The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

Matt.18 1 AT the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? 2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, 3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

And??? Does this say that children are not accountable? Or does it say that we have a command to teach the gospel to children and to bring them to Christ and not restrain them because of their young age?

I would point out that children do not choose to be born, they do not get to choose their family . They are totally dependent on the father and mother for all their life and needs..THAT is how we to come to Christ , helpless on our own , needing to depend on God for life.

"No one comes to me unless the Father draws him (john 6)

God owes us nothing and we all need to on our knees in gratitude. It's just a free will thing. Did he want mind control or for His children to love Him and come to him wiilingly. It takes a very strong and secure person to let go knowing that he will have loses and that people will make mistakes with growth. It would have been much easier with predetermination but I don't see this in scripture before salvation. Afterwards I'm right there in agreement with you.

The catholic claim age 7. In truth there is no set age in scripture and nothing specific, but scripture is loaded on how He loves the children. We baptist just go by how evil the little darlings are (just kidding-kind of :')

I hear what you are saying and I understand that many were killed but that wasn't my question. Did these children go to hell upon their death?.

That is not the question Cindy, the question is were they judged guilty of sin by God. The answer is yes , God judged them as having thoughts that were continually evil so they were destroyed .

Their eternity like ours is 100% in the hands of God.If any went to heaven , it was not because they were innocent (they were already judged guilty) , or under the age of reason .It was because they were saved by the mercy of God (not getting what they deserved) just like us.

Only those who can comprhend be accountable!

Listen to the words of Christ, your Redeemer, your Lord and your God. Behold, I came into the world not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance;

the whole need no physician, but they that are sick;

wherefore, little children are whole, for they are not capable of committing sin;

wherefore the curse of Adam is taken from them in me, that it hath no power over them; and the law of circumcision is done away in me.

God gave Noah specific dimensions and instructions on building the ark. Presumably enough to hold all the animals, Noah's family and probably some food. If it was up to men to choose how would God know how big to build the ark? God gave a way for Noah and his family to be saved only.

Well, of course God foreknew that only Noah and his family would board the ark.

But while you're online, I have a question.

OK ... switch to the New Testament.

In Calvinist thought ... what is going on between Jesus and Satan in regard to the temptations ?

Rest , the bible says nothing like that
Christians do not believe the sin in Eden was " falling up". Just as we are all born with the curse of death and the pains of childbirth and having to work land that yields thistles..we are also born with the same nature that Adam had after he sinned..we are now in the image of Adam .

We look just like Adam to God from the moment of our conception . It is not until we put on Christ that we are seen as the sons of God .

What about Jesus saying He is our friend though? I though maybe pal was equivalent more like a compadre or something to yall. That's why I asked.

I wouldn't exactly call Jesus a 'pal', ... but He is quite a friend.
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Yeah I saw that. Jesus says I can be his friend. I reported this and was accused of being uppity and wanting to be equal with God. That's why I asked about pal. Pal is more of a hanging out with word for me but I was told it was the same as friend. Where have you been? Yall left me all alone here:'(

Yeah, that really was my question way back when. Do they go to hell or heaven?

Did you read my reply to that question " way back":>)

1) None of us really know do we because scripture is silent on this right ?

2) We must there for assume that infants and children and the retarded are held to the same standard as adults

So what then can we know about the spiritual end of infants? We have to know that they , like us, are saved by Gods mercy and not their worth.

The minute you say they are free from sin and there for worthy to enter heaven 2 things happen

1) You have a salvation based on human works and not Gods grace or mercy

2) The birth of Jesus with out sin becomes meaningless . He was no more Holy at his birth then than we are.

Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is no exception stated for age or intelligence

The bible asks "will not the judge of the world do right?"

Can we just let God be God and trust that no matter the answer He is doing what is just and right?

BTW Most Calvinists believe that God saves infants because of His mercy

In truth there is no set age in scripture and nothing specific,

I myself could not make a blanket statement for like in Judaism they only use the OT, and the mainstream only use the OT & NT.

the LDS uses the OT, NT and the BOM plus.

So many quesstion you have for the LDS to them many have been clarify.

For me I am thankful to have peace of mind to the understanding of many questions.

It takes a very strong and secure person to let go and...

Cindy, I say this in Christian charity, perhaps you should return to Scripture and read with the idea in mind that God is not a strong and secure person.

God is creator of heaven and hell, time and space, men, angels, animals and satan, and all are subject to His will.

If you go around thinking God is like a strong and secure person, that's the god you'll follow.
