Now if only Bush or Frist had replicated Gov. Perry's determination and legislative prowess, Miguel Estrada might have gotten used to be introduced as "Your Honor."

Somebody needs to call Gov Richardson and tell him to seal the eastern border.

I hope Governor Perry has knocked together Republican heads to get a redistricting plan through. This Midland debate is so unseemly. It seems some Republicans would rather immolate themselves than work together for the greater good of the party and the State Of Texas.

Now why did Gov. Perry announce this 6 days before it is to begin? The only legit reason would be that he couldn't call it any later.

I hope they have at least 2 of the recalcitrant RATs in custody, ready to deliver to the Capitol building.

From the Quorum Report:

GOVERNOR PLACES 8 ITEMS ON THE CALL
In adddition to redistricting

The call:

To consider legislation relating to congressional redistricting.

To consider legislation relating to state fiscal management, including adjustments to certain school district fiscal matters made necessary by recent changes in state fiscal management; making related appropriations.

To consider legislation relating to the dates of certain elections, the procedures for canvassing the ballots for an election, and the counting of certain ballots voted by mail.

To consider legislation modifying the filing period and related election dates for the primary elections in Texas.

To consider legislation relating to the financing, construction, improvement, maintenance, and operation of toll facilities by the Texas Department of Transportation and the disposition of money generated by the driver responsibility program, fines imposed for certain traffic offenses, and certain fees collected by the Department of Public Safety of the State of Texas; making an appropriation.

To consider legislation relating to the reorganization of, efficiency in, and other reform measures applying to state government.

To consider legislation appropriating fees established by legislation from the 78th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature that remain unappropriated. This matter shall be strictly construed to only include fees that were established during that session of the legislature. Legislation relating to making an appropriation for the purpose of returning to a fund outside of the state treasury cash that was transferred from the fund to the general revenue fund.

===========================

Looks like they may put off the election date, too.

Its not enough that we mearly reduce the number of Democrats that can be elected in Texas. They must be eliminated. The Republicans should begin mass incarceration of Democrats in Texas.

This is beautiful.

Once this passes, the saddle strap of the "expense of special sessions" argument gets cinch tightly to the chicken D's. As they try to speak through the bit, we will just yank back on the reigns and point out that if they were just going to pass it anyway, why waste all that money making fools of themselves in NM?

Stay tuned in for this and many other humiliating arguments during the next election cycle! Senate Republicans facing judicial filibusters, pay attention to how it is done!
