A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

Saying no to a third term, America's first President shared his hopes for the future of the young nation he helped create and which he so valiantly served.

Unbowed by a new and deadly enemy, the President readied us for the war on terror ahead and reminded us of our values.

Knew 'xactly what you meant, because, to him, everything IS about him. Interestingly, in the little booklet where I found the excerpts of some of our Presidents' more memorable speeches, these were the only Presidents who were quoted. (Roosevelt's Inaugural address was also included, but I used only his Pearl Harbor speech.)

I am so crazy about that picture, and that letter is certainly one we'll never forget. President Reagan was one of our most beloved Presidents - I'm not sure President Bush hasn't moved ahead of him now though. It's very close.

Thanks, Aqua! Enjoyed doing this one, too.

BTW, you mentioned last night (after I left) that you'd just purchased the Microsoft Picture It software. I hope you like it. I think that with most any of these graphic editing programs, you just have to practice, practice, practice using them and get comfortable with them. That one does a lot of different things - most of which I didn't 'get comfortable' with because I had another one that I used so much! I gave the 'Picture It' to my sister, and she's done some really neat things with it! Good luck, and do read the manual when you have some quiet time alone - it's another good way to get familiar with a new program without actually going through the steps on your computer. Sorta get an idea what you want to learn to do the most.

Great thread today - wonderful lesson in history from some very wonderful presidents.

((((Hugs))))) to everyone. My sister-in-law is in from Tampa for a whirlwind visit. She arrived yesterday, is attending a wedding tomorrow and is driving back to Tampa on Sunday. She had us out running around today and is in for a short nap, so I thought I'd hop on and say "Hello."

Hi, Dansy! I'm glad you could stop in - didn't know if you'd be here or not, but so glad you're having a nice weekend planned - just 'playing'!

Thank you for the kudos. This is about as much 'history' as I can stay interested in - in one sitting. Of course, these speeches have been repeated often enough it's easy to remember them. :)

Good advice. I scanned through it real quick this morning and saw where I could make my own calendar. Having plenty of calendar's around is a must in our home living with a Fireman's schedule!
Should finally be able to cut those pixel sizes in half also! :)
