What Mormon Missionaries WON'T Tell You
Contender Ministries [False Religions] ^ | unknown | anonymous

Posted on 10/15/2010 5:39:02 PM PDT by delacoert

Most of us have had a Mormon Missionary knock at our door.  If you have ever invited them in and listened to a presentation of their beliefs, you probably found most but not all of what they said very similar to those beliefs held by Christians.  However, while trying to convince you that your Church is wrong and the Mormon Church is right, there are several points they intentionally leave out.  Below is a list of Mormon beliefs the missionaries will be reluctant to tell you about:

They will be reluctant to tell you that the God they worship was not always God.

"We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity.  I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see."  (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 345)

They will be reluctant to tell you that they believe Jesus Christ is the spirit brother of Satan:

"The appointment of Jesus to be the Savior of the world was contested by one of the other sons of God.  He was called Lucifer, son of the morning.  Haughty, ambitious, and covetous of power and glory, this spirit-brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the Savior of mankind."  (Milton R. Hunter, Gospel Through the Ages, pg.15)

They will be reluctant to tell you that, according to Mormonism, Jesus Christ was a polygamist.

"I discover that some of the Eastern papers represent me as a great blasphemer, because I said, in my lecture on Marriage, at our last Conference, that Jesus Christ was married at Cana of Galilee, that Mary, Martha, and others were his wives, and that he begat children."  (Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses 2:210)

The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathemas upon Christ and his disciples, causing his crucifixion, was evidently based upon polygamy, according to the testimony of the philosophers who rose in that age.  A belief in the doctrine of a plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus and his followers.  We might almost think they were 'Mormons'" (Jedediah M. Grant, Journal of Discourses, 1:346)

They will be reluctant to tell you that for at least half a century church leaders were teaching that Adam was really God and the only God with whom we have to do.

"Now hear it, O inhabitants of the earth, Jew and Gentile, Saint and sinner!  When our father Adam came into the garden of Eden, he came into it with a celestial body, and brought Eve, one of his wives, with him.  He helped to make and organize this world.  He is Michael, the Archangel, the Ancient of Days! about whom holy men have written and spoken--He is our Father, and our God, and the only God with whom we have to do."  (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 1:50)

"I have learned by experience that there is but one God that pertains to this people and he is the god that pertains to this earth--The first man.  That first man sent his own son to redeem the world..."(Heber C. Kimball, Journal of Discourses 4:1)

They will be reluctant to tell you that Brigham Young, who held the office of President of the Mormon church longer than any other man, taught that men must practice polygamy in order to become Gods.

"The only men who become Gods, even the Sons of God, are those who enter into polygamy."  (Journal of Discourses 11:269)

They will be reluctant to tell you that the book of Mormon fails to contain any Mormon doctrine

Many portions of this Mormon Scripture even contradicts Mormon theology.

They will be reluctant to tell you about their secret temple ceremonies which, until April 1990, portrayed Christian ministers as hirelings of Satan.  Nor will they tell you about the sacred underwear they are wearing which, they believe, actually protects them.

They will be reluctant to tell you that Mormon leaders have taught that Jesus was conceived by way of a sexual relationship between God and Mary.

"..how are children begotten?  I answer just as Jesus Christ was begotten of his father.  The difference between Jesus Christ and other men is this:  Our fathers in the flesh are mortal men, who are subject unto death: but the Father of Jesus Christ in the flesh is the god of Heaven" (Joseph F. Smith, Family Home Evening Manual, 1972, pg. 125)

They will be reluctant to tell you that they believe the bible has been corrupted throughout the centuries and cannot be trusted fully by itself.

"I believe the Bible as it read when it came from the pen of the original writers.  Ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph smith, pg.327)

"But the Bible has been robbed of its plainness; many sacred books having been lost, others rejected by the Romish Church, and what few we have left, were copied and recopied so many times, that it is admitted that almost every verse has been corrupted and mutilated to that degree that any two of them read alike." (Orson Pratt, The Seer, pg.213)

They will be reluctant to tell you that the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants, which they claim to be both sacred and without error, contradict each other many times.

