Been lurking a long time. Just logged from my son's computer. Maybe the Episcopalians read these passages in the Bible: Leviticus 11:10: And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind, it is abomination. Note the use of the same description "abomination." Ergo Homosexuality according to the Bible is no worse than eating a shrimp cocktail or a catfish platter. Where am I wrong?

Your error is a common one that many people make. It is the difference between the ceremonial and dietary law that God handed down to Israel only and the eternal moral law that God handed down for all people. The prohibition against eating certain foods and engaging in some acts that would make one unclean were part of the cermonial/dietary laws.

However, the prohibition against homosexual behavior is part of the moral law. It applies not just to Israel but to all peoples and are for all time.

Your misinterpretation is common among people who want to take verses out of context to attempt to impune the Bible. Also, it's a lie that the Bible only condemns homosexuality in the Old Testament. See Romans 1.

There is a viable option for all orthodox Anglicans who want to maintain the historic worship, doctrine, and discipline of the Anglican tradition - and that is the Reformed Episcopal Church. They have 100% orthodox and conservative bishops and accept the Bible as their ultimate authority, as well as affirming the Creeds, the first four ecumenical councils, and the Thirty-Nine Articles. Anyone who is looking for an orthodox Anglican home in the U.S. should check them out.

Another alternative is the Pastoral Provision for the Anglican Usage of the Roman Rite. These are Catholic parishes comprised of former Anglican and Episcopalian congregations that have become Roman Catholic, and which have been given special permission to celebrate their own uniquely English version of the orthodox Catholic mass. Our parishes tend to be orthodox, doctrinally conservative, and liturgically traditional; the mass is celebrated by a properly attired priest, who faces the Tabernacle (not the congregation) and offers us the Body and Blood of the Lord from his own hands. (We receive Communion on the tongue while kneeling at the altar rail.) Our mass is based upon the traditional Anglican forms as found in The Book of Divine Worship and do not contain recent liturgical “improvements”. Yes, we have married priests, but these men were married before joining the Catholic Church, and are fully orthodox in their belief and teaching regarding priestly celibacy.

Anglicans, come home. The Roman Catholic Church needs you. There has never been a better time to “cross the Tiber” than now.

Confession is a sacrament in the Episcopal church as well. My understanding is that there were 2 Popes at one time, on in England and one in Rome. The Pope in Rome wanted the English one to come back to Rome but apparently he had Henry the Eighth's ear.

The only time there were "two popes" was during the Avignon Crisis. During that time there were "two popes" though one was an anti-pope, elected by his allies who didn't like the result of the papal conclave and instead chose to elect a candidate of their own choosing. There was one English pope to my knowledge, Hadrian IV, but he was in the early middle ages.

As to the period of Henry VIII, you might be refering to Cardinal Wolsey, not a Pope, but someone who held the King's ear. The one Pope was Clement XII (I think).

If the Bible is the absolute word of God, how can it change?

Well in this specific example, Christ fulfilled the requirements of the Old Testament ans broke down the wall dividing Jew from Gentile.

Here are some of the scriptures;

For starters we read in Romans 10:12 " there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him."

Ephesians 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition [between us];

We see that circumcision is not necessary for salvation (Cor. 2:2, 7:18,19)..That dietary statutes are no longer in effect (Acts 10 )...that there is no longer need for sacrifices (Hebrew 9:12)....

Your attempt at sarcasm has failed. First, the Roman Catholic Church is not a “denomination”. Second, I'll wager that there isn't a single Protestant denomination that isn't “infested” by sodomites -- or adulterers, or other kinds of sexually perverted people. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that there are more than a few Sodomites infesting your church. Let the denomination without sin cast the first stone!
