Excerpts:
Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Kings 13:18 The old prophet answered, "I too am a prophet, as you are. And an angel said to me by the word of the LORD: 'Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.'" (But he was lying to him.)
Jeremiah 23:16 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD.
Ezekiel 22:27 Her officials within her are like wolves tearing their prey; they shed blood and kill people to make unjust gain.
Daniel 11:34 When they fall, they will receive a little help, and many who are not sincere will join them.
Matthew 7:14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Matthew 24:11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.
Matthew 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect--if that were possible.
Mark 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect--if that were possible.
Luke 6:26 Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.
John 10:12 The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.
Acts 13:6 They traveled through the whole island until they came to Paphos. There they met a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus,
Acts 20:29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.
Romans 16:17 I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.
2 Timothy 3:5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
2 Peter 2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
1 John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Revelation 16:13 Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
Revelation 19:20 But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.
Revelation 20:10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Amen! Well said.
There is a difference. Jesus (The Son) is part of the Godhead. But there is no difference as far as you and I are concerned. Jesus can forgive sins, lay down His life and pick it back up, perform miracles and access heaven and earth in our time. So, do you have a point? Most of what you have posted so far makes no sense to me.
Amen to what you said.
You forgot this bit of blasphemy for that same Mormon owned newspaper article..
“Mother Lucy, most likely still confined to bed, certainly spent most of the day cuddling her sweet baby in her arms, blissfully unaware of the majestic being she lovingly cradled...”
Majestic being? Puke.
Consider these words of warning:
Prov 30:6 Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.
and this:
Rev 22:18 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book;
Mormons claim the Book of Mormon is God's further revelations - an update to the New Testament. But the New Testament seems to say that there are no further books of revelation. We have everything we need.
Nope- David's Royal City according to the Bible is Jerusalem
David's city - for family/descendant records is Bethlehem.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem, not Jerusalem.
Just saw a television add that proclaims that a star will shine in the heavens signaling the revelation that Maitreya is Christ.
Big problem here. He supposedly has been around for a while, yet Jesus (Yeshua)said that his coming will be like the lighting from the east to the west. He also said not to believe it if someone told you to go somewhere to seek him.
The followers of Maitreya do just this. He will probably be the revelation of the Mahdi that Muslims have been waiting for, but never could possibly be Christ.
Yes, Jim, the do refer to Mormon prophets and other modern day ‘prophets’, those who pervert the Bible to lead people away from Christ (even atheists).
Jim, many years ago, when I was a teenager, I didn’t know my Bible, I was only a nominal Christian, and I converted to Mormonism. I didn’t know any better and I was lied to by my Mormon friends and the Mormon missionaries about their teachings. Only after I was a member and really immersed and had a desire to really study and understand their theology (Mormons don’t have anything like systematic theology - they can’t) did I start to compare Mormonism to the Bible. I took quotes like this one very seriously:
“Take up the Bible, compare the religion of the Latter-day Saints with it and see if it will stand the test”
(Brigham Young, May 18, 1873, Journal of Discourses, vol. 16, p. 46.)
Young was dead wrong, not a single unique Mormon doctrine can be proven with the Bible and every one of them can be proven false just using the Bible.
When I really started to read the Bible I began to see that Mormonism is not only false, but spiritually dangerous.
I really appreciate the freedom for the truth that is allowed on the Religion forum. It was people like those here, who challenged me, who got me mad enough to prove them wrong on Mormonism, who got me to try to prove the Bible was fallible (Mormon doctrine) and yet could prove Mormon doctrine ‘true’, that led me out of Mormonism and to Christ and for that I am eternally grateful.
i’m certain St Augustine did not believe God the Father entered history to walk the world as the man Jesus Christ.
This is called “modalism” and is heresy to the Church.
Well, to me, Jesus was just a man. The Only Begotten Son of God is The Christ. Jesus was pure enough that The Christ could live in him in the flesh. Jesus showed the way. This in no way belittles Jesus. The Christ is LOVE. The Christ created all things. The Christ lives in ALL things. Every second, every day, every year.
“I am the Light that is above them all, I am the All, the All came forth from Me and the All attained to Me. Split a piece of wood, I am there. Lift up the stone and you will find Me there.”
The TRUTH LIVES in YOU. It always has. It always will.
It isn’t that hard people. In fact, it is the easiest thing in the world.
Tearing at each other sucks. Stop it.
Yes we will find out one day, but that day will be too late. Contrary to Mormon doctrine, there are no missionaries in “paradise” waiting to teach us Mormonism. There are no second chances. We must all choose in this life to follow Christ or in your case, TP, follow Joseph Smith.
The christ (lower case intentional) of Mormonism is not the Christ of the Bible.
TP, I like you, please get out while you can. Life in Christ is so much better than Mormonism. I know, I’ve been there.
Absolutely Jim ... He was a false prophet.. NOTHING he claimed has ever been supported by sound science ...he was a con man
It’s not only the Book of the Dead, Smith claimed one of the ‘gods’ (Min) from the text was God. For those unfamiliar with Egyptian pantheon, Min is the Egyptian god with the erection.
Rather fitting considering LDS theology...
ROFL. Thanks for pointing that out. Lol. How fitting.
Yup, you got us. Since we do not have that specific Christmas song in our hymnal we must not be Christian. Congratulations, you have won the discussion.
Or, just maybe, that is a bogus argument. There are dozens and dozens of Christmas songs appropriate for Sunday worship service. And we only include 14 of them.
#201 - Joy to the World
#202 - Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful
#203 - Angels We Have Heard on High
#204 - Silent Night
#205 - Once in Royal David's City
#206 - Away in a Manger
#207 - It Came upon the Midnight Clear
#208 - O Little Town of Bethlehem
#209 - Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
#210 - With Wondering Awe
#211 - While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks
#212 - Far, Far Away on Judea's Plains
#213 - The First Noel
#214 - I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
I think that is a decent representative selection. Nope, not all of the available ones. But certainly a good selection.
And it is not that we are leaving room for our Momon-unique hymns. Just before the Christmas hymns are our sacrament hymns. Note #184. The editors must have missed that one.
#172 - In Humility, Our Savior
#173 - While of These Emblems We Partake
#174 - While of These Emblems We Partake
#175 - O God, the Eternal Father
#176 - 'Tis Sweet to Sing the Matchless Love

#196 - Jesus, Once of Humble Birth
#197 - O Savior, Thou Who Wearest a Crown
#198 - That Easter Morn
#199 - He Is Risen!
#200 - Christ the Lord Is Risen Today
Several years back I played a piano solo of What Child is This in a December sacrament meeting. And I amazingly wasn't excommunicated.
I hope your Christmas is blessed.
It is very hard to argue with that logic, HG.
the Church of the living God is the pillar and foundation of the truth.
why?
because the Church is the Body of Christ.
your having a “problem” with the theology/dogma of the Church doesn’t mean a hill of beans.
have a Merry Christ’s Mass!!
If you have a beef with the doctrine in that hymn you will need to take it up with Mrs. Alexander.
“But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:18).
What does Islam have in common with Mormonism, concerning their founding?
