It's a cult
Concord Monitor ^ | October 28, 2011 | Barbara Elms

I like Mitt Romney and believe he could be a fine president under different circumstances. As a born-again Christian, I cannot vote for him. As Dr. Robert Jeffress, pastor of a large Baptist church in Dallas, said, Mormonism is not just another denomination; it is a cult.

Jeffress is a fine man. I have watched him on television for many years, even though I am not a Baptist.

A few years ago, I purchased books, magazines and DVDs from Lamb and Lion Ministries. Two DVDs concerned cults. The largest and most well-known is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

The Jesus of the cults is not the Jesus of our Holy Bible. Their Jesus was conceived by God who once was a man and became God by being good. This god had sex with Mary so came Jesus. God has a wife, therefore, a Mother God and Father God. They had many other children. Jesus and Lucifer are brothers.

Mormons believe if they are good enough they can become a god, and have their own planet. The Mormon church never has a cross outside, or inside, because you don't honor a murder weapon. Our Jesus gave up His life and shed His blood on the cross so that we might be saved. They take communion with bread and water; they hate the blood. Mormons don't get to go into the big Temples very often. They mainly go to be baptized for people who died years ago so that they could go to heaven. Mormons must not drink coffee or tea, and be married for life to go into the big Temple. They have three Heavens.

Butt boy: A servile underling. Especially one who is also a sycophant. A suck up or brown-noser. Synonomous with "toadie" or "stooge." A butt boy does his Master's dirty work.

This looks like pure and unadulterated bigotry and intolerance toward butt boys. Do you have something against buttboys? What I want to know is, why is pure and unadulterated bigotry toward butt boys ok but the same is not acceptable toward others?

Cordially,

Members are allowed to keep property. Lack of violence towards others and in discipline for LDS. No starvation-indoctrination. Members are allowed to keep jobs apart from their faith.

“Cult” is normally used today to apply to organizations like scientologists. There are several ways to use the word, and in some of them Jeffress was right, in my opinion. But I don’t think most folks use the word that way, at least in general parlance. If Jeffress had been able to show his comments clearly, it really wasn’t that shocking at all. “Even his “you should only vote for other Christians” was clarified.

Mitt isn’t a Marxist. He won’t stop us from crashing, but perhaps he’ll slow the rate at which we hit the ground.

If we crash with Mitt and we most surely would, republicans would forever have the blame laid at their door for what Obama set in motion. No, better to have a full blown communist Obama bear the blame forever and perhaps take the democrat/socialist/communist party down with him. Romney/Obama is Socialist light or socialist. I will never vote for either of them.

I'm Baptist too friend and I will never vote for a candidate who is a cultist and help validate that "religion" all over the world. There are dozens of reasons to not vote for Romney and for me, his cultism is right at the top. Anybody gullible enough to swallow Mormonism is not presidential material.

The lesser of two evils? I'm hard pressed to tell which is the lesser and even if I could, evil is evil, no matter how you cut it.

By the way, I'd not vote for a republican ticket, no matter which spot Mitt was in on it and I am in good company.

I’m not voting for any ticket that has Romney top or bottom. Will happily support any combination of Bachmann, Cain, Perry, Palin, Gingrich, Santorum, Rubio, Ryan, Walker, DeMint, et al, that does not hook up with Romney.

FUMR!! NO MORE RINOS!!

If you actually study in what they believe, they steer away from God’s Holy word, the Bible, and have extra Biblical supposed “ Revelation “ in the book of Mormons by some kook called Joe Smith.

I completely agree with you. They do those things. But just to be obstinate, Hari Chrishnas don’t believe in the Bible, have their own beliefs and don’t even accept Jesus Christ as the only Son of the living God. Buddhists the same....there are others. Yet we don’t call all of THEM cults. Okay, most fair-minded people don’t call them cults.

Isn’t it really just that Mormons tend to call themselves “christian” when they clearly are not that really ticks us off?

Sorry, but I think you are daydreaming. Let us know what your religion is, and I can come up with plenty of crap to throw at it, and so can others. I can even find plenty of crap to throw at my own religion. I do not care what the person's religion is, unless they are radical Muslims, it has no bearing on anything.

