JustPiper,Many times in a competition people pick out so called flaws-ugly,fat,thin,black,white,old,young,woman,man,and Etc.,etc.,etc., .To be in a competition you need thick skin for what is posted here will be said in person to each person on the program,Paula gave the best advise, your friends will look at you different and you need a core to support you and it matters not what your talent is but what your strength is and who helps to hold you up.

Actually I figured all the white rednecks from around the world would have been dialing in mass to make sure the black guy wouldn't win. Good for Reuben. "Knowing a few white rednecks....I gotta tell you...Clay was just too gay for them.
I myself was pretty torn...decided to call in and vote for whoever's line I could get through on....turned out it was neither. The phones were totally jammed up for both.

Your record? You've already said you only watched the last 15 minutes of the show, so you obviously don't know what you are talking about, but you do feel qualified enough to come on these threads and tell us what suckers we are.
Tell somebody who cares.

Howlin..me and you get along right?
And I think that young black guy, Reuban has been consistently brilliant. I think he has a voice like melted chocolate.
I think Clay is very 'Broadway'..both in voice and presentation.
I liked the Grayson boy better. He seemed to have a little more heart than performance, in his songs.
And that's the one thing about Reuben for me...he could sell the song better.
(BTW..as a girl with MANY gay friends, I really DO think Clay bats for the pink side..not that that matters!)

Buy 2 cds When my daughter played Evanescence for me, I am 51 and told her that girl is a rare talent. When they came to our local Metro well, I bought 4 tickets to see her before I knew she'd get big fast, Amy Lee, and we could not afford it very soon. Their album debuted at #7, new group and we bought 3 cd's in this house. You must know I hate crowds and normally would think its so whacked to go to a teen concert. I had a ball!!!

A mere 130,000 votes separated the winner and the runner-up I thought it was 1,300 separating them?

His weight may have something to do with his pitch problem, too. Abdominal breathing is probably very difficult for him. Can you imagine?
I'm an R&B singer in real life, and was not terribly impressed with the very short clip I heard on FNC (it was pitchy and forced) - the other guy actually sounded far more like a natural singer to me (and I love R&B, and typically prefer any soul singer to anyone else).
I've never watched the show because I hate stuff like that. The School of Hard Knocks is difficult enough as it is without people (who probably couldn't sing their way out of a paper bag) critiquing you in front of a nationwide audience.

That doesn't mean he rigged the voting, or did anything besides slanting his own on-air judging Hold up though Diva, you know Simon ended last nights show with "Clay, that last song just may have won you the competition!" Reverse psych mayhaps?

Clay got rooked by the phone system which was run out of San Antonio...Its more likely that Bush got rooked by a Gore double punch scheme in your Florida.

However, there was a discussion the other night on Ruben's weight in the context of both Barry White and Luther Vandross' life threatening conditions.Oh, I don't deny at all that his weight is unhealthy in general and especially bad for someone about to embark on a 45-cities-in-55-days tour (or whatever the numbers are). (Though I would point out that Ruben's only 25 while Barry White and Luther Vandross are both well into middle age.) It's the argument that he shouldn't win BECAUSE he is overweight that is disgusting.
And I'm betting (and hoping) that Simon's going to personally sew the world's most annoying Atkins dietician to Ruben's thigh for the next six months. Lord knows Ruben can afford it now.
To: Howlin
No Howlin, not my record. The record of the conversation between us tonight on this thread...or would you like to forget? I'm not commenting on whether or not Rueben or (now I know his name) Clay should have won. I have no clue nor do I care. I'm commenting on the results of Rueben winning and the resulting comments on this. You, however, have not addressed my comments but have chosen to "flame" me. That's fine cause I don't care. It only weakens whatever argument you have (and I ain't (again, old Alabama expression) seen one yet).

BAMA

Seacrest first announced 13 thousand votes. He then changed it to 1,300 votes. Then the Fox affiliate corrected the tally one last time to 130K votes. Pretty creative bookkeeping if you ask me. I guess they are already feeling some heat so they really cooked the numbers after the show was over.Just out of curiosity, have you ever worked in live television?
To: republicandiva
but now that Ruben is the winner, he needs to seriously address this problem.
Your absolutely correct!

``Think whatever you like.'' I shall.
After all, it is only a silly competition, which I take less seriously, than you obviously do.
To: RMDupree
The vote was rigged. On the directions to vote by cell phone or text messaging they gave Reubans number as the example of a contestants number. Also I looked at about 60 newspaper and tv polls around the country today and reuban only led in ONE that I saw. Clay led in virtually all of them and by a good sized margin. No way were that many polls wrong. The numbers you dialed were rigged or certain high Clay vote states were blocked or they just said "let's make it a 13,000 vote difference in Reubans favor."
