The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

If all the bars that ever served drunks were closed it'd be even more like Utah around here.

You mean you'd be able to take a nubile 14 year old to wife?

What's considered drunk?

How could that possibly be enforced unless they said no one over a particular blood alcohol level could be served any more?

Sure is nice to see the government getting smaller by the day.

I guess they use they're best judgement. If somebody has an accident on the way home the owner may be liable somehow.

Don't let mom see that you asked me a question unrelated to salvation. You wouldn't want to be caught fellowshipping with darkness. :-)

My parents own a bar. They're really cautious about serving drunks. State has really clamped down on that sort of thing.

Oh, I know owning a bar is a nightmare nowadays. But given the law like it is now, after 2 drinks you'd have to shut off most people to comply with the DUI laws.

In any event, it's a pretty vacuous charge for a 24 year incumbent Senator to throw around.

Likewise, I'm sure your parents don't condone drugs, but I'll bet on at least one occasion someone met someone there and exchanged stuff in the parking lot.

That's not the moon, it's a bug zapper. Fly away from it Kevin. Fly away from it.

Its is a bogus story Specter just called Rush and said he did not know nor had any filiation with them!

But Specter's not trustworthy. He's either lying or has plausible deniability. I'd take NR's word over Specter's.

There was a report I read years ago where after reading Specter involment and position I wondered where he fit in the JFK assassination it was glaring he had a role good or bad!

I'm not sure how influential Specter was on the JFK commission. It was a bit before my time and I haven't really studied it.

He was a young lawyer than and doing work for DC and had the ability to have access on both sides!

When reading this report in the 80's it was like having a clearer view of the previous evnets in the 60's and at that time struck me how he could have been an enabler for the act or a cover up!

I wish I keep the article but I still have an lingering memory!

…not sure how it addresses the point.

It addresses the point by demonstrating that the tautological nature of the verse does not make it trivial and trite. The tautology emphasizes God’s preservation of the saints, a source of great comfort.

…if someone ceases to be a saint, they will surely perish

True. And if a cat ceases to be a cat, it will no longer be a cat. Cats, however, don’t worry that they’ll be dogs some day. Saints on the other hand, do sometimes worry about their status as saints. But God in this verse councils the saints to be patient, he will preserve them, saints will always be saints, they will not perish. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise.

JJ has been told that he doesn't shoot anything that isn't going to hurt him or that he isn't going to eat. A woman at the dollar store giving him a hard x. She wanted to know why he wanted an ole gun. JJ told her he was going to shoot birds. She gasped and said "why would you want to shoot good little birds. (understand that this is just a toy gun to begin with) He told her "it's ok caz I'm gonna eat it after I shoot it". I thought she was going to have a coronary. The look on her face was priceless. The next day he was romping with his little friend and told this other child "don't shoot at my little brother. He want hurt us and we can't eat him" :')
