They're called the "Lost Boys," the teenagers kicked out of their homes and communities by leaders of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to ensure there's an ample supply of single, young women who will one day become plural wives. Representative Lorie Fowlke (R-Orem), is running a bill to make this abandonment a felony.
"Estimates are that we've had more than 1,000 children - primarily in southern Utah - thrown out of their homes," Fowlke says. "What we were trying to do with this bill is criminalize this behavior and send a message to this community that they can't just throw away their children."
H.B. 23 adds child abandonment to the definition of child abuse, and makes it a felony crime. It also adds an enhancement if a parent or organization benefits from the child's abandonment to further an illegal enterprise, such as polygamy. This is the case with the FLDS church, says Roger Hoole, a lawyer who represents some of the displaced young men and sits on the board for the Utah Association for Justice. He says the church benefits from kicking out young men who would compete for plural wives. This, he says, has devastating consequences.
"There's a huge impact that's coming, like a tsunami, that's going to hit the state of Utah, when these boys get a little older and realize what has happened to them and get angry," Hoole says. "There's a real problem here."
Fowlke's bill gained unanimous support in a Senate committee this morning, and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

I've been in worship services which were not my 'cup of tea' but which did not cause me discomfort because the 'aliveness' of fellow Christians is comforting even in an 'alien' worship service. I'll give you an example: I'm an Episcopalian and 'High Church' is comforting to me, but I've worshipped in Episcopalian Churches where everyone gathered in a circle and broke a loaf of 'blessed bread' Host and passed it around, then the cup. Jesus is not offended so I certainly will not be ... where two or more are gathered in His name, there is He in the midst of them. ... And I have witnessed astonishing miracles where just two were 'gathered in His name' to ask in prayer.
Here's another example: I have a close friend who is a 'higher up' in the Mormon religion; but he was the Christian who led me to Christ before he fell into Mormonism; I do not feel a spiritual deadness when with him, but I have felt that deadness int he presence of other Mormons who did not come to that religion after becoming Chrisitans. In fact ... well, that's enough. Suffice it to say discernment is a spiritual gift He authors, not us or our manipulations of rituals and hand signals or special clothing.
First of all, they are not "so-called"...These questions are specific and direct. Just read them and respond.

And...anyone who goes back and looks at posts# 88, 89, 1033 and 1037 can clearly see that there has not been any lying, or misrepresentation, on my part. (By your saying so, you seem to be actually guilty of what you falsely allege.)
Several times, you have failed to call polygamous marriage to teenage girls child abuse...and several times, you have failed to call polygamous marriage with adult women abusive...and several times, you have failed to state that Jopseph Smith's polygamous marriage to teenage girls constituted child abuse. This in itself demonstrates, quite clearly, your position on the issue of polygamy...You do not see it as abusive (child, or otherwise).
And this is how the vast majority of conversations with Mormons end - a non-response...followed by a false accusation that weakly aids in a psuedo-legitimate exit from the exchange.
This overly-employed tactic seems to be hard evidence that you cannot answer direct questions because you do not have the truth (and The Truth).
Because Joseph Smith's CUT AND PASTE plagiarized version of the Bible contradicts itself. Every answer is yet another contradiction.

Hmmmm...that sounds familiar..."one of many "prophets" they believe have lived to guide humankind in various "dispensations".
I doubt, on the subject of polygamy, that most Mormon’s feel comfortable condemning the practice. How can they when their prophet was a practicing polygammist and adulterer? How can they when they are but one presidential revelation away from that practice even now? How can they when many of their brethren practice polygamy in secret?
How many come directly from polygamous relationships through parents, grands or great grands?
It’s a dilemma they don’t like to talk about with non-Mormons. Trust me, I know. I’ve tried and I get the same reception, although not quite as contrary!

Perhaps they are waiting for that one USSC decision like the one overturning homosexality laws in Texas to open the gates for polygamy to them again?
