President Bush began the day by speaking at the United States Chamber of Commerce in Washingtion about the economy and his proposed stimulus package. Bush then met with Jerry Bremer, who he appointed presidential envoy to Iraq. Later in the day, the President welcomed Prime Minister Goh of Singapore and signed a free-trade pact between the United States and Singapore. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

I hope everyone heard Rush play JFK tapes on tax cuts. One would have thought he was a pubbie! It was great. JFK was an entirely different democrat than what we have now, and his words could have been W's! One woman rat called just appalled that Rush would dare use JFK to prop up that Republican President! It was halarious since it was his own voice, his own words, and his own policies! Showed her ignorance big time!

Mike ~~~ there may be a great deal more to that letter than you'll ever know. Think of the tv show M*A*S*H and some of the excuses guys gave to try to get home .... I'll bet some of that sort of stuff happened in real life. Your dad may have known things that aren't obvious from the letter. Just something for you to ponder ....

After we hit Saddam with 4 JDAM penetrators, the biggest piece of him left was about "this big".

Yes, the other brother is an officer in the Ohio Air National Guard. His twin is an officer in a Michigan Air Force Reserve unit and the third brother is in a unit in Battle Creek (they fly A-10's).

Officers, and pilots especially, needs lots of "assistance". They can handle multi-million dollar airplanes, but a simple phone....?

Thank you all for your kind comments about my family's service. It is a tradition that goes back generations and will no doubt continue with the new generation. We have American Revolution, Civil War and WWII veterans in our background. I don't suppose it would even occur to us NOT to serve our country. We are blessed, lucky, and grateful to live in the best country on earth.

I too, have a stellar cast of warriors in my family too! One grandfather also was in the "Boxer Rebellion" late in the 19th century, and in the "Spanish-American War". However, he had retired by WW1. Both of my grandmothers had parents who came from S.France(Basque region), and Germany.

One of my ggrandfathers was in the French military in the mid or, late 19th century, so he was a military man too, although from a foreign country. He was either MIA or KIA, though I don't know what war it was.

Oh, I forgot to mention my dad, step-dad, a hand-full of uncles and cousins, and a few friends who were also military, going from Rev. War, all the way up to at least Viet Nam. (maybe some after that).

I also have a long history of military in my French ancestry. They came to the New World in the 1600's and 1700's and never left.

A couple of my ancestors were with Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac when he founded Detroit in 1701. On my German side, we fought in the French and Indian War as well as the Revolution. They fled Germany in 1709 and were refugees in New York in 1710.

I find it all fascinating. Some of my French ancestors were even in on the Pontiac rebellion against the British in Detroit, more backbone than today's French!

Though I don't remember this particular one, my guess is it was taken while he was touring the devastation brought on by the forest fires in Oregon last summer. I can't remember when he went there but I thought it was during August while he was at the Western White House. I can't tell for sure if it is the "green shirt" but it looks pretty close. He usually always wore the green shirt when returning to the WH on weekends.

In any event, it's a nice picture.

Missed the Dose last night - out with girlfriends. I CANNOT believe the Dems are proposing another measly $300 check. Thanks a lot Tom. Criminy, we tried that before - only 2 years ago - and it didn't really work did it? Democrats never learn. And how in the world does extending unemployment benefits help people find jobs? The dems are hopeless.

At my dinner last night, one girlfriend despises W, the other was indifferent, and I was his advocate of course. Not sure why my one friend hates him so much but she does and it's very visceral. She pledged to campaign for anyone who ran against him. It's funny because policy wise and such, she's much closer to the GOP than she thinks. It's wierd. Anyway my one friend who is indifferent said that he reminds her of Reagan and than said, "but you probably think that's a good thing!" And I said, "of course!" It was an interesting conversation to say the least.
