The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

It pisses me off that I can't get you to see the truth of the matter, and I can't reach thru the computer screen and slap you around. :)

I guess call my cynical. I try to get to the truth on these matter. There's just something about a bunch of bishops with pointy hats sitting around coming up with this stuff 300 years after the fact.

...she would love to tell you what she really thinks.

LOL. I, as yet, don't have your courage, Mack. But that's why I ping you, because you are steadfast.

I didn't realize that we are only supposed to "ping the Mods" if we want a "thread pulled." I pinged the Mods because of the previous night's conversation and I thought they'd be interested. We all have coversations with FReepers that not everyone is bothering to read. I don't know what's been followed and what hasn't.

Mack is correct is saying I don't believe any thread nor post should be pulled except for cursing or racism.

We're all grown-ups and serious subjects should be able to take a serious hit now and then, and give back as good as they get.

If not here, where?

Did you see #3,303?

Yes.

What do you guys have to say?

What I have to say is that God spoke with Moses and wrote the testimony on two tablets of stone. God spoke and God wrote. What you have is a collaboration of men with pointy hats. That being said I agree that Jews were not immune to pagan influence. But the results are different. Despite certain pagan influences that Jews brought back from Assyria & points beyond after the destruction of the 1st temple ultimately they have not divided the unity of God. They have stuck to the Shema "Hear O' Israel the Lord is our God, The Lord is One." (Shema Israel Adonai Elohenu, Adonai Echad) Not so Christians. They have incorporated goddess worship replacing Diana of the Ephesians with Mary, and Greek Mythology man-god worship with Jesus and a Trinity.

Do Jews wait for a Messiah?

Let me edit this line:

What you have is a collaboration of men with pointy hats quoting and misquoting Jews. :-)

The sacrifice has been accepted

Oh? So "it is finished" today???? :-)

A blessed Easter to you and yours.

Apparently when you don't have an answer to a simple question, you throw the question back. I guess I've been spoiled. I'm used to more dialogue than this on other FR religion threads.

You just complained about the Christian "myth" of Jesus Christ and His resurrection. "Men in pointy hats," etc.

I'm asking you if Jews wait for a Messiah to fulfill the Scriptures of Moses, the expectations of the Israelites, the promises of the Law?

Do Jews wait for what Christians have found?

Please tell me you aren't fixing to reject Jesus too :'( Which one of the 3 guys are you having problems with?

As long as you say "three" we have no problem. If you say "three in one" we have a problem unless you are speaking about oil. ;-)

I believe there is one God the Father. I believe Jesus is His Son. Two distinct entities.

I don't reject Jesus though I reject the notion that He is God.

God has always known the End from the Beginning. It was "finished" before we knew it had begun.

Christ's sacrifice was ordained from before the beginning of time. All creation leads up to the empty Cross; all history flows from the empty Cross.

That's why it's no small thing to be shown this fact, and dismiss it.

You don't know whether or not Jews await a Messiah? If I really believed you were that ignorant I'd answer the question.

What keeps pulling you back to this thread?

Pings to me from fellow FReepers. That's usually how this place works.

And you?

And while you've pinged me just now for an answer, and I've given it to you, I'd like to take the opportunity to say I've never defamed you or ridiculed you or referred to you behind your back or hit the abuse button on you or pinged the Mods for your dismissal or helped to get other posters banned or questioned your Christian motives or made fun of your sex or tried to shove you off a thread.

And I am NOT saying you have done any of these things either.

I explained at the outset I was new to the NES and only knew this thread by reputation.

Maybe I should have left it at that.

What exactly do you believe He is (and why do you bother capitalizing "He" if He is not God)?

Some leave Judaism and become Christians and that is fine with you.

Some leave Catholicism and become Protestant and that is fine with you.

Some leave Protestantism and become Catholic and you may fuss a little but you accept it.

It become "deconstruction" only when one denies the Trinity or, worse yet, denies today's "traditional" Christianity.

And not one of us, not one, practices the brand of "Christianity" of Jesus and the Apostles. It has been "deconstructed", "improved", and made into a form unrecognizeable to the early Church. And that is fine with me.

Christ's sacrifice was ordained from before the beginning of time. All creation leads up to the empty Cross; all history flows from the empty Cross.

There's the first item of substance I've noticed you get right. :-)

Yes, when people debate "the Jews killed Him" "no the Romans killed Him" some Christian will point out "no, our sins killed Him" and it will eventually hit home to all "I killed Him".

While all of those things are true - and the later are necessary realizations to come to - there can be no doubt that God did it. And knew that He would do it from the beginning of time.

All of which, of course, is irrelevant to this particular discussion since the debate is over what "it" is and how it could be "finished" at calvary if the sacrifice was accepted today. Your post would serve to defeat mom's point.
