Who is going to succeed GW?
Posted on 05/29/2003 11:32:51 PM PDT by ampat
Right now, there isn't a Republican presidential candidate ready to run in 2008. We don't need anymore "its my turn" Bob Doles. O'Reilly thinks hillary is a shoe in because the Republicans don't have anyone who can beat her. Cheney needs a rest, John McCain was once a contender but he has been wishy washy lately. Anyone have any nominees?

I agree with your analysis. I was just poking fun at the earlier post that intended to put Jeb at the top of the ticket!
To: Green Knight
Re your post #84 - IMHO, the winning GOP ticket for 2008 is Jeb/Condi. Now, I realize the GOP could offer the American voter a different ticket, but, as I said: the winning GOP ticket is: Jeb/Condi.

He shouldn't get any special treatment because of his name, but likewise, he shouldn't be automatically disqualified because of it, either, when the man would make a great candidate.
I agree with you. People should not dismiss him because of his name. And, he doesn't need any special breaks; he's got the goods. :)

You are correct- and I knew that too, but somehow the other is what I wrote. Thanks for the correction.

I'm not spreading a rumor. We needed a clean break from the Clintonian past who was 98% responsible. We know he was the principal culprit in the national security establishment's amnesia. But, frankly, Condoleeza did very little to change any of that. So, in effect, by not doing everything from day ONE, to reverse the damage of Clintoon, and establish a culture of integrity and concern for the real issues, she bears liability and becomes a contributor to the problem. Her lassitude aided and abetted the nonchalance within the National Security Council about lax airport security, expressly DISREGARDING the known threat of airplanes used suicidally as weapons. She expressly said afterwards in defending herself, "No one ever thought they would use planes in such a manner." The Phillipine police who had alerted the US FBI and the CIA's Counter-terrorism Center to the contrary...way back in 1995... are still just flabbergasted that the US was so adamant in denying what they
had been expressly informed of.The circumstances surrounding the apprehension of Moussaoui up here in Minnesota a good two weeks prior to the Sept. 11th attack also SHOULD have hit Condi's radar screen as well. He was arrested after the local FBI was tipped off that the guy was learning to fly commercial jumbo airplanes with no real prior flight experience, and wanted to know nothing about takeoff or landing. Just steering them towards targets. And oh, he was caught expressly using the simulator to fly into downtown Manhattan... That is why he is still labelled the 20th hijacker. This all should have been screamed to the top of her little 'to-do' list. I know it would have for mine. We here in Minnesota who followed the arrest already knew it was a possibility. Why didn't they in Washington???????!
So I am not in the Condoleeza Rice admiration society. I think she has shown herself to be a phony. She DOES have 9-11 blood on her hands. And God help us after her demented unilateral nuclear disarmament is fully implemented by GWB. The attack that will then come will make 9-11 look like a mosquito bite compared to being mauled by a tiger.

"Jeb was the original family pick to be groomed for politics..."
Yes, I read that too. Jeb was always the "smart one" in the family, whose opinion everyone stopped to listen to. I think he'd make a great president, but I doubt if people will accept 3 Bush presidencies in 20 years.

"I don't think Hillary can EVER become President. She would cause a historic turn out to vote against her. "The time to turn out is in each of the elections between now and then. If we can obtain real working majorities in both houses to support George's agenda we will be able to quit worrying about Hitlery and watch the Dims turn on each other and self-destruct. They will become the non-factor they deserve to be. As they loose power their lunacy will become more evident and the media "journalists" will desert them in droves because they can't stand to be on the losing side for very long. They are drawn inexorably to power.

I agree, as it is, we are recalling Gray Davis right now.
To be honest, I'm not sure when the next time one of our two European Socialist Senators come up for reelection.
Could be Boxer is up the next election and she is defeatable.
Right now the Democrats are desperately trying to make peace with the Greens for the elections.
I think the whole thing for Dems hits the fans when blacks wake up and see the Dems for what they are and at least split their vote.
If 5 of that 10% of national vote switched, it would pulverize the Dems power for decades.

I'd like to get George P. to run for Governor of LouisianaI think George P. Bush would be better suited for an eventual run at the California governorship ...... larger state, large Hispanic population, bigger economy, more electoral votes & a better platform from which to launch any future runs.
To: ampat
How about this scenario ...
1 - GWB wins in 2004 (of course)
2 - Cheney resigns presidency in 2006 (health reasons or the like)
3 - Frist becomes VP (correct?)
4 - VP Frist runs for President, with Connie Rice as VP, or Powell ...
Remember, you heard it here first!!

You know, seeing this made me think about the Bush political dynasty. People have compared it to the Kennedys, but actually it is much much more successful than the Kennedys. The Bushes have put 2 presidents in Office (and Jeb looks good in 2012). The have had 2 governorships and more on the way (they actually have chosen to WORK for a living, as opposed to Senators who BS for a living).
Why is this? Because the Bushes pass on to their entire family a real VALUE SYSTEM that resonates with people. These are CONSERVATIVE VALUES of Hard Work, Color-blindness, Service to the Country for it OWN Sake, Love of one's fellow Man, and a natural Optimism of the good nature of individuals and what the human spirit can do.
Compare that to the Kennedy legacy of Power for its own sake, Winning as a goal, and total contempt for individuals as too stupid to manage their own lives and needing GOVERNMENT (in the guise of KENNEDYS) to tell people how to live and act. The CLINTONS are the logical final result of the KENNEDY legacy. I am sure that Honey Fitz was dancing in his grave when Billy and Hitlery were elected -- especially the second time. After that second time he must have known that the American people can be fooled endlessly.
God Bless the Bush Clan and may they continue to keep their legacy of values alive. And may He have mercy on the Souls of the Kennedys, Clintons, and their progeny and ilk.

I'm a white male and depending upon where she stands on the issues, I'd certainly vote for her.

Yah, I've been thinking about Dr. Rice, but frankly, I really don't know where she stands on the issues. Is she even a conservative? I don't know. Is she pro-life? Does she oppose affirmative action? Where does she stand on taxes,? Does she--like I--believe Social Security is a scam. Is she--like I--opposed to all government social programs? Is she, like Bush, brave enough to commit troops? Will she nominate conservaties to the courts? Will she stand for morality? As far as I can tell, she's a black box. If, however, she's on the right side of these and other issues, I'll be working on her campaign in Oklahoma.

You could NEVER Say that on DU. Or on TV. Or with a small group of people. Or alone, in your bathroom (the lIberals lie -- they are the ones who want to watch).
I prefer to say she is a "black babe." There. Much more PC, see?

I also agree
Jeb Bush/Condi Rice would be a WINNING ticket and I believe would beat Hitlery/Edwards easily. If GW takes California in '04, I think Jeb could win it in '08.
I just hope Jeb will run!!!
