Trudeau insults Christians in Easter Day Doonesbury cartoon

On Easter of all days, Gary Trudeau uses his Doonesbury cartoon to insult Christians in general, and George Bush's faith in particular. How quick the liberals are to condemn someone else's faith and belief system, but just let a Christian say anything negative about another's belief system and how quick they are to invoke an injunction against "judgementalism."

Because I don't want my children to read this kind of garbage, I always discard the cartoon section. As soon as I pick up the Sunday paper, the cartoonns go in the trash, but this morning I noticed how many of the cartoons paid respect to the fact that today is Easter Sunday, so I started glancing through them.
Trudeau it seems couldn't let the day pass without getting a dig in at Christians who believe that God is actually capable of performing miracles. A slap at Creationism in his cartoon is a backhanded slap at the resurrection. I suppose he knew that an overt attack on Easter itself would be too repugnant for even liberal newspaper editors, but I suppose he thought he could get away with this.

I quit reading Doonesbury in about 1985. Now I remember why.
Happy Easter!

No, Mark (the one with the CEO dad) is now gay. Zonker has always been kinda of asexual.

How does evolution contradict God?

Best to ignore Trudeau. (Double-r in his first name, by the way). His sole merit, as far as I can tell, is drawing somewhat less badly than Ted Rall.
A happy Easter to you.

For as much as they think of themselves, people on the left are often completely lacking in class - and they are often more bigoted than those they claim to oppose for their bigotry. Hypocrites, all.

It is drawn by some contractually uncredited artist in Kansas City or somewhere. Also Tru-duh said once most of the ideas and story lines are contributed by his readers. Undoubtedly faxed from DNC headquarters would be my guess.

My point is not to debate Creation vs. Evolution (that argument has been rehashed ad naseum elsewhere in this forum. The issue is that there are many Christians, myself included, for whom a Creationism is a basic element of their worldview. To suggest, as Trudeau does, that we are dopes is insulting. He further misrepresents Creationism as being incompatible with intellectual development.

Zonker was always gay. But he has too little testosterone to exhibit any overt tendencies.
Gary Trudeau thinks this is a good thing.

Did Bush really claim to not believe in Evolution?

How does evolution contradict God? It doesn't inherently. But the cartoon states that Creationists, who are 100% thiestic (and many.most are Christian), are unknowledgable in all the major sciences. It is a direct slap on Easter, on fundamentalists and an indirect slap at their God and Christ-believing brethren.
But, if course, I expected no less from Trudeau who is just the wise-cracking kid in the back of the High School homeroom and never grew up. If you follow his work, it has always been simple slams on those he dislikes. He has always disliked both Bushes and can't generate any real intellectual humor.

Garry Trudeau? I thought he was dead, or in prison, or something.

Did Bush really claim to not believe in Evolution? That's a good question. I don't know if Bush has ever explicitly made this statement. He has made no secret of his Christian faith, but I don't remember him ever addressing the topic of evolution.

If anybody is reading a Gary Trudeau cartoon searching for anything approaching truth, humor or talent, he is sadly misdirected.

Johnny Hart's Comic Strip "BC" for today easily trumps this one, in favor of Christianity.
Sorry I don't have the skills to find it and post it here.

Johnny Hart's Comic Strip "BC" for today easily trumps this one, in favor of Christianity. You just reminded me about the flak Johnny Hart took last Easter (or was it the Easter before?) when he ran a pro-Christian cartoon. I think the issue at that time was the use of a menorah in his cartoon, which was somehow construed to be anti-semitic. I doubt the liberal community will show as much indignation toward Trudeau's obvious and intentional slap at Christians.

Typical. This is at least the dozenth time I've seen a liberal twist the wording of the song, trying to score a twisted point. The actual words are "Onward Christian soldiers, marching "as" to war".
"As to war" is a lot different than "off to war" or "on to war".
Also worth pointing out that a couple of years ago Hillary referred to Christ in a speech, claiming that He was a "homeless person". In fact, Joseph and Mary had a home ... they were only in Bethlehem by government decree to pay taxes. Liberals: no honesty, no shame.
