Nah, the fix is in. Tom trained his guns squarely on Bustamante tonight.

Agreed. Bustamove withered and looked/sounded inept as Tom blasted him. Arnold passed muster, even against the Dimo-plant attack-dog Air-head-Aiana, while Camejo sat in the corner and drooled in between psychotic leftist rants.

In the end, Tom backs Arnold and Busto faulters. And Governor Dufus, well, what did Captain Kirk ask of his scientist son in 'The Wrath of Kahn' as the Enterprise tried to get away from the soon-to-explode Reliant: "We're not going to make it, are we?". The son: "No way.".

What a great thread folks. Thanks to the McClintock and Schwarzenegger supporters for your good comments and keeping the tone so positive. Great job.

I'm going to eat dinner now, but just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the comments. Later.

I guess Comejo the Green was talking about Arianna when he kept insisting that the rich don't pay enough taxes.

Think she knew??? :^)

Oh, and...

I didn't have time to read 2100 posts. ;-) What's the general consensus here?

I thought McClintock had the best answers. But man, I wish he wasn't so lacking in the charisma department. :-(

I'd like to see McC pull out for the good of the party

A resonable statement.

But to many in California, McClintock should stay the course for the good of the California party.

McClintock will probably soon fail in one his goals but for the time being he is thwarting the Bush family in their attempt to control the California party.

I don't think you get it... they will only do that if they are absolutely sure -- based on the raw data -- that McClintock absolutely can't win.

If that is the case, then they will "readjust" the statistics so BOOBS READING THE PUSH-POLL will say, "HEY... LET'S GET BEHIND MCCLINTOCK."

Then the libs have a good laugh at how STUPID conservatives are when Cruz walks away with it.

Well thanks, I am dimly recalling you might have had reservations.

I'm pretty sure it took a lot of guts for Tom to stand practically against the weight of the entire national party apparatus to perservere and appear onstage tonight. Perhaps now (?) they might concede that Tom offers Arnold and the party insurance and solid support if not leadership on policy issues.

I am still hopeful that a coalescing of support for one candidate (or the other ;-) will occur before election day. They'll have to make the call and I guess we get to watch (and comment ;-) as events continue to unfold...

Watching this whole debate was like watching the assembly line at a retread factory: cliché after cliché, in questions and in responses. The responses were from politicians or would be politicians, so they could be excused, I suppose, but the questions themselves and the citizen questioneers? My goodness, what a collection of maroons! Did they even understand what they were asking or were they just parroting some lines they had heard on the evening news while sitting on their couches working on becoming obese?

I felt sorry for Arnold who, I'm sure, is smarter than the memorized responses he was forced to recite. McClintock was honest enough, like a man who knows he can't possibly win, the Greenie was certifiably looney. I'm waiting for someone, an honest politician, to finally say "FCUK the children" in response to these cynical gotcha questions that cannot be honestly answered. He'll get my vote whatever his other positions!

Not one question asking how you're going to get the government to leave us alone, or even how you're going to get the government to help us lift ourselves by bootstraps, only how you're going to get the government to take care of me. (Naturally, the question was always tastefully disguised to sound like concerns for others not just ME!)

)According to my well informed informer in cross the sea, 'FCUK' is supposed to mean 'Football CLub United Kingdom"!)/small>

Good point.

After the debate, I heard the protests outside in the background on the news programs. Anyone know if any of our people were out there? I saw a mention the other day of some Freepers going there but nothing more on it.

Simon did not win, because you did not turn out and vote for him.
I was born in the dark, but is was not last night.
The California recall is not a re-do of the Governors election. It is a vote of no-confidence for the Governor the minority of the people of California could not stir to vote for in the last election.
I live in Florida.
I have no dog in this fight.
I do thank some of the people of California for trying to regain a measure of sanity amongst themselves.
But it is very offensive to the rest of the USA for so-called Republicans in Cali to say they are conservative, and learned about politics, and that the best they can do is elect an officially recognised RINO, no, not even a true RINO,just a celebrity who claims to be a pseudo RINO, as your governor.
Secede from the union!
We, the rest of the USA, will not stand in your way!
