A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Or...How I'm Spending My Summer Vacation
"Over the river and through the woods, to Grandmother's house we go...."
School's out; summer's here.....
and that means baseball, cookouts, picnics in the park, lemonade stands, amusement parks.. and family vacations.
MinuteGal (aka Bahama Mama) and about three dozen other FReepers and FRiends recently returned from their second fun-filled FReeps Ahoy cruise, and 'DaBear family (Mama_Bear and JKPhoto) just got back from a wonderful week down under. While there, MamaBear got to cuddle with a Koala bear - one of the highlights of their vacation.
Our daisyscarlett's taking her traveling seriously this year - she no sooner got home from a month in their secluded cabin on the lake (miles from shopping and EVERYTHING!), than it was time to pack her bags to go somewhere ELSE! We hope we get to see her before the year is over! :)
To grandma's house, the beach house; the cabin by the lake, a cruise, to the mountains, San Francisco, DisneyWorld, a Dude Ranch, Golf Resort, Health Spa, Hawaii, Alaska, Six Flags.....where are you going this summer? Stop the newspaper, hold the mail, hire a plantsitter, pack your bags....and take us WITH you!
Or maybe...do you have a memorable vacation from the past - when everything that could go wrong... DID?! You can probably laugh about it now. :) Can't you? Now's the time. This is the place. :)

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Morning, Dansy. To be honest, your lighthouse vacations are much more appealing to me than the hot sand on the beach. Or that last graphic on the thread - the pier, the quiet cottage. I love water vacations, and walking on the beach early in the morning or late in the evening....but others can have it when the sand is hot and the beach is crowded! :)

Oh, how awful, lonestar. What a terrible thing to happen. Please tell me it was an accident, and no one deliberately set fire to your church. Either way, it is sad to watch it burn down - was nothing saved?

"I'm ready for SUMMER!!!!" Hi Pip!
Come to Texas and I'll remind you of that when the temperature is 108* in the shade!
To: lonestar
I meant "nothing saved from the main building" - the organ, piano, minister's podium....anything like that? Hopefully the Sunday School and office buildings 'will' survive.

Morning!
Vacation - not sure I'm getting one this summer. I would love to spend about 3 weeks at the beach but that's not happening this year. I am getting to go for a weekend of skating just for adult skaters. That will be fun for me.
My most memorable vacation was with my sister and her family, my husband, his kids in Duck NC. We rented a house in Duck. The day we arrived it just rained buckets and the people who rented the house before us left some of the windows open. So, some of the bedrooms were soaked. My nephew, who was a baby, was sick. I went out one afternoon in our new van. The sun was right in my eyes and I didn't see the car stopped in front of me until it was almost too late. I had to swerve off the road to avoid hitting the car in front of me - dented the brand new van. One night we took the little hibachi grill (you know, the really small grills) and put it on the deck and cooked dinner. Left it on the deck, went to the dunes in Kitty Hawk, came home, smelled smoke. Yes, the deck was on fire!
Needless to say, we haven't been back to Duck since. And I think the folks in Duck are just as happy about that. What a comedy of errors. We still had a great time though. We still talk about that vacation and laugh.

Hi, Gail - good, there's our coffee and biscuits and gravy. ;) Hope you are beginning to feel all better again.

Most assuredly, and there will be rejoicing!

You are always so thoughtful. (Well, when your hooligan Bro isn't around anyway) :) Thank you for the summer bouquet - looks so pretty on that picnic table.

Good morning back to you, Pippin!
Envy you your proximity to Washington, D.C. and the chance to visit there, and perhaps do some Freeping, if warranted!
