A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

Ever seen a more pathetic bunch?

by JohnHuang2

Not to beat a dead horse, but have you ever seen a more pathetic bunch? Speaking here of the liberal Democrats.
Nothing seems to go their way; Quagmirists keep hoping and searching for quagmire, but keep coming up empty. The huge Shi'ite pilgrimage to Karbala will get out of control and end in bloodbath, many leading Quagmirists gleefully predicted last week. Didn't happen. A critical meeting in Baghdad Monday put Iraq on track towards a transitional government in less than a month -- again, dashing the hopes of leading Quagmirists. If that wasn't bad enough, Saddam's birthday was also on Monday, but AFP reports "joyous crowds in Baghdad," in a blow to Quagmirist theory, "showed their scorn" for Iraq's deposed dictator, "mocking his birthday by dressing up a donkey as the fallen strongman and giving him a cake made of excrement."

Had enough? Well, there's more. Over the weekend, "documents discovered in the bombed out headquarters of Iraq's intelligence service" provided "evidence of a direct link between Saddam Hussein's regime and Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda terrorist," reports the Associated Press, citing the U.K.'s Sunday Telegraph. Liberals, jolted at the bombshell, attempted to regroup, cobbling up various cop-out defenses for Saddam (it's Bush who's chummy with al-Qaeda, not Saddam!), but then came Tuesday and another nabbing by U.S. forces in Baghdad.
Nailed this time? Some operative (name withheld) working under al-Qaeda big fish Abu Musab Zarqawi. Well, there goes the Lefty theory that Bush, under the spell of a 'Jewish cabal' -- Cheney, Powell, Rummy and Condi masquerading as Protestants -- concocted the whole Saddam-al-Qaeda connection to sully poor Saddam's good name and reputation and justify war on Iraq. Oh, and to give Bush a bump in the polls.

Amid reports that triumphant Bush is set to announce an end to hostilities this Thursday aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln, Democrats -- frustrated, disheartened, dispirited, dismayed -- are lashing out.
Ba'ath loyalist Hillary Clinton *lost it* Monday night. In an angry outburst before a Democrat gathering in Connecticut, she bitterly accused Bush of everything but the SARS virus.
It's clear that Democrats aren't coping too well in the wake of the ouster of Saddam Hussein's regime.
"Two weeks after Baghdad's fall, shock has given way to perplexity in the liberal world," writes David Lamb in a special report to the Baltimore Sun newspaper Sunday.
"Democrats," he adds, "seem at a loss to respond to the reality of a U.S.-run Iraq or to formulate a strategy that may help shape the post-Saddam Hussein era. Despite hand-wringing over the suffering of Iraqis," ... "there is little talk [among Democrats] about what role [liberals] may play in reconstruction. No Democrat dares mention the word democracy when [contemplating] a new Iraqi government. Even [liberal] columnists are uncomfortable asking whether the war may bring beneficial change to the Middle East."
"[Democrat] writers would be reluctant to express that idea, even if they believed it, which most don't," Mr. Lamb quotes a "influential daily newspaper" editor saying.
During the war, CNN and other Leftist outlets were "promoting false hope, giving the idea Iraq could win," Lamb writes, quoting a liberal economist. "But you could tell from Day 1 looking at the maps Iraq had no chance."
Liberal media journalists, said the Leftie economist, "don't think in a pragmatic way. They are full of wishful thinking. That comes after suffering one defeat after another for so many years, and that string of defeats hasn't yet come to an end, I'm afraid."
"And anger echoes," says Mr. Lamb, "over Hussein's discarded promise to make a valiant defense of his capital."
Oops, hold on a sec....Oh, no -- I did it again, FReepers! Mr. Lamb was writing about 'Arabs', not "liberals" and "Democrats." I know, I know, I said I'd be careful not to make such typos again....but ;)
Anyway, that's...
My two cents

I'm part Canadian myself and had to laugh when I saw that picture of that sign. Shows the Canadian people are sick of that clown who's running thier country now.

Good Thursday morning to all gathered here on this Finest thread on this fine day, and to those yet to arrive.

Martin_Fierro, I am sorry to have missed your day in the spotlight yesterday. As one of the "hostesses" of this thread, I should be here every day.....but work keeps getting in the way. Dansy did a great job, as always, with her interview and you have earned your stripes and your place among the "inquisition survivors". LOL. It is a pleasure meeting you.

Grantswank, thank you for the gifts of yourself that you bring with your poetry posts. "Faith's Blossom First" is beautiful.

And, thank you, dutchess, for bringing us John's Two Cents. JH2, once again, right on! And please, keep writing on - we love your two cents!

Our valiant and victorious fighter pilots from the USS Lincoln will be flying into Lemoore Naval Air Station this afternoon. A big family welcome home celebration on the base has been being planned for weeks. It will be thrilling to hear them flying over, knowing that their ten month deployment is finally over and they are home at last.

Thomas Kinkade ~ Hometown Pride (with yellow ribbon added)

Have a wonderful May 1st, everyone!

Hot off my e-mail this morning. From my brother, the transplanted Texan in California:

A squad of American soldiers was patrolling along the Iraqi border. To their surprise, they found the badly mangled dead body of an Iraqi soldier in a ditch along side the road. A short distance up the road, they found a badly mangled American soldier in a ditch on the other side of the road, who was still barely alive. They ran to him, cradled his blood-covered head and asked him what had happened.

