O'Reilly Seeks to Destroy Georgia Republican Governor

Posted on 05/06/2003 5:58:32 PM PDT by faithincowboys

Tonight, Bill has continued his jihad against Georgia Republican Governor Sonny Perdue. O'Reilly, who recently made what many considered an anti-black remark, has launched a full frontal assault on Perdue.

Inexplicably, Bill O blames the GOP Gov for an all-white private prom that recently occured in Baldwin County Georgia. Of course, if the Governor could prevent the white kids from having a private prom, we would be living in a totalitarian state.

Bill is clearly seeking to destroy Perdue to deflect from his racially insensitive faux pas.

Perdue's Black Female Press Secretary was on The Factor tonight and Bill was rude and hostile to her, it kinda made you think that if Bill were throwing a private party at his big Long Island digs (why doesn't he live closer to work in a more diverse area?) he wouldn't invite her unless she agreed to hold a serving tray all night.

Georgia is all ready in a state of racial tension, due to the flag issue, Bill's attempt to destroy Georgia's first Republican Governor since Reconstruction is, without a doubt, an assault on the GOP.

We should all let O'Reilly know how we feel about this. Also, when O'Reilly's young daughter becomes school age, we must demand that he sends her to a school in Harlem. The white kids who went to that prom attend a 55% African American majority high school and live more racially integrated lives than O'Reilly and his wealthy Long Island elitists ever have.

Were the kids morally wrong to exclude their balck peers from their private prom? Yes. Were they legally wrong? No. Does Sonny Perdue bear any culpability in the matter? Absolutely Not!

O'Reilly is now demanding that Perdue hold a press conference, go on The Factor, and/or go to this week's integrated prom.

I find O'Reilly's stance on this untenable and grotesque. Hobbling a Republican Governor (unfairly) driving up anti-Republican sentiment in the South (a region integral to Dubya's re-election) and galvanizing Southern Democrats is a clear sign that Bill is not on our team.

Maybe he's not on the D team either, perhaps, he is on his own team-- in a very Clintonian way. His jihad against Georgia's Governor is to appease the NYC, DC chattering class who think he is a racist and suspect his Jesse Jackson fixation is rooted in racism.

In a suck up to his critics, Bill O has thrown an innocent man to the wolves. This is outrageous!

and persecuting 18 years olds that

"During the 1990's a liberal church in my area hosted proms for gay teens. The local media praised the church for showing compassion and tolerance for young homosexuals. Apparently, freedom of association is prohibited for white straight christians."

Exactly my point. EVERY 'minority' group in the country gets preferential treatment....... except when some white kids want to do their thing, it's a national disgrace. Shame is was even publicized.

I think it's a shame that the governor is about to become a lamb on the altar of 'political/racial agendas'. O'Reilly is pompous. I would not watch his show because it's difficult watching him manipulate guests and not let them get a word in edgewise. He's also a liar as Drudge attests to almost every Sunday.

Bothered by this? Yes. Does it hurt to know that this sort of business is still going on in America? Sure. However, I have to remind myself that the South and it's racial issues are not old and is still very fresh in a lot of people's minds. The north isn't innocent either but the race issues are different. Hey New York has Al Sharpton and Hillarybeast after all! It also fuels stereotypes of Sothrons most of whom I believe aren't racist.

" In regards to the Congressional Black Caucus, Bill said that he could understand a Black Caucus since they were organized to make the needs of the black community known. Of course I began screaming at the radio saying: "Isn't that what a representative is supposed to do anyway? Why do they need a special group to do that? Why isn't there a White Congressional Caucus to represent the needs of the white community?""

Another good point about whites being victimized in our society today..... not all the minority groups.

But O'Rielly needs to let this one go.

O'Reilly was his usual confrontational rude Yankee-Irish-American-New Yorker self tonight, I saw the whole incident.

What I find troubling is how so many FReepers find O'Reilly inexcusable--just because he's pointing out (entirely in character) the wimpishiness on this issue of Gov. Purdue.

The Governor should--using his bully pulpit--call this private all-white prom what it is: RACIST.

There's no legal sanction to be made on folks right to association here, however a MORAL SANCTION, the kind that if we'd had it in the bad old days of segregation, would have made the civil rights laws unnecessary, is entirely called for here, and seems to be what the governor is avoiding.

I'm amazed at the virtually 90% posters here who cut on O'Reilly (who really does seem to be an equal-rights-rude-and-confrontational kind of guy...) without seeing the problem with a timid governor.

The comments I've read here really does cause one to wonder that maybe some of those southern Republicans may be (like Trent Lott and Strom Thurmond) just ex Democrats who liked segregation back in the day.

FYI I'm saying this as a conservative southern Republican.