For example, in the Book of Mormon, God called David and Solomon's act of polygamy an abomination, whereas in the Doctrine and Covenants He claims to justify it.  Jacob 2:24 in the Book of Mormon says, "Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord."  Section 132:1 in the Doctrine and Covenants, however, states: "Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you my servant Joseph, that inasmuch as you have inquired of my hand to know and understand wherein I, the Lord, justified my servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as also Moses, David and Solomon, my servants, as touching the principle and doctrine of their having many wives and concubines."

They will be reluctant to tell you that they use Christian terms with Mormon meanings.

For example, a Mormon would probably agree with you that a person must be born again.  To the Mormon, however, "born again" is a process which begins with water baptism.  Another example are the words "salvation" and exaltation," which are synonymous in the Christian's mind.  However, general salvation to the Mormon merely means the resurrection which everyone in the world will receive at death.  Exaltation, or individual salvation, is the reward earned by the Mormon by following the laws of the Moron church.  "Eternal Life" to the Mormon means Godhood.  Regarding the word "scriptures," the Christian thinks of the Holy Bible while the Mormon could be thinking of not only the Bible but the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price as well.

They won't want to tell you that in order to gain entrance into the highest form of Mormon heaven, the Celestial kingdom, you must accept Joseph Smith, Jr. as a prophet of god.  Faith in Jesus alone, Mormonism teaches, will force you to spend eternity in a lower form of heaven.

Tenth LDS President Joseph Fielding Smith stated in his book, doctrines of Salvation, that there is "No salvation without accepting Joseph Smith.  The word "salvation," used in this context, must really mean "exaltation" because former Mormon apostle Bruce R. McConkie stated in his book Mormon Doctrine that general salvation is given to everyone regardless of belief.  Personal salvation or exaltation to the highest form of Mormon heaven comes only by accepting Joseph Smith as a prophet of god and by following the laws of the LDS church.

They will be reluctant to tell you that their founder, Joseph Smith, Jr., made many false prophecies which, according to the Bible, would classify him as a false prophet rather than a true prophet of God.

For instance, in 1835 Smith claimed that the Lord would again come in just 56 years.  We would gather from this "prophecy" that Jesus Christ would again come to earth on or before 1891; no doubt Joseph Smith was incorrect (History of the church 2:182).  In 1832 Joseph Smith claimed he had a revelation concerning the building of a temple in Independence, Missouri.  According to section 84, verses 4 and 5, of the Doctrine and Covenants, he stated this "temple shall be reared in this generation.  For verily this generation shall not pass away until an house shall be built unto the Lord, and a cloud shall rest upon it..."  to this day the spot consecrated by Smith fails to be the sight of a great temple, but instead is covered with a well-kept lawn.  In fact, the Mormon church does not even own the land.

Time to find a religion that gives you something affirmative to preach, not just tearing down others with lies.

I guess you admit that SOME of it is NOT LIES!!

Would you PLEASE differentiate between the GOOD stuff and the BAD stuff so LURKERS will no longer be confused of what is authentic??

I’m sorry this is all your current church equips you to do, negativity, rather than putting out a positive message.

I am POSITIVE that since 1981, I've heard NOTHING from my church about MORMONism.

They have, however, EQUIPPED me for the task by teaching what the WORD of GOD says.

Acts 2:42
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

 Acts 4:2
They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.

Acts 5:42
Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.

Acts 13:1
In the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul.

 Acts 13:12
When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord.

Acts 17:18-19
 18.  A group of Epicurean and Stoic philosophers began to dispute with him. Some of them asked, "What is this babbler trying to say?" Others remarked, "He seems to be advocating foreign gods." They said this because Paul was preaching the good news about Jesus and the resurrection.
 19.  Then they took him and brought him to a meeting of the Areopagus, where they said to him, "May we know what this new teaching is that you are presenting?

