A desperate American mother of two who escaped from her tyrannical Saudi husband and sought asylum at a U.S. consulate six days ago has decided to stay put until her children can come home with her. Sarah Saga, who turned 24 yesterday, fled with her two children, Ibrahim, 5, and Hanin, 3, from a prison-like home life with her husband and his family in a desperate bid for freedom.

....Is not Sarah Saga. Her father sold her to another Saudi man, and arranged "marriage", completely against her will.

Poor girl, she needs to forget her children and move on with her life.

That was sarcasm, right?

Nope that was reality. She will never see her children again. Sad to say that is Saudi law. It was not her fault to beging with, her mom married an Islamic man.

"My ex-husband said: 'I will slit her throat and you will never see her again. I will kill her rather than let you have her.'

Dare I say she'd have been better off dead? I don't mean to be cruel, I just can't imagine myself living this way. I suspect I'd get suicidal pretty quickly. I remember reading that women in Afghanistan under the Taliban were killing themselves at a pretty high rate.

Did you even read the story? This young woman was forced to marry at 17 years old....then was beaten and controlled in a most horrible fashion.

Your generalized remarks about muslims are soooo droll.

There's not much we can do about what goes on in barbarian lands if we aren't willing to shoot a lot of people. Is it worth it to go to war for a hundred kids? We should be focused on real issues, like the Iranian nuclear program.

Didn't you read the article? The girl was forced into a marriage at 17. She can't refuse. Saudi dads (sarcasm) can kill their daughters with impunity.

She has the children with her at the consulate. She has an opportunity now to keep them precisely because she risked all to keep them with her and not walk away from them just to save her own hide. Thank God for her love and commitment to her children. I hope to God that other mothers and parents take her tract and not what you suggest.

Do you have kids of your own? If you do not, you cannot possible understand. If you do, I feel sorry for them if you would leave them and give up on them in such a manner.

... but that's just my opinion.

Even if she gets out of Saudi Arabia with her children she will never live in peace. She will basically be counting down the days till the scum bag kidnaps her children.

This is a custody dispute across international lines. The children are US citizens, and also Saudi. You can find similar hells right next door to you in the US--just without the media attn and the conflict of double-citizenship.

I don't quite know what these promoters of these Saudi ex-wives hope to accomplish. We can't exactly go to war over them, and what pressures we could bring to bear diplomatically are now lost because of the publicity.

It's like were so surprised that Saudi married life is oppressive...

No, but it is worth it to go to war with the pirate regime that bankrolled the homicidal fascists who murdered 3,000 Americans. We should have rolled in with tanks on Sept. 12, 2001.

You are right in that we probably cannot help the vast majority of those currently living in this condition.

But this woman is at the U.S. Consulate with her children and is an American citizen. I believe we can and should help her.

...and by education, we can help others avoid the condition. I believe that is what those sites are tryoing to accomplish...at least I hope it is.

That is a lesson to all STUPID CHRISTIAN GIRLS; you cannot go out with Moslem men. They want to force you to become Moslem, and then, they will treat you like a possession. In the Koran, it urges Moslem men to sexually do what they want with their wives, any time, any way, and if women resist, BEAT THEM!

Our media fails to make this message clear to the stupid American girls who get involved with this barbarian Moslem men.

They're so barbaric. We're so progressive; American moms can kill their daughters (AND sons) with impunity simply by hiring an abortionist.

Cordially,
