President Bush and First Lady Laura welcomed Philippines President Glora Macapagal-Arroyo and her husband, First Gentleman Jose Miguel T. Arroyo to the White House today for a rare but official state visit. The President and Arroyo held a joint press conference today and addressed the war on terror as well as the prospects for peace in the Middle East. This evening, the First Couple hosted a state dinner honoring the visiting President Arroyo. Also announced today, White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer will be leaving his post later this year. We'll miss you, Ari! Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

That sounds annoying. I understand completely. I have a very good chiropractor who discovered that my feet bones can get "out of whack" and taught me how to "whack" them back into place. Before that my knees and hips were killing me. Going up stairs was very painful. Now I just give my arches a good solid whack with the heel of my hand a few times a month and VOILA (pardon my french) no more hip pain and very little knee pain. Something to think about before you go getting locked into a cast for the heat of the summer.

I will let everyone here know as soon as we know anything. Thank you so much.
I felt so bad for her last night. She was in such a state. But by the time we got to the hospital and she saw that we were taking her seriously, she calmed down and even cheered up quite a bit by the time we left the hospital and got home and fixed her something to eat. She was still in quite a bit of pain today, and she's worried, but she knows that we'll do whatever we can to see her through it.

That Filipino prez is so tiny next to our Dubya, he looks even taller than his 5'11" next to her. They look like me and my own better half together, I'm 5'4" and he's 6'4"...

I declare, Bush could charm a mouse out of a cat's hungry mouth.
President Arroyo looks very calm, happy, and contented to be with the Leader of the Free World.
I refrain from commenting on Mrs. Bush's gown. I liked Mrs. Arroyo's dress, even the sash, and even the color. Despite how petite she is, I didn't think either the style or color overwhelmed her.

Fire that designer!
I agree!
Whoever did the fitting on that dress failed miserably. The fit across the shoulders is awful! Laura is an attractive woman; seeing her in that brocade number, you'd never know that though.

Oh My! So young to get all the plumbing removed. I would have not been able to make that decision at such a young age.
Prayers sent!

It makes her look "matronly" doesn't it. But, she's still a beauty!

I felt that way, too. Those sleeves are not good for her petite size. I'm not sure WHERE they'd ever look good. She's a cutie, though, isn't she?

The dress I'm wearing Saturday night for an event I'm in has a bow on it. It's kind of a 'sack' dress, lovely, but I need something that covers the 'hump' and this does it pretty well. I could do without the bow, though. Durn.

"Perhaps the sleeves could have been scaled down a bit?"Actually, I think the size has something to do with the status of the woman who wears the sleeves. Bigger the sleeves, the higher the status, etc. We had many Filipinos in our parish in Alaska, and they were all petite, but they wore their traditional dress at Christmas, and it was stunning.