"Well," he whispered, "I was walking down this road, armed to the teeth. I came across this heavily armed Iraqi border guard. I looked him right in the eye and shouted,`Saddam Hussein is an unprincipled, lying, worthless piece of trash!"

"He looked me right in the eye and shouted back, `Bill Clinton, Tom Daschle, Ted Kennedy and most of your Democrats are unprincipled, lying, worthless pieces of trash, too!'

"We were standing there shaking hands when the truck hit us."

Hey, how were you able to link to a live webcam image on your FR page?

I'd like to do something similar with a live Pittsburgh webcam, but all I've been able to get it to do is show a static image -- not a live, updated one.

Time for my weekly 'Dear John' letter:

Get a grip, JH - everything is "all about them" and they surely must themselves loathe threir current predicament of not being relevant in a blessed thing!

WHERE'S YER COMPASSION, MAN??!!

Consider that when young Bush stole wrested from the grip of algore the Presidency, they were deeply distraught, and simply cannot 'get over it.'

Why'd ya have to pick TODAY, JH, to rub salt in their bleedin' liberal heart wounds??

TODAY, JH, when the President is to be in a plane and land upon the Lincoln's deck - the commander-in-Chief, among his heroes - and that will force a more than painful comparison?

Here we have the handsome and smiling GWB as a young Reserve pilot - - -

I did not bother to search for the contrasting picture of algore during his few months as a Nam 'reporter' - his appointed bodyguard got in the way of the camera and ruined the shot, no doubt AG cowering behind him under fire that was 15 miles away.

Yeah, well - - back to the drawing board.

Just who can they "recreate" now to be a Be All - Do All - Upstanding Kinda Runner?

Where's yer mercy, JH??
sad I tell you....plumb sad.....

Keep those cards and letters comin' though - - we need you!!

Love ya,
LadyX

Interfaith Summit: What is Missing? Evil

How can one find fault with a gathering that holds hands and chants peace peace peace?

What’s wrong with that picture?

Not much, of course. Peace and daffodils in spring and mom’s roast beef dinner — they are all quite nifty. Therefore, gatherings can endorse them without any fear of being kicked in the shins.

So it was that so-called Christian, Muslim and Jewish reps met in Chicago today appealing for the planet to turn to peace. Now isn’t that nice? And will the planet turn to peace?

"In a dark time the eye begins to see. We cannot afford to live in a decade of violence and war," stated Bob Edgar, General Secretary of the theologically liberal National Council of Churches. "We need to come together as we've done at this summit to think broadly about how we can model some new behavior here in the United States, to stand up and speak clearly — an alternative voice to some of those negative fundamentalist voices — and to also urge our colleagues around the world to model that behavior as well," he said, according to UPI.

"We're not going to be a very happy place if for the next century all we do is go to war with each other and think badly of one another. "Of course, the underlining theme that was not all the difficult to get hold of was that United States President George W. Bush is out to lunch when it comes to religious faith and action. Further, he is out to lunch mainly because he listens to and companies with evangelicals and fundamentalists and charismatics—biblically grounded Christians.

Those who travel to an interfaith conclave such as met at the O’Hare Marriott Hotel are theologically on the other side from the biblically-moored evangelicals, fundamentalists and charismatics. Those at the holding-hands-for-peace sing-around are known in religious circles as theological liberals. Their counterparts are theological conservatives.

And when it comes to theological liberals, they simply adore such themes as peace and happiness and children at play, but realities such as evil, sin, Satan and personal accountability before a personal God who appeared in Jesus Christ are the last postulates of religion they would adhere to. In fact, they are not only the last postulates, they are ones that would never be scratched into their doctrinal chart to begin with.

What President Bush kept reiterating before and throughout and following the Iraqi Freedom conflict was the "evil axis" in this world. "Evil" was and still is an oft-repeated term when it came to President Bush’s public speeches. He considers the axis to be an evil that is actual. It is an evil that works from hell’s power. It is an evil overseen by demons who would destroy God’s creation and all living persons.

Theological liberals see the biblically-focused evangelical, fundamentalist and charismatic forthrightness regarding the Bible’s definition of evil as an evil. Therefore, theological liberals spend every ounce of so-called spiritual energy countering anyone who defends a biblical definition of evil.

For instance, there is the dean of a cathedral nearby who has spent much of his adult years fighting the "evil" that will not legitimatize homosexual actions. He defends practicing homosexuality in the name of "diversity." Therefore, those who would disagree with him on biblical grounds are considered an evil presence in our community. They, the biblical definers of "evil," are the enemy, not those who engage in homosexual acts.

And so the beat goes on and on and on. Take whatever moral and ethical issue you would like; when it comes down to defining it as evil or not evil, the theological liberal does not care a flip about the Bible data. The theological liberal cares only for his own politically correct, liberally acceptable definition. Period.

Therefore, when interfaith summits gather such as today’s Chicago’s sing-around for world peace, it is simply another opportunity for the forces of evil to rejoice. Why? Because they, hell’s demonic evils, will not be recognized at all by those at the summit.

Instead, they will be tolerated in the name of "peace" and "happiness for all." Real evils will be sidelined in order to attack the very persons who define "evil" by the biblical definition, hence the summit not being any friend to President Bush and Company.

Hi, dutchess...thanks for serving up another helping of JH2's very shiny, newly minted two cents.

'Nother homer, JH2...you're getting predictable...) Truth is, you slipped this one right by me, and I didn't catch your typo until the end...that's not just a homer, but a grand slam.

I just love the description of Xillary as a Baath Party Loyalist.

Hey, Freepers all, good day to you...)))