Acts 18:11
So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.

Romans 15:4
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Romans 16:17
I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.

1 Corinthians 4:17
For this reason I am sending to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.

1 Corinthians 11:2
 2.  I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the teachings,  just as I passed them on to you.

Ephesians 4:14-15
 14.  Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.
 15.  Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.

2 Thessalonians 2:15
So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings  we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

2 Thessalonians 3:6
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching  you received from us.

1 Timothy 1:3-4
 3.  As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer
 4.  nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God's work--which is by faith.

1 Timothy 1:7
They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.

1 Timothy 2:7
And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.

1 Timothy 4:1-2
 1.  The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
 2.  Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

1 Timothy 4:6
If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.

1 Timothy 4:11
  Command and teach these things.

1 Timothy 6:3-5
 3.  If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching,
 4.  he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions
 5.  and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

2 Timothy 1:13
What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus.

 2 Timothy 2:15-17
 15.  Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
 16.  Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
 17.  Their teaching will spread like gangrene.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
 16.  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
 17.  so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

 2 Timothy 4:3-4
  3.  For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
  4.  They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

Titus 1:11
They must be silenced, because they are ruining whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach--and that for the sake of dishonest gain.

Titus 2:1
You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine.

Titus 2:15
These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.

 Hebrews 13:9
Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.

 2 Peter 2:1-3
 1.  But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
 2.  Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
 3.  In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

2 John 1:10
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him.

Why aren't they?

Simple: they don't need to.

They have enough folks deceived now to continue paying their tithes to keep the Leadership in the lifestyle to which they are now accustomed.

Today on his radio program, Glenn Beck stated almost word for word what two apologists have stated in this thread, that it is Jesus Christ who saves, that they are trusting the Jesus of the Bible to be their Savior, and that makes them Christians. Sadly, when the quotes from his own teachers in Mormonism are sent to Glenn, he has no time to read them or think about how the Mormon jesus is so different from the Jesus of the Bible. I suppose Glenn counts on his work now to be counted as ‘after all that he can do’, so God will owe him salvation in the Jesus of the Bible even if he affirms with his presence and tithes and affirmations of the Mormon prophets that he believes in the Mormon jesus. I wonder, why did Jesus ask His disciples “Who do YOU say that I AM?” To the Mormon mind, just about any definition of Whom Jesus IS will be good enough ... to the god of Momronism that is.

That is a bit more senical than I’m willing to be, at this point. But the more I learn of Mormonism and the more back-and-forth I have with Mormons, the more I’m leaning to a very high authority in the cult knowing they are duping the people but giving themselves absolution with some twisted rationalization. I mean, there is so MUCH error in Mormonism, how could someone with the full knowledge—which we assume the central thirteen top dogs have—of Mormonism NOT see the gross contradictions to the specious assertion that Mormonism is ‘restored christianity’? The apologists on these thread refuse to read the evidence, so they may have an excuse (though the scriptures caution, ‘they are without excuse’) for their ignorance, but the top dogs like Gordon B Hinckley, who played word games to avoid straight up full answers on the Snow couplet or the issue of blacks which would embarass the cult?

I think you've hit the primary nail right on the head! ...

"If Mormons want an honest relationship with Christ, they need to be honest with themselves first. They need to explore and find the truth. IF they can not, then they are afraid to let go of a lie and that lie separates them from God."

If a person allows deceit to fester within their soul, they will eventually reach the point that they become at some level conscious they are into a lie yet decide that it is worth it to their agenda, usually rationalizing that there really is no god, or rationalizing that god will grant them absolution because of the other good stuff they believe they've done in their life. Sadly, God hates that stuff so they have actually committed sin that is unforgiveable because they have rejected the Holy Spirit effort to have them walk in the Truth. Jesus explained it with the analogy of leaven in dough, which meant something important to the Jew who was instructed to use un-leavened bread in rituals of worship. He also taught that it isn't what goes int he mouth that defiles the soul, it is what comes up out of the depths of the soul. If deceit is at the heart, partial truth is of no effect.

