SILVER SPRING, Md. - A religious survey of the incoming U.S. Congress shows an all-time high of 67 Roman Catholic Republicans, including six of the nine new Catholics in the House. There are 86 Catholics from the Democratic Party, Catholics' longtime political home.
The biennial survey is conducted by Albert Menendez of Americans for Religious Liberty and posted on its Web site.
Catholics reached their highest total ever - 153 - and remained the largest denominational group, followed by Baptists (72), Methodists (61), Presbyterians (50), Episcopalians (41), and Jews (37). Six members listed no religious affiliation.
Most totals changed little from 2002. The largest declines were of three seats for Lutherans and Episcopalians.

Catholic Ping - please freepmail me if you want on/off this list
I just left a district represented by a Catholic Republican (Vito Fossella) for one represented by a CINO Democrat (Baghdad Jim McDermott).
Most of them are CINOs.
You poor thing! Isn't Baghdad Jim about to retire or get indicted or something like that?
This may be wishful thinking, but I thought his time was running out.
Coleus, isn't Congressman Christopher Smith from Ocean County one of the more devout Catholics in DC?
Nah, Baghdad Jim just got reelected with 81% of the vote against the perennial sacrificial lamb Caryl Cassady. He may retire due to his "legal troubles" but nothing will probably happend until 2006. He will probably be replaced by King County Executive Ron Sims, who is a lefty though not as obnoxious as Baghdad Jim.
I disagree, Ron Sims is every bit as obnoxious.
Speaking of replacements for Baghdad Jim, is Paul Schell doing anything these days? His administration was a riot.
I think after the gangsta man rung his bell with a megaphone he's decided he isn't doing the politics thing.
It would be nice to have the complete list. I wonder how many listed "atheist" or "Marxist." I know a few who should have.

Yes, he's a pro-life champion. A bit liberal on some environmental and immigration issues but a true champion on the issues of life.

The Salazar brothers from Colorado are flaming CINOs.
