I'm sure that the City has to furnish financial information to any interested citizen.
Right now, I think we are still deciding what steps are going to be taken. ie: lawsuit, demanding a public apology and dismissal of the Chairwoman of the HRC.
This is not the end! LOL

That document needs to disappear officially. I'm sure you saw the posts already about the laws and hate groups. This document does officially leave loop holes that can put FR under the Hate Crime Act.
After that document 'goes away', I am still strongly supportive of a class action suit. This is fighting back with the lefts own weapons.
Read this:
Using legal means to hamper hate groups
April 11, 2001
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Q. Are the Klan and other hate groups diminishing as a result of your lawsuits?
A. Yes and no. There will always be people who hate, but the lawsuits are making it much more difficult for them to engage in violence and murder. That being said, there are some 600 individual hate groups that we know about in the country today. We're issuing a report that says there's a 10 percent increase over the number that we knew about last year. You can't just eliminate hate groups with lawsuits. We can go after their leaders, take what they have and make their members very cautious about taking action against people. But as far as using a civil lawsuit to take away people's free speech rights, that's impossible.

I have called and left messages all over the place at the Bee and have received exactly zero calls back! I also called the mayor, the city manager, and the HRC. Still no responses!
BTW We will be having a meeting after the rally on Friday night. Important, hope you can make it.

The following is the "Mission Statement" from the website of the Human Relations Commission. I have not seen it posted yet - sorry if it is a repeat.
Human Relations Commission Mission Statement: Promoting Peace and Harmony in the Community.
To promote harmonious relations among the many different cultures and people of Fresno, the HRC:
* Monitors discrimination and hate crimes
* Develops positive programs to address these issues
* Mediates disputes
* Educates for cultural awareness
* Celebrates cultural diversity
The Commission
The Commission is composed of 17 members appointed by the City Council and the Mayor. Each Council member appoints two members while the Mayor appoints three members. All of the Commission members have a strong commitment to promote good human relations. The HRC as a group reflects the rich ethnic and cultural diversity of Fresno.

Enrique made a fool of himself, was overly defensive and proved that they had no real evidence that we were a "hate crime" his words.
The former councilman who called in after him, Chris Peterson, a liberal, who defended the HRC stated that only ONE member of the commission, Debbie Reyes did this, not all of them. Seems one of them is lying, either Peterson, or Reyes, since she said on KMJ news that it was more than one which is why the councilman, Catalano, had retracted his call for her to resign. We taped a few of the newscasts, so we have that statement on tape.
The HRC messed with the wrong people this time! They have intimidated elected officials who are afraid to fight back for fear of being labeled bigots etc. (We already have been called that on the media and on the press release)

I loved when Mayor (former) Patterson called in and made those comments about the HRC. I had no idea that he had sat on the very first panel. They do need to be disbanded, as their original purpose has been hijacked into a political hit team against anyone not of their political beliefs. They are intimidating the council members who are supposed to be their overseers!
I found it interesting that Enrique, the HRC member said that they and the council are supposed to "a family". Good grief, who pays their family that much to attack them? They will usually do it for free you know?

I'm not laughing. But, then I am one of the people that has been directly labeled and harrassed by my own city, to whom I pay for through my property taxes.

I'm glad that we are going to have a rally this Friday. It accomplishs two things, first that they aren't going to scare us away and secondly, that we will have a lot more attention to us from the commuters.
I believe that we should request police protection. The liberal lying left may try to prove that we are trouble by starting some trouble. We may have someone that truly believes HRC shrill that we are a hate group and try to hurt us. This is the very least that the city can do after what we have been accused of.
To: notpoliticallycorewrecked
I agree with you about the police protection. I was thinking about that earlier. With the amount of media this has attracted, who knows what evil lurks out there? We were accused of being racist, homophobes, and gun toting yahoos. Did I miss anything?
I don't find it funny either, as I had neighbors come over last night and say "We saw you on television!" Hearing yourself called these kinds of things on television and radio is not exactly my idea of comic delight!

To view the full page with expanded "Mission Statement" for the City of Fresno's HRC go to the URL below. It also has the email address of the city manager.
Who BTW has refused to answer several communications, both by telephone and email.
http://www.fresno.gov/city_officials/cityman/human_relations.asp
As our previous Mayor, Jim Patterson (good guy) stated;
The Humans Relation Commision has become the type of group that the HRC was formed to "monitor".
GO FIGURE!!!

Yes lady, there was a topic that this thread was about. The topic is very important to every individual who posts on FR.
Two selfish individuals got off track and decided to carry on their own private flame war in the middle of a thread that has nothing to due with their topic. A thread that could have a huge impact on Free Republic. Apparently both of them need to reread (or read for the first time) the points about not carrying flame wars, and the point about discussing a pervious topic from one thread to another.

Anyway, way to go on the radio. I was just pulling up at school when the program came on and the host started mentioning the HRC. Damn test! I have been keeping an ear out for any mention on the radio in hopes of having a chance to present our side of this story, but this silly thing I'm involved in keeps getting in the way. I think they call it a Life! LOL

No, it was to a personal friend of mine that predates my involvement with Freerepublic. I have this flaw that I seem to have to open my big mouth and put my foot in it when my I see things I don't like. Sorry if I offended you. I like most of your posts on the whole. And I do appreciate your support of us.

I understand. That still doesn't mean he/she can inject themselves in a fight (particularly when it has died down) and lecture those of us that have been here a long time.
We have too many posting Nazis as it is now.
And BTW, the controversy initiated by the Peace Action broad is no danger to FR (not compared with what the Wash. Post/LA Times tried to do).
Cheers.
