Are Cardinals Electing The Last Pope? If You Believe Nostradamus...
By Carol Grisanti, Producer, NBC News ROME (snip)
According to an ancient prediction, this next pope will be the last. That theory dates back more than 900 years to when Malachy OMorgair, the 12th century Archbishop of Ireland, had a vision.
Legend has it that St. Malachy, as he is now known, had a strange dream while on a visit to Rome. He saw all the names of the future popes complete with identifying characteristics who would rule the church until the end of time.
In his book, Life of St. Malachy, St. Bernard of Clairvaux wrote that Malachy was respected as a clairvoyant who predicted the exact day and hour of his own death. At least one 20th century pope, Pius X, was convinced Malachys vision was divine, according to Rafael Merry del Val, his biographer.

Pope Benedict was apparently described as glory of the olives and doomsayers point to his choice of the name Benedict, since the founder of the Benedictine Order was also known as Olivetans.
And in Malachys vision, the last pope who will soon be elected is described this way: in extreme persecution, the seat of the Holy Roman Church will be occupied by Peter the Roman
While none of the Italian Cardinals are called Peter, one favorite to become Pope is Cardinal Peter Turkson of Ghana.

Nostradamus: a comet and a lightening bolt If that was not enough to send shivers down a few spines, Nostradamus, the 16th century French astrologer and seer, predicted much the same as Malachy.

I guess by your lights the Great Commission given by Christ to St. Peter and his successors to go forth and teach all nations was simply a useless instruction. How do people who are illiterate learn unless they are taught? This is why we have ONE Church and ONE truth not the nonsense taught by Re. Wright, Rev. David Koresh, Rev. Jackson and the jackassses like the Joel Osteens of this world who instruct a false prosperity Gospel. Faith and reason go together. Muslims and Hindus too have faith but not backed by reason and the words of the Gospel. It was the first Church Fathers who sorted out the books of the Bible. They did not fall from the skies. What was given to Peter were the keys to the kingdom of Heaven by teaching the truth, the one truth as handed down by scripture, its meanings, tradition, and revelation. In this way we avoid a Tower of Babel with thousands of “Christian” sects and where each person claims for himself/herself the “truth” as discerned by that person.
Can you say that of any other church?
Gods temple is within every believer, a living sanctuary for the Holy Spirit.

We are talking about two different types of churches here, one spiritual, one physical. The artistic expressions left as examples of great faith and evidenced by magnificent art and architecture are some of humankind’s greatest achievements (i.e, The Sistine Chapel). The temple of the holy spirit that lives within believers is not of this world. Great churches are.
America didn’t elect this one.
Amen Brother.
We do have some sketchy accounts from possible witnesses who claimed that Peter did preach in Rome.
However, if those accounts went under the same scrutiny that the books of the Bible went under, they would have been ignored as rumors without proper validation.
Which is what we as honest God fearing Christians should do. If God wanted it to be understood and believed that Peter not only made it to Rome to preach, but that he was also considered the first Bishop of Rome, Than God would have made it abundantly clear for the whole world to know.
However, it seems that only the Catholic Church believes it to be. The same Church that teaches Mary was immaculately conceived and thus deserves to be worshiped along side Christ.
