***He was also an embezzler, a fraudster and a false prophet.***

Wonder if his ailed bank could have survived with a government Obamabailout? ;-D

Because that's what it is. Perhaps that information is true but "hurtful".,/i>

Um, I really can't come up with a counter argument to your point that is better than your own words...

I don’t have to pray over the Bible to know that adultery, murder, robbery, etc. are sins. Therefore I do not have to pray over the Book of Mormon to know that it’s a fake religion.

Well if he did get an "anti-banking" bailout, the American people would have to had been "con"vinced to accept $3 bills as repayment. Might not have worked out too well.

Warren Parrish, who had been an officer in the bank and had apostatized from the Church, made this statement: “I have listened to him [i.e. Smith] with feelings of no ordinary kind, when he declared that the AUDIBLE VOICE OF GOD, INSTRUCTED HIM TO ESTABLISH A BANKING-ANTI BANKING INSTITUTION, who like Aaron’s rod SHALL SWALLOW UP ALL OTHER BANKS (the Bank of Monroe excepted,) and grow and flourish and spread from the rivers to the ends of the earth, and survive when all others should be laid in ruins.” (Painesville Republican, February 22, 1838, as quoted in Conflict at Kirtland, page 297)

"Construction of the temple had temporarily boosted the economy of Kirtland, but after the dedication the economy declined as poor converts arrived in ever increasing numbers. The old settlers attempted to keep them out of Kirtland by economic pressures, but the Mormon population increased twentyfold while the landholdings only quadrupled. In November 1836 Joseph and other church leaders drew up articles for a bank to provide capital for investments. It was a desperate gamble. Oliver Cowdery went to Philadelphia for plates to print bank notes, and Orson Hyde went to the legislature in Columbus with a petition for a bank license. It was refused. Oliver returned with plates for the Kirtland Safety Society Bank, but Orson Hyde came back without a charter. The plates were so expensive that they printed some specie anyway, writing in "Anti" before the word "Bank" and "ing" after it. The notes read, "Kirtland Safety Society Anti-Banking Company," and the paper passed as legal tender from a joint-stock company. At first the money circulated wildly. When merchants and businessmen who were more sophisticated than the Mormons began to redeem their notes, Joseph could see that a run would ruin the bank. After one month he and Sidney Rigdon resigned as officers but the bank failed. This affected Joseph's status.

People who were convinced that Joseph had intended a swindle at the outset attacked him verbally and threatened him physically. This disruption forced Joseph to leave the city frequently....

In April 1837 Joseph went into hiding without seeing Emma before he left. (Mormon Enigma, pp. 62)

“We have come to tell you about the news that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored after being taken from the earth because no one was worthy to follow Jesus’ Apostles until Joseph Smith became a prophet....
___________________________________________

Gosh GF I was just reading the Christian Bible...

and I read that there STill is “no one () worthy to follow Jesus”

Not even Joey Smith...

Even John the Baptist said he was not worthy enough...

“I baptize with water,” John replied, “but among you stands one you do not know. He is the one who comes after me, the thongs of whose sandals I AM NOT WORTHY to untie.” John 1:26, 27

So even John the Baptist was not worthy...

Well who was or is worthy ???

Only the LORD Jesus Christ who is God forever...

and He has not returned yet..

In Heaven we the Christians, the believers will sing...

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” Revelation 4:11

And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” Revelation 5:2

But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Revelation 5:5

And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. Revelation 5:9

In a loud voice they sang: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” Revelation 5:12

WOW

But getting back to John the Baptist and Joey Smith...

John the Baptist lived a more humble life than Joey Smith...

and while Smith wore the finest clothes tailored for him, and ate the finest foods, and drive or rode everywhere, John wore humble clothes or animal skins and ate whatever he could find and walked...

John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. Matthew 3:4

So Joey Smith did not measure up to John the Baptist in humility or worthiness or righteousness or as a prophet..

and Jesus said there has never been any as great as John the Baptist...

what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings’ palaces. Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the one about whom it is written: ‘I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’ tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of Heaven is greater than he. Matthew 11:8-11

So according to Joey Smith and his mormons, Joey Smith was not least in the kingdom...

therefore he was not greater than John the Baptist...

and if John the Batist was not worthy...

so too was Joey Smith even less worthy...

There are none righteous no not one...Romans 3:10

Well if nobody is righteous (worthy) to restore anything pertaining to our righteous God, what happened ???

Well nothing...

Nothing needed restoring EVER...

There is no need for dead dunking, polygamy or any other of mans lustful ideas...

The LORD Jesus Christ is worthy and capable of looking after His Word...

and when he said that the Church was not going anywhere, He told the truth...

and when the pervert child rapist and thief Joey Smith claimed to have “restored” something that Jesus was incapable of protecting, Smith lied...

Who ya gonna believe ???

Jesus who is God or the godless Joey Smith ???

So we can continue to ask the mormons...

“If you insist on claiming that Joey Smith “restored” the church, the Bride of Christ ..

Then tell us...

HOW DID JESUS “LOSE” HIS BRIDE ???”

I’ve been telling fellow Freepers I’m an atheist (when it’s apropos to the thread) for as long as I’ve been here (not quite four years I think). And I’m far from the only one.

If we’ve reached the stage on FR where truth is offensive, there’s a problem here.

Galatians 4:16
Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?

It was a testimony, and I know this to be true.

And others have an exact OPPOSITE 'testimony'; where they know it is NOT true.

Now how do a person determine which is right?

The "information" is largely slander, and it's posted in the most hurtful and insulting way possible.

Well Consuler; you've TOLD the jury this; now: can we see some EVIDENCE to back up what you so glibbly claim?

Or are YOU slandering folks by ACCUSING them of slander?
