My son in law, Sam, went into the ER with severe abdominal pain the night before last; a CT scan showed a bowel obstruction, tumor, on the right side. He had surgery last night, and 5-6 inches of bowel were removed due to cancer. The doctors said there was no way to foresee this, as he is fairly young. He and my daughter have insurance to take care of the medical expenses, but they have three children under 15. After the surgery, the doctor said he was "cautiously optimistic" but the pathology reports are not due until Thursday, and at that time they'll start to work up a treatment plan.
This is a tremendous unforeseen blow to this nice young family, I'm babysitting for the grandkids while my daughter spends time at the hospital. She's strong, and so is he, their faith is in the Lord. He's Baptist, she's Catholic, they've been happily married 16 years.
Praying
Dear Lord...sometimes there are bends in the road and hard to understand their meaning...but you know...you know exactly. So with this in mind do tend to all that is needed in this situation, what might be unknown make know so that this man might recover well and continue to be the father and husband to the wife and children you gave to him....and thank you Lord, for we know that all our times are in your hands and outcomes according to your will in Christ Jesus...Amen
We are all more grateful than we can express for the loving prayers of FReepers. Thank you, every one, from the bottom of my heart.
I will try to be more diligent about posting updates. It’s just hard to believe he is so ill, so quickly. Especially during the Easter season, this is rough. Three years ago this month, Anne’s father, my husband, was dying from cancer. Now this. We really are very anxious for Sam’s recovery.
Lord, hear these prayers and mine for Sam, for his wife and kids, and for all others who might give him strength. Amen
Father, on this glorious Spring day we come humbly asking your healing for Sam. Just as the winter has past and all the earth evidences new life, we beseech you, Lord, to touch Sam and bring forth renewed health, faith, and peace. Extend your blessings, we pray, to Sam’s family and caregivers; imbue them with love, patience, knowledge and endurance. We lift our prayers to you, Lord, for Sam’s comfort and recovery.

Prayers for your daughter, SIL and grand kids. For you as well. I can only imagine the stress you all must be living under right now.
Hang tough.

Prayers for your SIL Sam and your whole family.
Praying here, that is rough.
Also the paralegal in me is saying DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!
Prayers for Sam & your family.
Judith Anne......these words come to mind as I think of you in this uncertain time....It comes from a long known tune......”When you walk thru a storm hold your head up high and don’t be afraid of the dawn,....walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart cause you never walk alone, no you never walk alone........”
Praying hard for your son-in-law, Sam, and your daughter and family.
What your family has gone through and is going through now is similar to what my family experienced. Please don’t lose hope. Your SIL can recover from the infections. (My father did.) Once Sam recovers from the infections, he may need physical rehabilitation before starting cancer treatment. Don’t take “no” for an answer. Stay strong!
More prayers for Sam and your entire family, Judith Anne.
Oh my, I’m adding my prayers.
Thanks to everyone, most gratefully. God bless and keep FReepers...
