Gay Episcopalian Bishop Urges Tolerance

Columbus, Ohio -- The first openly gay Episcopal bishop said Wednesday that the church's top policymaking body should not heed a request from Anglicans worldwide to place a moratorium on electing gay or lesbian bishops.

The Episcopal General Convention, which runs through June 21 in Columbus, must vote on whether to stop electing gay bishops for now so that the embattled Anglican family — deeply divided over homosexuality — can stay together.

Joined by national gay rights activists, New Hampshire Bishop V. Gene Robinson urged the convention to reject the proposed moratorium and any discrimination based on sexual orientation.

"It's not our job to decide what the Anglican Communion will or will not do in response to our actions," he said at a news conference. "What we're called to do is to, as faithfully as we can, discern God's will and act on it in our context."

The head of a national coalition of gay Episcopalians said the church's membership in the communion doesn't mean it should give up its ability to make its own rules.

"If indeed there is some kind of split or schism over these issues I want to insist that the responsibility needs to lay firmly at the feet of those who are threatening to leave, not those of us who are threatening to stay," said the Rev. Susan Russell, president of Integrity.

Robinson made it clear that he believes gay rights are consistent with Episcopal and Christian values.

"Jesus is the 'homosexual agenda' in the Episcopal church, I believe that with my whole heart," Robinson said. "

Hmmmm..... begs a few questions....

What about God's rules for life....?? the Body of Christ...?? and qualifications for Christian ministry...?

Do these even count anymore for our ECUSA friends??

Which rules rule??
God's clear declaration of the whims of man?

Message to "Bishop" Robinson:isn't it ironic, and refreshing,to see Anglicans in far flung places like Asia and Africa providing moral leadership when Anglicans in the US and Europe cannot...or will not?

I am struck by the irony of Gene Robinson's statement coming as it does on the day when this is the Roman Catholic daily Gospel lesson:

Gospel

Mt 5:17-19

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”

When you've already thumbed your nose at the Triune God and His Word, what's thumbing your nose at the worldwide Body of Christ?

This is like watching someone die of cancer. Someone should just put ECUSA out of its misery.

You heard of the new campaign "Take Back the Bible"? Vickie Gene in the presser this morning talked about "Taking back the Bible". ROFLOL!

Last GenCon the delegates couldn't see fit to affirm the Articles of Faith. Now, the Bible is being used as a cudgel. You know, the same Bible that they disregarded when they consecrated Vickie Gene.

Wow, the media really can't get enough of this guy, can they?

FYI, this puff-piece was written by a mediot who seems to have a more than academic interest in gays and Christianity. For what it's worth, his name appears on a list of runners in a charity event called St. John’s Fishes and Loaves 5K in Rochester, NY. A little digging around revealed that this event is sponsored by St. John's Church (Episcopal), Honeoye Falls, NY. The pastor of this church is one Rev. Dahn Gandell (a female) who is a supporter of the homosexual agenda within the Episcopal Church. For example, her name appears on a petition of "clergy" who are supported the WorldPride homo-promo event in Jerusalem (!).

Further digging revealed that this year's recipient of the funds raised by the race will be the Bishop Sheen Ecumenical Housing Foundation. While this sounds fairly laudatory, it should be remembered that this institution is in the Catholic diocese of Rochester which is run by one of the most notorious pro-homosexual bishops, Matthew Clark. And for what it's worth, even thought Bishop Sheen's name is used to promote this entity, try doing a Google search for the word Jesus on their website.

Tells you about all you need to know.

"Jesus is the 'homosexual agenda' in the Episcopal church"

The words of Jesus:

"Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

"It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.

"It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed."

Luke 17:26-30

Of course not. They will decide what to do based upon your actions. Do I smell DoubleSpeak?

Interesting that this lesbian thinks that if the overwhelming majority of the Anglican Communion worldwide breaks with ECUSA, it is they, not tiny, apostate, dying ECUSA, which has left the Anglican Communion.

I'll bet there's a scientific name for this way of thinking and I'll further bet that its a psychological hallmark of aggressive homosexuals.

Can't believe some of the gay activists. They insist on celebrating diversity no matter the cost. IN this case, this denomination may split over homosexuality and dealing with that. is it worth it?
