(Episcopal) Diocese recommends priests be allowed to perform civil unions

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Members of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut passed a resolution Saturday urging Bishop Andrew Smith to allow priests in Connecticut to preside at civil union ceremonies.

The resolution passed overwhelmingly at the diocese annual meeting, church officials said.

A law allowing same-sex civil unions in Connecticut took effect Oct. 1. But Smith reminded clergy in a recent memo that they are not authorized to officiate at blessings of same-sex unions. He said that won't change at least until the House of Bishops meets in 2006.

The resolution, while not binding, gives the diocese, "a sense of this convention at this time," Smith said. There will be other occasions to discuss whether priests should preside over civil unions or not, he said.

The sense I get is that they are fully in favor of sin.

The ECUSA is a dinosaur on the verge of extinction. Abortion, HIV and a zero birth rate for gay couples mean no replacement Episcopalians as the old guard dies off. What good are large monetary endowments and fine old churches when there are no people in the pews?

"What good are large monetary endowments and fine old churches when there are no people in the pews?"

The perverted ones could care less if no one but the Rainbow group used the deserted churches for gay sex bath tub orgies. They will use the endowment funds to remove the pews and put hot tubs in in place of the pews.

Thousands of little old ladies are probably spinning in their graves, having left their money to something they were sure would use it well. As you say, the gays who are inheriting the Episcopal Church are certainly going to use it, but hardly the way its donors intended.

What is amazing to me is how many moderates and so called conservative E's fail to realize what the ultimate goal of the perverted maggots in our Church.

That is to destroy any linkage with the Bible, God and Jesus and to establish a social club for the maggots and their liberal friends. Their social club will be one, where anything goes except patriotism and a belief in the bible, God and Jesus.

You forgot embracing child molesters. According to this article, a local Episcopal church want to turn an old building, by the church into a halfway house for child sex offenders. I am torn on this issue, because on one hand Christians are supposed to forgive and serve others, but on the other hand I would be concerned with the safety of my child.

Concur! The African church has already split from us, and who can blame it after being preached for centuries to that polygamy and cohabitation was sinful! Thanks to the weak kneed appeasers (especially Bishops Lee and Jones of the Diocese of VA) at the last General Convention of ECUSA, the "Wrong" Rev. Vickey G. Robinson now heads the Diocese of N.H. What's next--a new service in the BCP endorsing marriage between man and beast?

That way when the gay priests, deacons and bishops are arrested for sex offenses, they can have a halfway house to welcome their brothers and sisters.

Unfortunately, they will sell the big old churches (especially the ones in metro areas where real estate prices are through the roof) and use that $$$ and the big endowments to fund the gay agenda . .. especially recruitment.

Actually, they will probably keep the old churches and turn them into Gay Live Theaters and Hot Tub spots. Then they can make money from visiting gays and liberals, who will pay to see a former church turned into a Gay fun house. Of course that will be used as recruitment choices.
