We're going to see this with Clay as well. Now that the pressure of the competition is off, he is going to GO FOR IT!

And he danced tonight, too.

Clay was actually voted off, but ironically the judges brought him back as a wildcard!

Well, saying this was really a show on which the voting audience counted (which it is clearly not), no one gets voted "off"--they just don't get voted in. It's not like Survivor, where people vote for whom they want out. (And yet it is like Survivor, cuz the outcome is manipulated by the network from the get-go.)

I can't believe anyone has anthing invested in this. What will happen will happen. Both will do well I assume. But...who cares? It's frigging TV. Since I'm from Alabama I decided to watch the last 15 minutes then came over here. Can't believe the "firestorm" this has caused. Again...who cares...they will succeed, or fail, on the real talent they have.

Once the racism card was used earlier in the competition there was no hope that it would be anyone other than a black winner. From the very first Simon said it would be a boy! So the fix was in from the beginning.

We had some good fun with this but the bitter ending cured me of watching any more Idol.

Randy Jackson, "yo, dog..." was always disgusting. Just what IS his claim to fame, anyway?????

Hey, this is the new, cool look (as seen on Ryan Seacrest). Plus it was necessary to boost Clay's image and cover his ears.

Don't worry, the girls think the hairstyle is adorable.

Seems like one thing you know is bigotry. Sounds like you're an expert.

Honestly, no. Clay was not marketable mainstream. I'm serious about that. Take asthetics aside, he just wasn't a mainstream singer. Strong? Hell yes. Marketable? No.

No way. Ruben is a better singer and has a more appealling personality.

Everyone knows here Ruben was my choice but no one can gloat or harangue either boy with 1335 votes. There don't need to be any gloryhounds or sore losers here. this IS FreeRepublic after all ;)

Send my your photo and I'll be the judge of that, computer warrior.

The judge of what? Whether or not you'll vote for me as the next American Idol?

Send me your photo first. Make sure it's a recent one. LOL

The producers must be liberals that can't do math like Democrats in Congress.

They kept giving Ryan bad numbers. At 24 million votes, a vote of 50.2% to 49.8% is more than 96,000 votes. Fox earlier told Yahoo news that the spread was 130,000 votes.

What a travesty people can't do simple arithmetic anymore.

I voted for Clay 6 times last night...all I could get through.

They shut the phone lines down so that votes for Clay couldn't get through.

Now that's funny!

I think the judges' comments hurt Clay, especially Simon's continually carping on how he sounded "Broadway," which was intended to make everybody go "eeeewwwwwww."
