Harrison Ford blasts US Iraq policy

August 27, 2003
Madrid, Spain
At a safe distance from his homeland, veteran Hollywood actor Harrison Ford launched a broadside at US policy on Iraq, his country's gun laws - and the film industry for producing "video games" for teenagers.

"I'm very disturbed about the direction American foreign policy is going," said Ford, with US post-war casualties having exceeded those during the actual conflict."

"I think something needs to be done to help alleviate the conditions which have created a disenfranchised and angry faction in the Middle East."

"I don't think military intervention is the correct solution. I regret what we as a country have done so far," said Chicago-born Ford, 62.

"I'm very troubled by the proliferation of arms, at the fact so many people in the United States carry guns. It obviously contributes greatly to the crime problems we have. I'm sure gun laws should be strengthened in the United States. I just don't know the correct mechanism."

The veteran star is in Madrid to promote his latest release Hollywood Homicide, a story of two moonlighting Los Angeles policemen, and receive a commemorative pin from Spanish soccer club Atletico Madrid, city rivals of Real, the club having tied up a sponsorship agreement with Colombia films.

Why do these chickenshits always have to bash America when in a foreign land? Indie, ever hear of a long-forgotten trio of singers called The Dixie Chicks?

I think something needs to be done to alleviate the proliferation of large amounts of money the American public adds to Harrison's wallet.

We all new he was losing it when he:
1. Abandoned his wife
2. Got an earring (the guy's like what, 90?)
3. Dated Calista "Please buy me a burger" Flockhart

Looks like Harrison Ford will be a new addition to the boycott list...Welcome Indie! Looks like I won't be buying your DVD set coming to stores this October...Smart business move!

We are doing that right now in Iraq--who the hell could be more disenfranchised then some poor schmuck who gets tortured and killed because the son of the dicatator thought his wife was cute.

Harrison Ford complains about violence, meanwhile his movies glorify violence and add a luster of "coolness" to death and bloodshed. Hollywood actors have spent their entire lives assuming the roles and personalities of other people - this is why they never really get to know who they are and what is truly worth fighting for. They follow whatever sheepish line they believe will enhance their careers. Pity.

I find it astonishing that they feel compelled to voice their views in either direction. It's not a winning proposition for an actor to place himself firmly in one camp or another. And many of them are placing themselves firmly in what will be considered the very wrong camp. I suppose if you've already banked millions, that can dampen concerns about backlash. But I, for one, would wish to be on the right side of history. And I firmly believe I am.

why open your mouth and prove you're an asshole, when you can keep your mouth shut and have them wonder.

...help alleviate the conditions which have created a disenfranchised and angry faction in the Middle East.

They've been denied the right to vote? Harrison I think if anything the Iraqiis have just been given the right to vote without fear of a bullet to the head if they mark the wrong box.

"I think something needs to be done to help alleviate the conditions which have created a disenfranchised and angry faction in the Middle East."

We just did, you badly aging, midlife crisis wracked wretch! Take a look at those hundreds of children, yes, children, released after YEARS of imprisonment, and tell me that we haven't "alleviated" anything.

What can you expect from a person who memorizes what other people write, and move under someone's direction? Ford, and his ilk have clearly forgotten how to think for themselves, or even think at all. Why does anyone listen to them, particularly when they are simply cozying up to the socialist Eurotrash?

"I don't think military intervention is the correct solution. I regret what we as a country have done so far,"

The only other "solution" was exposed as "incorrect" on September 11, 2001.

You know, these people HAVE forgotten.

Ford doesn't have a clue about politics. He is a freakin carpenter. It is the skeleton he has been humping lately who has given him these ideas. I saw his 50-lb girlfriend on "The View" and she sounded like Hillary.

At a safe distance from his homeland,

As these spoiled brat, self-annointed policy experts continue to spit on our country, it is hard not to notice that they are not willing to say these things here on our soil. They obviously feel an OBLIGATION to side with our enemies while abroad.

Are they THAT weak, that peer pressure and the desire to BELONG can cause them to be so derisive of their own country?

I guess that becoming a leftist involves becoming a "citizen of the world", and the process requires mentally renouncing your American citizenship.

Crap, I was looking forward to the final Indy movie, if it ever gets made...

I was watching "Air Force One" the other day, and the speech he gave at the beginning of the movie, how we will never deal with terrorists, put chills up my spine. I am sad to say that at that moment I thought "wow, that sounds like W!"

What a disappointment it is when people we think we respect turn out to have feet of clay.

The art has always attracts LIBERALS, not only in the US, but everywhere. As American artists traveling to other countries, they interact with similar liberals who HATE AMERICA. Voila, they self congratulate each others for being all knowing and caring.

Harry, tell it to that Iraqi couple who named their baby after Bush for freeing their country. FNC just announced the birth and that if they'd had twins would have named the other after Blair.

And this is the guy who had the flu while filming the Indie scene with the bad guy in the market. It was scripted to be a fight with a whip but as Ford was sick he wanted it done with so just shot the bad guy with a ....G U N. None of my dollars will be going his way after this.
