Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." - John 14:6

So, which "evangelicals" would call Jesus a liar?

None of them. But many of them would say that the way one chooses to get to Christ is not necessarily the only way.

And even those that do think that their way is the only way aren't going to behead those that think differently.

More than most groups, Catholics break with their church, and not just on issues like abortion and homosexuality. Only six in ten Catholics described God as "a person with whom people can have a relationship" -- which the church teaches -- while three in ten described God as an "impersonal force."

Interesting

Sound horrific. But I’ll need to read such later in more detail.

Thx.

Pray that God would open our eyes even further. I think the best chance we have of that is to turn our eyes toward Him on the concepts that we do understand, and that are made clear. Our culture needs to turn its heart toward home, and will HE not embrace us, and will he not take us in His arms. Yes Christ is the answer and He says he who loves me observes My commands. We are far from Him. Our culture is rejecting Him more and more daily. The Catholics and Protestants should stand together in love to move the culture toward Christ. We are in desperate need of it.

There’s a lot of churches softening their theological stands... and when they do, the long term result is almost always pews with fewer and fewer parishioners.

Another finding almost defies explanation: 21 percent of self-identified atheists said they believe in God or a universal spirit, with eight percent "absolutely certain" of it.

LOLOL.

Just goes to show people are idiots unless the Holy Spirit grabs hold of them and drags them to the truth of the Triune God.

Gamecock is correct. Without sound doctrine men will always find fables and lies to believe in.

"speak thou the things which become sound doctrine" -- Titus 2:1

"Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm." -- 1 Timothy 1:5-7

Acts 4:12: 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

It looks like there are a lot of people who are in for the shock of all eternity on the day they face the One Who died for them and the only One Who has the authority to give them entrance to Heaven.

Among the more startling numbers in the survey, conducted last year by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life: 57 percent of evangelical church attenders said they believe many religions can lead to eternal life

Jesus said there was one way - Him. I think I'll believe Him over the beliefs of man caused by itching ears.

Those that need to seek converts, that need to persuade others, that find different views threatening and insidiously dangerous, are people of very weak faith. More and more of us should see them for what they are: Tyrants demanding that everyone affirm them and their beliefs, lest they flounder in fearful doubt.

Yes, obviously they've never read John 14:6 or Acts 4:12, just to name two.

This is the product of postmodernism on our society. No exclusive truth. Truth is whatever you make of it.

Utterly disgusting.

Religious Americans: My faith isn’t the only way

WRONG!

It’s all about FAITH!

Read the Book of Hebrews in the NEW Testament.

It is faith/belief that saved them.

You have it correct. Some people use religion as a crutch. When the need it, they use it, and when it gets in the way, they ignore it. I know that I see a lot of folks who say they are Christians, yet live lives worse than sin. They are terrible. Yet, talk the talk, but cannot walk the walk.

How about the idea that "religion" is generally orthogonal to being saved? Maybe many of these Evangelicals treat "religion" differently from the pollsters. To them, Jesus was just another founder of a religion, like Abraham, Mohommed, Joseph Smith, etc.

Whenever I consider what I believe, and what others believe, my first acknowledgment is that I believe what I believe by FAITH. I cannot prove it. I believe that Christ is the only way to God the Father. That is my faith. However, I recognize that because I believe it doesn’t mean others do, as they may have their own faith. I believe I am right, just as they do. If you don’t believe your own faith is the right one, why believe it?

Polls on religious issues are notoriously misleading. One of the constant problems is that people are allowed to self-identify, which results in largely useless data.

One big difference between Protestants and Catholics when it comes to polling is that there are no “ethnic” Baptists, or Presbyterians, or whatever. There are many people who identify themselves as Catholic, out of a sense of ethnic or cultural affinity, but who have not attended a Mass since childhood, and know little about what the Church teaches. Including these people in the “Catholic” category results in skewed poll results.

Anyhow, I think one thing this poll shows is that indifferentism is popular. Doesn’t make it right, though. Truth is not determined by polling.
