Trudeau insults Christians in Easter Day Doonesbury cartoon
Doonesbury Cartoon ^

On Easter of all days, Gary Trudeau uses his Doonesbury cartoon to insult Christians in general, and George Bush's faith in particular. How quick the liberals are to condemn someone else's faith and belief system, but just let a Christian say anything negative about another's belief system and how quick they are to invoke an injunction against "judgementalism."

Just mho but in my heart ,I have a lot of difficulty believing that mankind evolved from some primordial soup. And who created or spawned the primordial soup from which man was supposed to have evolved? If man evolved from apes, why are there still apes?

Just wondering what exactly it is you are trying to say and why you are so upset about this particular thread. I don't understand your arguments with JHL so far and I'm curious about how you perceive Garry Trudeau. Care to enlighten me? (This is just a forum for thoughtful debate. No reason to attempt verbal homicide.)

I think that the tripe "Boondocks" is far worse than Doonesbury.
I used to love Doonesbury, especially the early years. I even have the early books. But my absolute FAV was the time that the football player...ummmm B.D. (I think) spent in Viet Nam with his buddy "Phred" the VC.

Say (parody) what you will Mr. Trudeau, He is risen! Miracle of miracles--the grave could not hold Him. Oh death, where is thy sting? ...and if they hated Him, of course they will hate us who follow Him.

Thirty-one years ago I was baptized in Little River ... Mendocino California .
A young Jewish couple came to church and asked to be baptized ...
before and on the way someone asked me if I wanted to be baptized ---
no way ... did all that --- confirmation too !
When I saw this man came up out of the cold water ...
immediately I went forward and asked to be baptized also ...
and the same happiness -- joy and peace I saw in him --- I now saw and felt completely .
I have not and probably never will see or feel that way again on this side of heaven ---
awesome -- miraculous !
It is imprinted in my mind and heart and I could never forget him and what happened to me ...
the look on his face and his words of praising God --- "Hallelujah" !
Happy Easter !
I really got to share in their joy and ---RELIEF and happiness !

An evolution-accepting-Christian ping. Thanks for the ping. Trudeau is against the war, it seems, because as a liberal he's anti-Bush. No surprises. He's also anti-creationism, as are loads of people, including many Christians. But I've never seen it written anywhere that Bush is a creationist, so Trudeau is just trying to present Bush as a fool, with apparently no evidence. Trudeau's cartoon is certainly idiotic; but it's not (in my humble opinion) an example of Christian-bashing. Just Bush-bashing.

If I remember correctly, Gary Trudeau is married to Katie Couric ...I guess it's understandable how he might believe in evolution if this is the case...

Just wondering what exactly it is you are trying to say and why you are so upset about this particular thread.
"This is a stupid attempt to stir up a tempest in a teapot."
"Shameless attempts to invent conflict tend not to inspire much respect on my part."
"You used a very inflammatory (and inaccurate)title and added insult to injury by claiming an insult to creationism is an insult to the resurrection. You did this on EASTER of all days. Then, you admit, however inadvertantly, that there are, in fact, a large number of Christians who aren't creationists, meaning that you knew your inflammatory, inaccurate title was false as well."
Let me know if you still don't understand.
I'm curious about how you perceive Garry Trudeau.
Trudeau is a typically deluded liberal, laboring under the assumption that most people share his opinions, no matter how ridiculous. He feels no shame and no shyness in showing his a$$ to the world. He's a stupid, obvious liberal and as such, he's a conservative's best friend.
To: JHL
G*ddamn tofu-eatin' hippies! I guess Trudeau wishes to kiss some @$$ at the Washington Post?
To: JHL
I'm not a Creationist, but unabashedly embracing evolution at this point in time would mean I was dumber'n a bag o'doorknobs!

He must have had Bush confused with his apparent idol,
Al Gore. When referring to the "C's" and the poor
scholastic record, I understand that tidbit is much
more applicable to Gore's bad scholastic showing rather
than to the good scholastic record held by Bush.

I'm not sure how you could judge my "biblical erudation" from a post that mentions one book of the Bible in passing.

Another sad aspect is the cartoon ridiculing someone for not believing in evolution. The ridicule belongs on the flip side of the coin. It's infinitely more logical to believe there's a Creator than to believe everything around us is here as a matter of sheer chance. The evolution dogmait's
not scienceis so filled with lies and deception that it boggles the mind.

Garry Tru-duh does NOT draw the strip. It is drawn by some contractually uncredited artist in Kansas City or somewhere. Also Tru-duh said once most of the ideas and story lines are contributed by his readers. Undoubtedly faxed from DNC headquarters would be my guessNow that sounds like nice work, if you can get it.

It is not possible to wholly believe the Bible, literally, and also believe in evolution.
////
Perhaps, but it is not possible to be logically consistent and simultaneously hold to the veracity of both the Bible (in all its parts) and evolution.
These are two mutually incompatible belief systems. The "I believe both" is an illogical cop-out for the weak-willed and feeble-minded.

Wait. I apologize sincerely. Upon re-reading your post, I do believe that we are in agreement on this point after all. I agree that it is NOT possible to wholly believe the Bible, literally, and also believe in evolution.

Scott Adams (Dilbert) also gets most of his ideas from his readers, or so he claims.
The difference between Adams and Tru-duh is that Adams is a true genius, with a razor sharp satirical sense. Well, that and absolutely no artistic talent, as he freely admits.
Tru-duh is boring and fake, as one would expect from a democrat.