I recommend reading The Secret Ceremony" by Deborah Laake.
Ceremonies is Deborah Laake's bizarre memoir of her evolution from a devout Mormon to a disenfranchised divorcee verging on a mental breakdown, and learning more about the untold aspects of Mormonism, especially from an ex-Mormon.

It sets forth many of the ceremonies, many of the beliefs, many of the false, misdirect ions that the Mormon 'faith' practices. Before the ‘excommunicated Mormon’ (branded as a witch) Deborah died, she related how Mormons were 'instructed' to steal her book from bookstores..to negate her information getting out.

Why does that remind me of Muslims’ justified teachings of 'lying to the infidels'?

No and it's not my argument. My argument is one person of a faith, regardless of a faith within the Body of Christ or not, it is their duty to evangelize. So why would anyone be upset at another believer of a faith evangelizing?

I kind of expect them to be evangelizing...even if their faith isn't, in my view, the ONE true Church.

The geological (or lack of) discrepancies aside, I want to focus on the nature and behavior of Christ. The contradictions presented between the two books.

The judgements spoken of in Revelation are considered to be expected after the 5th Seal is broken (The things that occur preceding the opening of the book). Is it your contention that regardless of the 5th Seal, God will contradict Himself and cast down judgement upon whole cities and civilizations contrary to the timeline given in the written word?

Were there not cities or civilizations in the ME that could have merited an equal judgement? Are there no more martyrs to be had that merit the justice according to Revelations?

Verse 11: “And there was given to each of them a white robe; and they were told that they should rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed even as they had been, would be completed also.”

This verse tells us that there are many more martyrs yet to come into the presence of Christ before He vindicates them.

If what you’re saying is correct, then Christ would have been destroying cities and civilizations everytime a martyr was made. Present endurance will be vindicated in the end, not each and everytime.

According to Revelations, He will vindicate His name at a time of His choosing, not ours. And from all appearances, He is going to do it one time.

John is indicating in Revelations that the Day of Judgement is an unrepeatable event and that when it happens, everything will be affected. It is universal, not confined to one region.

His wrath is indicative of the righteous justice that has built up and built up and then one day is unleashed.

My contention about the nature of the two Christs stands.

From my understanding, the BoM Christ’s actions clearly contradict the expectations given to us about what we can expect from Christ as described in the Book of Revelations.

No, I'm saying those who are LDS are believer in their faith and we should expect them to be evangelizing....and NOT being angry or upset they're evangelizing.

I'm simply surprised that folks here get angry when one is evangelizing. You should be working equally as hard or harder to teach/defend/evangelize your faith.

And Yes, I believe the LDS is clearly outside the Body of Christ.

Defeat is getting mad when someone else is evangelizing. I'd rather beat em with arguments stemming from what I believe is the ONE true Church.

Do you think so many Mormons don't want to know the truth because if they were to realize that Mormonism is wrong, that would mean everyone they love/ in their family is wrong? Do you think that pain might be holding them back?

"If a person allows deceit to fester within their soul, they will eventually reach the point that they become at some level conscious they are into a lie yet decide that it is worth it to their agenda, "

I watched Glenn Beck's mormonism video clip and he said something to the fact that he "wanted to drink the kool aid" because he wanted happiness that the mormons were having. I kind of think at some level, Beck knows the kookiness of Mormonism but he has deliberately ignored it so he could have a sable family life. I couldn't risk my family's soul for that.

Jesus explained that the reason for such great destruction among certain cities of the Nephites. It was the shedding of the blood of the prophets and the saints and casting our the righteous from among them.

Are you "righteous", Normandy?

I had a pastor many years ago.....ask at least 200 people at the service...if anyone was "righteous" to stand up. Nobody did. He then proceeded to teach everyone there....that we were righteous "in Christ".

It was a long time ago...and I wanted to stand up when he called out...but I wasn't sure....I am now.

I AM righteous in Christ!!
