In Christ Alone lyrics
Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;
In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save
?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live
There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ
What is the source of magic then?
Any supernatural occurrences must have a source, no?
Very probably true. And so we preach to all men everywhere, confident that if God wants a man to understand He will give Him the Holy Spirit to guide him, and equip him with new ears and new eyes to believe the Scriptures and be saved by God's grace through faith in Christ's work on the cross.
We all start out in darkness. Whether or not we come into the light is God's call.
And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will." -- 2 Timothy 2:25-26 "In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
Based on what evidence?
If you believe that everything that exists is materialpart of the physical universe, then you cant have laws of logic because the laws of logic are not physical.
Laws of logic are abstractions based on the physical world or on imagined or pretend-reality axioms that represent material concepts.
The ultimate proof of logic is in the material world from which it comes. Thus, if A=B, and B=C, then A=C must have some basis in reality, the symbols representing real things. Otherwise, the equations are meaningless.
Certainly they can. Protestants do not encumber their faith with endless, meaningless rituals and blasphemous superstitions and heretical adoration of earthly creatures.
Protestants' faith is simple and found on every page of Scripture -- believe in Jesus Christ as Lord, God and Savior and be saved.
Jesus said that believing in Him was so simple a child could do it.
Yet Rome says Jesus was wrong.
"Be not afraid; only believe." - Mark 5:36
Rome is wrong.
Magicians.
Any supernatural occurrences must have a source, no?
What "supernatural" source? What is "supernatural?"
kosta: Based on what evidence?
Is your will physical? Are your thoughts physical? What about your hopes and dreams? Interests? Hobbies? Likes and dislikes? Appreciation of beauty or music?
It wasn't because God never told them. Pretty early on, as a matter of fact.
Genesis 3:15 - And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.
How do magicians do magic?
What "supernatural" source? What is "supernatural?"
Anything outside the natural.
But magic cannot have a natural source or it wouldn't be considered magic.
How do you explain events which defy the known laws of nature? What is the mechanism which supersedes them?
Sure. My will is a product of my needs and desires, appetitive drives caused by my material makeup. Your hunger is biochemical. So is your thirst. These are "perceptions" or signals caused by our physical reality.
Pleasure is physiologically based, just as pain is. Hobbies, choice of music are activities that produce pleasure, most if not all are actually learned by conditioning.
By trickery.
Anything outside the natural.
Like what?
But magic cannot have a natural source or it wouldn't be considered magic
LOL, who says?
How do you explain events which defy the known laws of nature?
Such as?
What is the mechanism which supersedes them?
I don't know of anything that supersedes natural laws. If something exists in nature it is natural whether we understand it or not.
"Do you believe in transubstantiation?"
No I don't.
"Or since it's considered a miracle like the others that you appear to dismiss, do you write that off as *magic* as well?"
Yes.
"If the miracles in the Bible are all magic as your posts indicate you conclude they are, why go to mass? Isn't it then just a magic show?"
To me it is.
Instead of trashing the apostle Paul, RC apologists' time might be better spent instructing guys like Kosta who says the mass and the miracles of Christ are all a "magic show."
Does this mean that Kosta50 is anathematized by Rome like Protestants?
It takes a lot of convoluted mind twisting to get a messiah out of that verse, imo.
Actually, not really. They knew even back then that God would provide a way for man to be reunited to him. Like I said, it was a start. I could continue to provide you the rest of the 200+ "Messianic" prophesies, but something tells me you (a) already know what I am talking about and (b) aren't all that interested in hearing them again. Not mind-reading here, just my observation.
Don’t ping me.
I was never a Roman Catholic, so your question is moot. The Orthodox anathematize only those who teach doctrines contrary to the Church. I do not preach another faith, so there is no reason to anathematize me. I have removed myself from the Church. If anything the Church would pray that I find my way back.
