An Army Islamic chaplain, who counseled al Qaeda prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, naval base, has been charged with espionage, aiding the enemy and spying, The Washington Times has learned.

Capt. James J. Yee, a 1990 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., was arrested earlier this month by the FBI in Jacksonville, Fla., as he arrived on a military charter flight from Guantanamo, according to a law-enforcement source.

With all "due" respect, if Islam is a Religion of Peace, WHY is it that in every major shooting conflict on the planet @ this time, there are Muslims involved?

Actually, only 20 of 22 armed conflicts around the World today involve unprovoked attacks by Muslims against non-Muslims. So Muslims are not responsible for all of the armed conflicts. Just 90% of them. But your point is well taken -- Radical Islam is a scourge on the planet that must be exterminated.

After they extract all the info they can get out of him, I'd hang him. He'd probably be better off anyway. No way would I want to spend the rest of my days in a military prison.

This seems to be a real possibility. Spying during wartime (Art. 106, UCMJ) carries a mandatory death sentence. Espionage (Art. 106a) allows for a death sentence under certain conditions. Naturally, this SOB has been charged with the lesser offense of espionage even though he was actually spying.

I can only hope that our intelligence services were watching this spy all along, to see who he was communicating with. We could actually have won a great victory here, if this spy has unwittingly been leading us to Al Qaeda contacts around the world, as he attempted to serve as a courier.

Radical Islam is an insane murder cult, "moderate" Islam is its Trojan Horse in the West.

And how would you determine who is Muslim and who not?

In general, the same way we did communists or still do Mafia members.

Could you elaborate? Or are you saying you'd stand almost 300 million people in a line and ask them all if they were a Muslim or not? And what if the Muslim simply says "no"?

You are playing games.

We identify and prosecute Mafia members under RICO without lining up people and asking them if they are members.

Once Islam is no longer a religion under the constitution, but a criminal enterprise, we can use standard investigaticve techniques to locate and prosecute them.

There is no such thing as an Army Captain at Ft Washington who is a "command chaplain."

He probably was a battalion chaplain and there was a possibility he was a brigade chaplain, but a "command chaplain" is normally a bird colonel or lieutenant colonel.

This is a black eye for the chaplaincy. It documents for me the incredible mistake of our chaplaincy providing organizing opportunities for islam within our own military through the religious programs. We must remember that fundamental islam believes there should be no distinction between religious and governmental structures.

Again, we see the connection between militant Islamic and the Seattle/Portland area. This is getting to be a habit.

I'm not playing games. I'm asking a serious question. How would you prove someone's Muslim"ness"? What if I claimed to be a Muslim, for example, but in truth I was not? What would you do to people who claimed that they were no longer Muslims, that they had lost the faith or had converted to Christianity?

What you're calling for is a type of inquisition. Who would be the grand inquisitor? How much power would you give him? What would you do to Christians, Hindus and others who aided Muslims? Would you outlaw the Koran? These are serious questions that I would like answers to. Take some time and think about it. I'm stepping out for a couple hours to watch a movie- take all the time you need to say how this would work. If you can't get into specifics, you're just ranting mindlessly and to no positive effect.

What would you do to Americans like me who refused to cooperate with the Inquisitor?

The Army has charged Capt. Yee with five offenses: sedition, aiding the enemy, spying, espionage and failure to obey a general order. The Army may also charge him later with the more serious charge of treason, which under the Uniform Code of Military Justice could be punished by a maximum sentence of life....

Capt. Yee, of Chinese-American descent, was raised in New Jersey as a Christian. He studied Islam at West Point and converted to Islam and left the Army in the mid-1990s. He moved to Syria, where he underwent further religious training in traditional Islamic beliefs. He returned to the United States and re-entered the Army as an Islamic chaplain.
It amazes me that after leaving the military and traveling to Syria of all places that he was allowed back into the military. IMHO it is very possible that he went to Syria to be further instructed in his sedition and treason and then came back to infiltrate.

If found guilty, he should be executed.

INTREP -

This man has brought shame upon West Point, our Army, my fellow chaplains, and our country. Once again, "tolerance in the name of pluralism" has raised its ugly head.

THIS is a very good thing, and something I've been expecting. If the Armed Services are not already keeping a leery eye on Muslim members, this will do it. I intend to send this report to everyone I know.

There may be much happening in the background that we aren’t aware of; at least I hope that’s the case. At any rate, the Muslim chaplains appear to have been under investigation way before this arrest.

Here's an interesting tidbit from the statement by the Al-Arian supporters, the Tampa Bay Coalition for Justice and Peace, on March 28, 2002:

...on March 20th, federal authorities raided over 16 Muslim institutions and homes of prominent Muslim leaders. The name of Dr. Al-Arian appeared on the search warrants of these raids. The reasons for Dr. Al-Arian’s name or the raids have absolutely nothing to do with the September 11th attacks or with security. Dr. Al-Arian had never even heard of 11 of these organizations. On the other hand, one of these organizations, namely the Fiqh Council of North America, is the highest Muslim religious authority in the US. It’s concerned only with religious opinions, which are considered very moderate. The Graduate School of Islamic and Social Studies (GSISS) which was also raided, is the official certified school for endorsing Muslim chaplains by the Defense department. Of the 13 Muslim chaplains in the different military branches, 9 were graduates of this school.

Note also that on the same website, academicfreespeech.com, there’s a letter of support for Al Arian from none other than Vincent Cannistraro, former CIA chief of Counter Terrorism. Cannistraro is frequently quoted in the NYT and other birdcage liners. Is it any wonder why we are in this mess?

I suspect Syria is the government he was feeding all this info back to...

This cannot be!
It's profiling, muslims cannot be the enemy!
But.. but.. everyone says that the enemy is extremists and that not all muslims are extremists.
This cannot be!
/ joke.

Honestly, I have known a few (under five) muslims that loved THIS country and said they were Americans first and foremost.
I'd suspect that people like that in the muslim world are a rather tiny micro-minority of the whole group.
People like Yee and Al Qeada are far more of a majority than anyone thinks.

In another account, the Voice of America News Service paraphrased Capt. Yee as saying Islam is a religion of peace and the concept of "jihad," or holy war, simply means "to struggle."

The great LIE of the great Satan - Islam!

Hopefuly, this "sting" has been going down a long time and they took him into custody after they felt they exhausted all the people he could lead us to...hopefully.
