If you are a Lutheran, your religion was founded by Martin Luther, an ex-monk of the Catholic Church, in the year 1517.
If you belong to the Church of England, your religion was founded by King Henry VIII in the year 1534 because the Pope would not grant him a divorce with the right to re-marry.
If you are a Presbyterian, your religion was founded by John Knox in Scotland in the year 1560.
If you are a Congregationalist, your religion was originated by Robert Brown in Holland in 1582.
If you are Protestant Episcopalian, your religion was an offshoot of the Church of England, founded by Samuel Senbury in the American colonies in the 17th century.
If you are a Baptist, you owe the tenets of your religion to John Smyth, who launched it in Amsterdam in 1606.
If you are of the Dutch Reformed Church, you recognize Mic helis Jones as founder because he originated your religion in New York in 1628.
If you are a Methodist, your religion was founded by John and Charles Wesley in England in 1774.
If you are a Mormon (Latter Day Saints), Joseph Smith started your religion in Palmyra, New York, in 1829.
If you worship with the Salvation Army, your sect began with William Booth in London in 1865.
If you are Christian Scientist, you look to 1879 as the year in which your religion was born and to Mary Baker Eddy as its founder.
If you belong to one of the religious organizations known as "Church of the Nazarene, Pentecostal Gospel," "Holiness Church," or "Jehovah's Witnesses," your religion is one of the hundreds of new sects founded by men within the past hundred years.
If you are Roman Catholic, your church shared the same rich apostolic and doctrinal heritage as the Orthodox Church for the first thousand years of its history, since during the first millennium they were one and the same Church. Lamentably, in 1054, the Pope of Rome broke away from the other four Apostolic Patriarchates (which include Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch and Jerusalem), by tampering with the Original Creed of the Church, and considering himself to be infallible. Thus your church is 1,000 years old.
If you are Orthodox Christian, your religion was founded in the year 33 by Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It has not changed since that time. Our church is now almost 2,000 years old. And it is for this reason, that Orthodoxy, the Church of the Apostles and the Fathers is considered the true "one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church."
This is the greatest legacy that we can pass on to the young people of the new millennium.
Innocent VIII - at least one marriage, one legitimate and a number of illegitimate children. Only appointed one nephew a Cardinal.
Alexander VI - several mistresses (one only 14 years old). Several illegitimate children by several different women, including married women.
Many of these charges are quite spurious and unsubstantiated in the actual historical record. Others were actions taken before they took up a serious religious life. They have life by endless repetition without thought or investigation - i.e. Alexander VI was a wicked man because Savaonarola and the rest of his enemies since said so.
The Didache is a part of Canon Law.
Kosta:
I was taught that the Didache is considered a part of Canon Law, etc.....
In your opinion. I haven’t seen anything but conjecture.
That does nothing to improve either its relevancy or humorous value.
No, He says he will give them to Peter and further describes them as having the ability to bind and loose in Heaven and on Earth. When this is given, it is given to all of the Apostles as a group.
Let us pray for those who think that the pedigreeb'shem Yah'shua
of their congregation is more important than serving the L-rd!AND TO LOVE HIM WITH ALL THE HEART AND WITH ALL THE UNDERSTANDING AND WITH ALL THE STRENGTH, AND TO LOVE ONE'S NEIGHBOR AS HIMSELF, is much more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."L-rd G-d breathe on those to give them wisdom of the meaning of your Word.Select them to be drawn to your Son for their salvation.
Lead them away from the teachings of man particularly where it conflicts with your Word.
Quiet their hearts so they can hear the Ru'ach HaKodesh speak to them your Word
Innovation? Hardly. You need to re-read that part again. Christ says "I will give you..." [that's future tense] and then He gives it to all two chapters later.
The reference to feeding the sheep has to do with +Peter's tripple betrayal, not about giving the keys.
There are no inspired oral teachings that were not written down in the scriptures...
and the Early Church Fathers,
Your 'early' church fathers more than not disagreed with your church but you guys still cite them...Nothing they wrote was inspired by God...No one even knows if your church fathers penned what you guys claim they penned...
you are steering for the rocks.
I think not...How could I be while believing only the written word as God gave it and the written word teaches otherwise???
1Jo 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
The written word is where the truth is...The written word is where life is...
Your oral tradition tells you that you can't know if you're going to heaven till you're dead...
The written word tells me I have eternal life, now...
The Church is the only true guide for interpretation, not the individual.
Your church tells you that...The written word of God does not tell you that...In fact, the opposite...
Do you suppose God wrote the bible in code??? When you guys quote the verse that says the bible is of no private interpretation, that goes for you, your priests and popes as well...
Didache is accepted by the Latin Church as work of Aopostolic Fathers, but there is no proof whatsoever that it is. The author(s) is(are)are unknown and the location is unspecified.
Kanon (Greek κανων) means standard, not law (the law is νομος or nomos). To the best of my knowledge, the Didache was never normative in the East or the West for that matter. If anything, its order of Eucharistic communion is reversed wine first, then bread.
As you have indicated many times, you have created a church for yourself. It appears to me to be modeled on select verses from Paul, with only minor reference to the Gospels and almost none to the rest of the New Testament and the entire Old Testament.
Very well. As I have said before, I consider it the creation of a cat loosely modeled on a dog with the insistence that it is actually a dog. A cat is not a dog. There are some common points that I have understood that you have posted that resemble that of Christianity. The fur, four legs and a tail are common. The genetic structure isn’t.
Basing an entire theology on select verses from Paul isn’t Christian.
Hey, we encouraged Abraham to take God's advice. ;O)
Amen !
True enough.
and further describes them as having the ability to bind and loose in Heaven and on Earth. When this is given, it is given to all of the Apostles as a group.
Matthew 18:17-18, right? Taking that teaching as a whole, I see a lot of responsibility being given. Making that into a bestowing of authority to use as men will, sorry, just not there.
Read, “Information on Didache”
I'd think Jesus would have used the instruction in John 10 to be more clear about men being given authority, if His intent was to give men total authority in the way men were claiming it centuries later.
The reference to feeding the sheep has to do with +Peter's tripple betrayal, not about giving the keys.
Yet, some of your Catholic brothers have used it in the way I described, where only Peter was specifically charged with the task of feeding the sheep.
No, John 20:22-23.
And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.
Basing an entire theology on verses from the written word of God alone isn't Chritian to a lot of you folks...So what's new???
