HINDUS HAVE applauded Pope Benedict for including verse from ancient Hindu scripture Upanishads in the Good Friday Meditations and Prayers led by him at Roman Colosseum.
Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it was a remarkable gesture from Pope and invited him to study more ancient Hindu scriptures, which were very rich in philosophical thought. He or other Hindu scholars would gladly provide the help and resources in this regard, if asked, Zed added.
Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, also commended His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI for inclusion of a verse from India’s Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s Gitanjali and reference to peace icon Mahatma Gandhi in these prayers.
This year’s 'Way of the Cross at the Colesseum' Meditations and Prayers on Good Friday, led by Pope, included well-known verse from Brahadaranyakopanishad (“Lead me from the unreal to the real, from darkness to light, from death to immortality”), line from Tagore’s Gitanjali (“Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service”) and reference to Mahatma Gandhi.
Rajan Zed stressed that all religions should work together for a just and peaceful world. Dialogue would bring us mutual enrichment, he added.
Pope Benedict heads the Roman Catholic Church, which is the largest of the Christian denominations. Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents and moksha (liberation) is its ultimate goal.

But, my heart tells me that I wish I knew enough Latin to tell you (in Latin of course) to “Lighten up Francis”.
We’d have to travel a dozen galactic clusters over down that road to even rise to the gravel under the foundation of the edifice the RC’s hereon have erected of that ilk.

I might be speaking out of turn here, but I doubt Quix would pay it much attention. Prayers are fine, but we proddys would rather you leave the rosary out of it.

you can expect a response from a lot of us, me included.
What leaves you convinced that you deserve special treatment and life-time free passes on that score?
All the Proddys I know have a greater attraction to clean fingers than stalking would allow.

Way I see it is there is a boxing match been going on for centuries between RC’s and proddy’s. Sometimes blood gets spilled. So naturally from time to time this boxing match is going to find its way on FR.
It all comes down to ‘heresy’. The RC’s yell HERETIC towards the proddy for daring to question the pope, the magisterium and the extra-biblical creeds and sacraments they hold dear.
The proddy in turn yells HERETIC towards the RC’s for violating Scripture, and teaching as Doctrine the traditions of Men which Christ Himself rebuked.
If you ask me its a battle between Scripture and tradition. Scripture will always come out on top. God’s Word will always, ALWAYS prevail so the RC’s have their panties in a wad. You see deep down they KNOW Scripture is the higher authority even though they can’t openly admit it, so the gnashing of teeth and anger and attempts to silence any forms of dissent. The proddy on the otherhand is secure in those same Scriptures and can afford to be humorous about the debates, even empoying satire and sarcasm every once in a while and thus usually has a thicker skin. JMO.