I have very little respect for someone that breathes, eats and sleeps dissing someone Else's religion, and then claims to be a good christian. Just know that almost anyone reading that nonsense in a post cringes at the hypocrisy. Just pick apart the Candidates views, policies, record, and their overall outlook on life, leave religion out of it. When we diss each other when we all believe in God, that leaves a huge pathway for Godless cretins to come in and take over.

Not at all. It all depends upon whom they are butt boys for. For example, I would gladly cast a ballot for a NRA butt boy. In fact, now that I think about it, I probably have.

Cheers,

“Dont Christians spend money sending out missionaries across the earth to tell people of other religions that their faith is wrong?”

I can’t speak for every Christian, since I don’t know them all.
I can tell you with absolute confidence that every Christian missionary I know is there to tell the good news of the Gospel of Christ - freely given to all. They are not there to promote a particular Church or to condemn other Churches - as mormon missionaries do.

I read words such those you have written as the lowest form of rationalization for letting one's vote go in limp-wristed capitulation to selecting the least worst of somehow inevitable candiates. I have no respect for it. If the Republican Party can't muster a conservative candidate of good repute and judgement, then I'm not part of it. ---------------------------- Uh-huh That's okay. As I said, Romney wouldn't be my choice -- but in the end, if they were the two we were left to choose from, it wouldn't matter if I voted for Romney (as I said) or a 3rd Party candidate, or wrote a candidate in. The result would be the same. Either way, I could care less, because I have about as much "respect" for your opinion as you apparently have for mine. Real neighborly of ya. You're a great patriot.

If a flip floppin abortion fan and gun control fan doesn’t scare you, then his racist religion ought to

Especially as you call youself a Baptist, this man has ZERO Holy Spirit living within him, his personal beliefs are that YOU are a cultist and followign a false doctrine and that only HE will go to heaven

LOL Did you read my post? I am well aware of what Mormons believe. Are you aware that we are not electing a National Pastor? Would you NOT have voted for John Adams? Thomas Jefferson? These are fair questions!

Get off your fire-breathing Fundamentalist platform for a minute and THINK man! Baptists aren’t the only “good” Americans! Protestants aren’t the ONLY people qualified to hold Public Office! That might be my preference (and yours), but we don’t always get the “perfect” candidates in a Republic.

Is a POTUS a ‘minister’ of sorts?

Apparently, Patriot Preacher might say ‘no.’

I say ‘yes’.....
_____________________

You have every right to this belief, Colo. Please understand, however, that your belief defies practically everything the Founders of our nation intended when they gave us our Constitutional Republic.

That we were a “moral and religious people” according to John Adams did not mean that the man in the White House was to be a Shepherd to us in a religious sense.

The Founders agreed with the Biblical idea set forth by Scottish clergyman Samuel Rutherford in his book “Lex Rex” that the “king” or leader of a people was subject to the Law, and that the Law was to be the “Higher Power” (Romans 13) of the Land. In our case, the Higher Power is the Constitution, NOT the President. What does EVERY Public Official swear an oath to defend?

To the extent that “righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34), our President SHOULD be a moral and upright person. In Romans 13 the government is said to be “minister to you for GOOD...” What does that mean? In the Roman Empire, how did THAT work out? How could Paul write that? Rome wasn’t a “minister” were they? In fact, the the extent that the Bible MANDATES the role of Human Government (Genesis 9, Romans 13), YES, they were.

But WE are our Government according to the Constitution. We have a vote. A say. Whom do we entrust with that vote?Would Mitt Romney be someone that would be a “minister for GOOD” in the sense of enforcing public laws, general right and wrong, punishing criminals — or how about being honest with us, carrying out the agenda the American People desire etc? THAT is why I oppose Mitt Romney. I don’t trust him. Still and yet, compared to Barack Obama, Mitt is head and shoulders ABOVE him on that score.

That still doesn’t make him a “righteous” man, but that’s NOT the standard Paul (nor Moses in Genesis 9) was shooting for in Human Government. We are not comparable to Israel in the Old Testament. Enough with the simplistic notions that “righteous” and “good” and “perfect” must all mean the same thing and that if we don’t get the EXACT candidate WE demand, we’ll quit and go home — or “write one in.” Beware — we do that much, and we won’t have a home to go to, or a nation to live in.

I have no problem with it, no. But it’s irrelevant anyway. I don’t care about my President’s theology, as long as it’s not some branch of the Church of Hate (like Obama’s church is.) I care about what he’d do as President, and that is reason enough to oppose him.
