Who are the Catholics: The Orthodox or The Romanists, or both?
Me

I just witnessed a couple of Orthodox posters get kicked off a "Catholic Caucus" thread. I thought, despite their differences, they had a mutual understanding that each sect was considered "Catholic". Are not the Orthodox considered Catholic? Why do the Romanists get to monopolize the term "Catholic"?
I consider myself to be Catholic being a part of the universal church of Christ. Why should one sect be able to use a universal concept to identify themselves in a caucus thread while other Christian denominations need to use specific qualifiers to identify themselves in a caucus thread?

I don't know if it's come up on this thread yet, but I've seen "MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH" used before as well as, "Synagogue of Satan". That's your mother church...And that's bible...That has never been directed at individual Catholics...Try again...

From what I read, He wasn't too happy about that! Amen!
Glad to know I wasn't the only one to read it! ;-)

"The burden is on you to show the biblical new testament church had a "mass" (a re-sacrifice of Christ) that was said in latin (as is the RC history) by an apostle who wore fancy vestments with his back to the people.. They had no infallible pope, no priesthood (that was a Jewish type of Christ eliminated when the fulfillment came). There was no prayers to Mary or saints, no relics, no confessional, no "holy water" etc.." And when exactly did the Pope arrive, to be bowed to and have his ring kissed?

It's hard to imagine people being in the Lord's Presence and being unbelievers. It also happened at Mt. Sinai One would certainly think so...

"There are a bunch of people here who want to hold Catholics responsible for every single problem any human being has ever had with their faith." Wrong. We are all discussing the different religions, some of us using scripture to back up our beliefs.
You seem to be getting mighty defensive...."I just wrote a wonderful reply to you, and then deleted it, because this is a stupid thread"
Apparently not stupid enough for you NOT to comment on.

...a "mass" (a re-sacrifice of Christ)...The Mass is NOT a re-sacrifice of Christ.

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be thou our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, o prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell satan, and all the evil spirits that prowl about the world, seeking the ruin of souls.
And from this Catholic, in spite of your dreadful words about my Church, may you be blessed by Christ with His love, protection, guidance, care, salvation and peace, and all your house as well. And may the Blessed St. Mary, Ever-Virgin, surprise you with a special gift of love.

I think post 48 on this thread is one, but I’d have to go back and check, and I don’t feel like it.

Are we supposed to just not notice this? I wouldn't quote it if I didn't want you to notice. I'd just say something like, "God xxxxxxxxx leading to xxxxxx." Fill in the blank.
The text of the scripture you are quoting that I quoted:
2Ti 2:24-25 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth,
infers that God does not grant repentance. Otherwise this statement would make no sense. So, yes, my statement that God MUST grant repentance is entirely consisted with this scripture.

You are better than that, HarleyD! That comment wasn't a slight; it was a point. I firmly believe that free will can be traced to just about any error. In fact, a year or two ago we started a running conversation on this. Peloski's comment about free will is no more than the same argument you'll get in a liberal Protestant church about homosexuality being OK.
If man is capable of exercising his will to make decisions, what is the purpose of God? Is it just for Him to sit back and help out everytime something goes wrong?
To: HarleyD
The text of the scripture you are quoting that I quoted infers that God does not grant repentance. That's preposterous. It says He "may perhaps grant them repentance" and from that you infer the opposite?
So, yes, my statement that God MUST grant repentance is entirely consisted with this scripture.
Categorically false, and nonsensically at that: He does not therefore He must.

If man is capable of exercising his will to make decisions, what is the purpose of God? To be the Creator of all that is, and the Savior of all creation. Duh!
Anyway, the purpose of God is none of our business. He told us what to do. We either do it or not, as we choose. We are commanded to love Him, and our neighbor. But His purposes are His purposes, and we are only human, how could we possibly understand?.
Oh, and may St. Mary, ever-virgin, bless you.

Post 48.....
would appreciate your insight as to why you think you are a Catholic with a capital C. Because the Blood of Jesus makes me so. IF THE BLOOD OF JESUS is insufficient for use of a CAPITAL C, then NO AMOUNT OF powermongering arrogance by the Vatican magicsterical will ever be sufficient in a trillion years."
