Question: Is this a logical, legal and FUN way to FREEP Hitlery's book??
FREEPers Everywhere ^

Posted on 06/22/2003 5:56:41 PM PDT by Recovering_Democrat

I see Drudge is headlining that Hitlery's lies in a hardcover "scanned" 438,000 copies last week. And it got me to thinkin'......what would be a fun, legal way of FREEPing the wife of Mr. SinkStainer. Especially for us FREEPers who aren't in the BELTWAY or in Old Crusty's dominion, where she signs her crappy book for the sycophants.

Anyway, here's the idea:

A couple of FREEPers go to the local B&N, or whatever, and literally PURCHASE EVERY COPY YOU CAN GET YOUR HANDS ON. Clear the shelves if you can. Make it unavailable. Go back and make multiple trips if need be. Carefully hold these pieces of garbage for a day or two.

Take the books back, since you won't be unload them to your circle of reading friends. What's sweet is, the Hitlery fans won't be able to get the book, AND it'll make those clowns at Simon and Shyster think they're making sales...only to see a buttload of returns!!

What do you think? Will it work, or is it just a massive waste of freaking time?????????? I can see it going either way.

Let's see...the first run was allegedly 1 million books, and S&S has said that they're printing another 100,000... so if they've sold 450,000, there's 650,000 still on the shelf... 650,000 x $20/copy = $13M... that's more than I've got in my checking account right now.

You have way too much time on your hands. Have you ever thought of going back to work and leading a productive life?

Sorry, but there's no way I'm going to spend my money on a lousy hillary book, even if I do return it.

And besides, Hillary "fans" can still buy the book if B&N just puts the books back on the shelves. I wouldn't be surprised if they did that. After all, just because one person hates it doesn't mean they all will. It won't cost them to re-order the books if they just stick a new price tag on it and put it back.

Simply put, I think it's a no-go. Kudos to your creativity, though.

Sounds like the kind of sleazy tactics employed by Dems to me. We should be above these types of games. Me thinks you are obsessing over the witch. That's not healthy.

Plus, if I was a Carvillian sleaze bucket and had no problem with this idea from a moral perspective, I would have to point out that from a practical standpoint, the answer to your last question would be "Yes, it is a waste of 'freakin' time."

Nice in theory, probably unworkable in practice. The sales would be lauded and no one would hear about the returns.

I believe there's a clause in the book, on page 564 or so (someone posted the exact page) stating that Hillary's book is NON-RETURNABLE. No kidding. This is the first time a major book has had a clause of this sort. How do you feel about Hillary now?!

Yes, I'm series -- I mean, serious. Let me see if I can find the post about the clause in the book. May take me 10 minutes or so. Someone posted detailed info on this clause on Thursday or Friday last week, right here on FR.

If I recall, the poster was not new to FR and is credible.

I find that to be very interesting information. If you found that for me, I'd be profoundly grateful. Thanks. :-)

Hey? Ain't you all ever heard of fighting fire with fire? The fact that we are so nice is why the rats run all over us! :-)
Of course, I wouldn't waste 5 cents on the book personally, and they would just restock anyway.

Me either. I wouldn't walk across the street to see Hillary eat a bail of hay. She's not worth the energy.

Cathryn,

I found it interesting that, on another thread here - last night I think - there is a "clause" in the book itself, which prohibits people from returning it and getting their money back. Now, I tought returning books was and is a time-honored tradition, and I'd think if anyone really cared, they would take the publisher to court over this.

It's supposed to be around page 535 or so...... can't remember.

Click here for the original thread, which the above post appeared in (it's post #19 in the thread).

I'd like to find the original thread that Bart is speaking of (from Friday night -- I wasn't on Friday night and there are so many Hillary threads that I wouldn't know where to start). I'll keep looking. Everyone else -- look too, if you're interested... Thanks...

The store would likely not accept a return of 50 copies of the book since they would know something fishy was going on.
