could not support same-sex marriage.

It's CNN, but still...

I doubt that he said he would “support” civil unions - probably simply not oppose, since they are purely a civil matter and not something that will affect the Church or its teachings.

BTW, when “civil unions” were first proposed, they were meant to cover any two people living together in a household - could be a mother and adult daughter, for example, or simply two friends - in order to consolidate tax and other matters. That said, of course, the only people who would do them now are gays, and even though they can make of it what they will, it’s still just a civil law formulation and NOT called officially called “marriage.”

Here it is from the original:

He doesn’t say a damned thing about the Church supporting anything, to include “civil unions”. He says the State had various reasons for doing so.

And, of course, Freepers will buy into this line by CNN, hook, line, and sinker.

Who would ever have thought than Francis would make us long for the days of Paul VI?

The gates of Hell did not prevail against even the Borgias, who were merely content to loot the temporal treasury of the Church, but Francis is making bold to loot its spiritual treasury with comments like this.

PLEASE! IMPORTANT VATICAN ANNOUNCEMENT:

This is not what El POpe said!!!

This was a bad translation from the Vatican translation team. Really, we consider it a job training program for Rome’s homeless. Be patient. We add new “translators” every week. They use Google translate and then try to smooth it out. You know how Google is! In the meantime, give thanks that these dear people are now off the streets.
