Here are the some of the results of a 1999 Gallup poll on creationism, evolution, and public education :
49% believe that human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life.
Evolution theory is the most important weapon to twist people's minds.
For 99% of the people the most important REAL reason for believing in it : a trick that costed a few bucks, 100 years ago.
Even more incredible : the trick has remained the same until now.
Only lately, with very fast computers that allow virtual reality software to perform convincing enough, have we seen some effects added to the base trick.
I wonder who is the first Freeper to find out the trick behind the most devastating lie in the history of mankind.

You MUST remove the diety to enslave a people. That's not even remotely true.

Granted that sounds rather dramatic. I've seen and heard worse.

Communism is based on the theory of evolution, just like nazis. Well no. Communism as a way of economics was around for a long time before Darwin was a twinkle in his daddy's eye. Lots of places ran their economic system this way. Communism is just tribalism on steroids.
And as for the Nazis those types of beliefs were around a long time before Darwin as well.

Despite the fact that I'm agnostic, I'm pretty happy all the "wacko Christian fringe" are on my side. The Leftists would've won 70 years ago if not for them. So I'd suggest showing them some respect, rather than telling them to get out of "your" party.
Atheists pound on their unproven Darwin just as hard as Baptists pound on their unproven Bible. I think the evolution-worshippers are no less intolerant zealots than the most fire-breathing Calvinists - in fact, they're usually worse and FAR more condescending than their Christian counterparts.
And atheists are capable of INFINITELY more evil in their pursuit of indoctrinating everyone into believing only what they believe than anything Christianity has ever produced. Hell, atheists make Muslims look like gentle lambs.
Just replying to you so everyone can see it. No offense.

I put that poorly.
The diety MUST be removed so a people will self-enslave to a new order.
That's my final draft and I'm sticking with it.

Dunno. Most of the creationists who could actually post a grammatically-correct sentence have offed themselves in the last few days. It'd just feel like we're going up against a Single-A team instead of the pros...

Meant to ping you on 84 and 85. Your edited version still doesn't work for me.

"That's hardly all of it. "
Rule #1 of analytic tought : seperate issues.
This thread is about why people believe in Evolution Theory. I admit that implicitly in the title I also mix that issue with two other :
- why is evolution a lie ?
- for people convinced it's a lie : why is evolution the most devastating of all lies ?
To stick for the moment to the core issue of this thread :
No, I don't agree with you. I think that among believers in evolution less than 0,00001% believe in it based on the analysis of the parts of skulls, sculptures or whatever those things are that you have on that photo.

Ahh so you show your true stripes as a luddite. The wacko christian fringe are those Christians and obviously agnostic idiots who deny hundreds of years of scientific development. The leftists would be put away forever if not for that anti-science fringe. Those certain christians and their closed minded bigotry and idiocy keep rational academics away from the Republican party and straight into the arms of the Liberals.
Evolutionists should be condescending they have facts on their side not fuzzy headed mythology.
Religion of all stripes are responsible for more death and destruction than any atheist ever conceived of.

You got it. Wether divine right or mandate, a man assumes power imitating a "god".
This is governance of men pretending to be something more. Same as it everwas.

*nod* I'll agree with what you're getting there easily enough. 99.9% of those who believe in evolution don't believe it because they've actually checked out the theory or have the slightest idea how genetic mutations can possibly cross pollinate across species.
They believe they know the answer to the most fundamental questions of all existence because they were completely indoctrinated in that belief in school. Anyone who didn't believe it was on the "wacko fringe". You didn't actually need to know anything about it to believe it - you just needed to know that you were an idiot if you didn't.
And 99.9% of the evolution crowd accepts that on what is absolutely indistinguishable from what Christians call Faith.
Me? I've read up on it. While it makes some compelling arguments, there are also some glaring holes. I remain unconvinced. That's why I'm agnostic, and not an atheist.

I think that among believers in evolution less than 0,00001% believe in it based on the analysis of the parts of skulls, sculptures or whatever those things are that you have on that photo. Back in Darwin's day, the known fossil record was so poor that he was reduced to predicting that a lot more transitional fossils were bound to show up, and that they would further outline what already looked to him like a diverging family tree of common ancestry. He proved to be right in spades.
The fossil record is one of about 29 such lines of evidence. If it isn't why most people believe in evolution--I have no idea where you're going there--it should be.

"Religion of all stripes are responsible for more death and destruction than any atheist ever conceived of."
Funny. I could've sworn the 140 million or so that were killed during the 20th century were killed by atheists. In fact, I don't believe that the concepts of "concentration camp" and "gulag" even existed until atheists came on the scene.
You're the perfect example of the Darwin-pounding, fire breathing atheist zealot I was referring to earlier. You make Jerry Falwell look absolutely tolerant of dissent. The funniest thing is you can read your own posts and not even see how absolutely dogmatic your belief is.
I was taught in school that Neanderthals were a direct ancestor of man. I was taught that that was an implacable FACT and anyone who didn't believe -that- was on the lunatic fringe. Comically, that was completely proven wrong down the line - but no apology was forthcoming. Dogma can be embarassing that way.