I believe David Duke started a NAAWP,etc. but who wants to be associated with him?! No need to start a group. All that needs to be done is for certain people to grow some hairy cajones and don't take crap from Jesse, etc.

You're wrong. Maybe those white kids don't but most white kids today are listening to all kinds of music and could care LESS about lyrics. I can't stand chump change fitty cent.

I agree with you.
Liked O'R but this is beyond the pale reaching for audience numbers but fabricating controversy. Don't like it at all.

Decided we could do without tuning in simply to not add to the numbers. Funny, I agree with him when he is not on a liberal elitist binge.

Donning white hoods while burning crosses on busy city streets on MLK Day and line dancing in a rec hall?

I know those two activities are morally equivalent, but I just haven't figured how yet, maybe you can help me?

"...and his only problem is he won't let go of something once he starts in on it."

And he's really going to blow a gasket when he sees the way his prom poll is going. He's not going to be a happy camper.

So you don't think that the rich elite send their kids to de facto all-white schools?

I'll explain Santa later.

When you think about some of the most controversial recent racial incidents-- Louima, Rodney King, The LA Riots, Crown Heights, Bensonhurst, Diallo, etc.- they have happened in the North.

I think the South has demons on this issue, but isn't it funny that JC Watts was elected in an overwhelmingly white district by white Republicans in Oklahoma, yet nearly all the other memebrs of the CBC are elected in districts with super black majorities. I think the North and other liberal areas, who feel so confident on these issues, need to look in the mirror and address their own race problems rather than constantly attack white Southerners.

Why is their not 1 black Democrat Senator? The truth of the matter is, that if a Black wants to get elected to state-wide office, he or she should be a Republican.

AH HA!!!!!!!! You got it. When Carl McCall ran for governor, he was ABANDONED by the democratic party. Rush Limbaugh felt sorry for him and raised over ten million dollars for his campaign. I voted for him in protest vote against Pataki. However, democrats wouldn't support him because they felt he wasn't a viable candidate. Any less viable than Dinkins?!!! Carl McCall, if you bring down to race, has more class than Dinkins, even if he is a democrat. Yeah JC Watts... people forget that. He doesn't count though, he's a uncle tom black conservative like that other sell-out Clarence Thomas.

What comments make you think that people on this thread have sympathies for segregation?

So you think the Governor should enter this fray?

Don't you think Bill is doing this to deflect from his "wetback" and "I hope they ( a group of young black males) are not stealing our hub caps" comments.

It's a way to get Lloyd Grove (Wa. Post Columnist) and the other "witch-hunters" off his tail.

It's the Clintonian change-the-subject maneuver. He''s not going down on race, he'll make Perdue (a white Southerner) go down on race. Does the "hub cap" comment look so bad when there are segregated proms in Georgia?

O'Reilly is one wily old coot!

I have followed your inane ramblings on this thread for some time and feel its time to add my 2 cents.

Unlike you, I live in a 95% or more black neighborhood. My daughter goes to a 97% black school. I graduated from a high school some 90% black in 1978. I was one of 11 whites out of 168 that graduated. At my job, not counting manaement, there are probably no more than 30 out of 400 whites.

I don't think that it is wrong to invite who you want to a private party. It is not even a real prom, since it was a private function. Do I agree with them? I am not privy to their thoughts and motives so, I can't judge them. I would disagree with them if their only reason was race, but it is still their business.

As you can figure, my prom was integrated and I was one of the few whites there. Oddly enough, 2 years later, I was invited to a prom of the sister of a friend and was suprised to find no blacks there. Why? They had there own prom. It felt very odd to me even then. Their school actually sponsered 2 seperate proms by race in 1980. I see by this story that it was still happening there till 2001!

I have attended parties where everyone is white. Does that make it racist? I have attended many that are mixed. I have NEVER attended anything since that prom where it was specifically stated that blacks were not wanted. I don't play that game and would tell them so.

I should mention that my foster daughter is black and her first comment about her school here in Memphis was "there were too many blacks." When I asked her what she meant, she told me that her previous school in Nashville was much more mixed with whites, blacks, and others. A definite eye opener for me.

I have written much more than I intended but the preoccupation with white guilt and slamming whites for every percieved sin is getting a bit old with me.

The actual truth is the governor had no business interfearing with a PRIVATE party, no matter what you or O'Reilly think. It is getting old and it is way past time to stop this madness.

All you say is true. Isn't it interesting that it took a conservative Republican President to introduce the world to the prodigous talents of Condi Rice and Colin Powell-- two individuals who are grossly over-qualified for their positions?

I hope that the Condi Rices of the world eventually overwhelm the divisive hacks like Maxine Waters and Sheila Jackson Lees.
