Really?
You don't watch this show much do you... they were talking about politics a long time before Rush joined the team. And crime, and social issues. You can't talk about football and avoid them these days.
Rush was defending the eagles defence. Read the quote. He felt that McNabb was getting all the credit for the teams success when a good share of it belongs to the defensive team.
There are a lot of blacks on that defensive team, yet they don't get promoted by the media. No who gets talked about every week, the very white Urlacher from the bears.
He was defending black players here.

McNauseous sucks, he's overrated, if he hadn't come into the league with a team that emphasized defense, o-line play and special teams, he would have never won more than 6 games a year QBing anyone. He got the contract and continues to get the breaks because he has DARK SKIN in Philly! Period!! Stuff that in your PC pipe and take a hit.

Congrats to the sports writers who resented Rush treading on their turf. And congrats to McNabb for diverting focus on his poor performance with his Big Whine--poor little black boy beset upon by the big racist Rush.
To: technomage
We, especially our "leaders" must understand the way things are and figure ways around that to get to our goals. Legitimate, legal ways. What did Rush do that was illegal? "Understanding how things are" sounds like defeat. We are supposed to play by their rules?

This is a Right-wing diversion to take the heat off Bush for Leakgate.
It was all part of a plot to distract the media from Leakgate...Rush is being the 'good Republican' and taking the heat of the Bush Administration.
< /sarcasm>
I bet some media wanker, or DemonRat suggests that the above is really true before it's all said & done...

OK...I'll defer to you...because I really have never watched it. Plus, my husband just told me he watched it last week and said he agreed with everything Rush said and it was no big deal.

No need to panic. Remember those "16 words"? The latest Demorat smear campaign will disappear just as quickly.

Rush didn't say anything about race with regard to this particular player's ability. He merely pointed out that the sports media sometimes have race in mind above other things.
He's right about that, and his resignation points that out in spectacular fashion.

Unfortunately, I already saw a Freeper say that very thing tonight on this very forum.

Good for him. He always does things with such class. Just shows he meant it when he said he didn't need this "mess."
To: Ramius
I agree, and think it goes beyond that.
Rush was really standing up for the eagles defence. Clearly from the quote He felt McNabb was getting the credit for the teams success when a good portion of that belongs to the eagles defense.
There are a lot of black players on that defense, and yet what defensive player is talked about week after week, and gets the contracts, and the bumps, and the endorsements.
The very white Urlacher from the bears.
Rush was sticking up for a lot of black guys on this one.

My question is, will those 10% of new ESPN viewers stick around now that Rush is gone?ESPN... hell, I'm just about done with the entire NFL. And I'm a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan.
If they're gonna make me choose, I'm choosing Rush.
F 'em.

Rush had no choice. ESPN was going to fire him if he didn't resign. There is no way that network or the NFL was going tolerate the negative publicity generated by liberal press and Democrats over this.
To: Calpernia
I listen to WLS in Chicago, which ABC (Disney) owns. The radio station has pretty conservative talk show hosts, including Rush, which means it has conservative listeners. For the past couple of weeks we've had to listen to this stupid commercial every half hour for a show called, "It's All Relative". This is what's heard on the promo. A gay guy says, " Irish Catholic, Republican, Baboon." That's acceptable on ABC. Somehow I don't think African, Baptist, Democrat, Baboon, would have made it past the censors. And I don't think it should have. Just don't have double standards. I'm so tired of the liberals being the only ones with the right to free speech.

No, actually, Rush is doing the right thing, this way he does not have to even THINK about apologizing (FOR WHAT???) and his comments STAND...we will see if he turns out to be right..McNabb IS overrated, and will prove it. Every time the Eagles get to the playoffs, McNabb CHOKES!
To: Ol' Sparky
If they were going to fire him, then why didn't he just let them fire him, instead of trying to clear ESPN's name?
